  1. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

If only he knew for whom the bell tolled. It wasn't a Video game that was to make us, the readers, cry; but Peter Molyneux himself who was prophesied to weep at the disaster of curiosity, and his apparantly impending death. I feel like people actually don't believe him at all these days, but still give him shit for it regardless when the games come out. Obviously we are talking about generic Video game forum community here, and not regular people or his actual peers, who don't read game preview interviews anyway. I think the Idle Thumbs community, who are way more developer-focused, actually love Peter Molyneux's ambition to make crazy falling-in-love-with-a-green-cube ideas.
  2. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

As coldhearted a response as it is, I feel an urge to point out that the countdown to tears is over.
  3. Oh, sure, write down that Jurrassic Park had a luke warm reception and then gloss over The Walking Dead Also I laughed at the notion that Microsoft will make Video games glamorous in 2013.
  4. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

I love how the whole video is addressing the reasons why people don't like Peter Molyneux. EDIT- woah! ...Not sure how to address this one. I've definately dissapointed people with a couple game releases before, but seeing your whole career as that is probably a bit of a letdown. I've not downloaded Curiosity but it seemed good, to be honest.
  5. Double Fine Amnesia Fortnight 2012

This shitty prototype even LOOKS disgusting, but you're right, it is kind of selling me on the idea.
  6. Double Fine Amnesia Fortnight 2012

SpaceBase gets a lot of mileage on the fact that space base concepts are completely bizzare and amazing.
  7. Double Fine Amnesia Fortnight 2012

This DoubleFine High concept art made me laugh. Yea there's a lot o good games here. I think SpaceBase and CritterVerse are two definate picks from me. MAYBE Milgrim... I dunno... I wanna ask questions about most of these.
  8. Double Fine Amnesia Fortnight 2012

omg! Haven't watched yet, but Amnesia Fortnight is my favourite thing. It's SO perfect for Double Fine. I've seen a couple other studios do similar brain-storming events but I hope it's something everyone does. ...guys this is a pretty weird video. EDIT- Holy crap a lot of those games sounded good. I'm clicking on the thumbnails and nothing's happening D:
  9. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I was thinkin about goin out today, but the weatherman gave it an 8.5, so maybe I'll wait n see what next week gets. If it's above a 9 then good, cos I'm actually dieing to go out.
  10. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Oh wow, numbered reviews of game consoles... I didn't know people were doing that. Am I supposed to compare this to the one they did of the Xbox 360 when that came out? How many stars does Video games IN GENERAL have? I'm only interested in hobbies that're above an 8.5. I'm gonna watch this ZombiU quick look, cos I've not really been able to tell if ZombiU is a GREAT GAME, or just the best thing to get with a Wii U.
  11. The Walking Dead

I just picked this up! Bin meaning to for a while, but had to finish other games first.. I just beat Episode 2. Oh and I'm not reading any of these posts. This game is fucked up! I'm not really into stuff like so I'm actually kind of worried about Episode 3 being reportedly worse. I already feel like crap here! My choices so far are stuff that's all already been said: One thing that sticks out to me: it seems like everyone really likes Clementine. She's fine,.but she's pretty flat to be honest. She just says "okay" and "I'm fine" and smiles at everything. Didn't your parents and all your school friends dissapear 3 months ago? Ya don't have ANYTHING to say about having a new dad? She piped up a couple times near the end of Ep 2, and I heard she gets better along the way, so aaaa I'll give em the benefit of the doubt. EDIT- OH GOODIE I can watch more episodes of Playing Dead now that I know all the spoilers. One of my favourite parts of the game so far is when Kenney chewed me out for trying to be neutral and sit on the fence and be nice with everyone. If this was Mass Effect, that would've worked. I'm glad it didn't. OH-- and at the end of Episode 2, ...also I'm kind of interested, why was the multi-tool a "Multi-Tool", and not a screwdriver? Also yes it's very funny that we all gave food to Larry so that maybe he'd like me.
  12. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I randomly came across an old live-stream of the Nintendo Wii launch just now. It's kind of interesting, Times Square New York was like exploding over the Wii. #1 thing that stood out though: First guy in line. Triforce Johnson. It's on his credit card, it's on his driver's license, that's his name. Triforce Johnson was super excited, and was the first person to get his hands on the centre of the toy universe. So I thought to myself "Where is Triforce now?" and NO DOUBT HE IS NUMBER 1 AT THE WII U LAUNCH. GOD SPEED, TRIFORCE JOHNSON.
  13. Sean's experience with Frog Fractions is exactly the one I had, as documented in the Frog Fraction thread.
  14. I got a meme about there being no podcast

I think you're getting the impression I don't like games that look like cartoons... I do, I think Wind Waker and Team Fortress and Castle Crashers all look awesome. Bionic Commando ReArmed has a great style, so does Mario Galaxy. But depicting spraypaint as a jittery triangle sticks out like a sore thumb, and characters in that game move the same way characters move in a my-first-3D-game tutorial. They hover and slide in the wrong directions and magnet-snap into place. These explosions in Virtual-On are not SUPPOSED TO look like papercraft.
  16. GTA V

Actually I just remembered the whole day I spent driving a train in San Andreas and now I realise why you're saying trains are such a big deal.
  17. GTA V

Well they've not got a story of a retired woman bank-robber IN them. That's not a deficiency, that's just cos they're not interested in it. It's not an UPGRADE to have it be about a woman, it's just that that's not what they're doing.
  18. GTA V

Cos this'd still be an open-world crime game that's based on old movies and feels like Max Payne whether you play as a man OR woman. It's not really a big decider. Being tired of the heist scenes n gang wars stuff is fair enough though, cos that's the whole game.
  19. GTA V

Yea my first reaction to the GameInformer cover, like I said, was that it's 3 guys who tried to get out, but they kept pullin me back in etc. But thinking about it: That's Grand Theft Auto. They made Red Dead Redemption and they made Bully and fucking Table Tennis- if you're waiting for the GTA that's not about some dude with a dark past who wants to settle down but ultimately drives speed-boats through explosions: Then check out LA Noire. Props to em for keeping their big-city crime game about big cities and criminals, cos it waves in and out of being a city sim sometimes. Unless you're givin em flak about not playing as a woman, in which case that's an arbitrary distinction and get over it, y'know? Although I stand by how goofy the "PICK YOUR RING, RUSTY BROWN RING DONUTS!" billboard looks. But anyway that was a sick trailer.
  20. GTA V

Yeah this is a very retro feeling trailer. Also that was awesome.
  21. Jehuty in 1080p

Yea we have opposite ideas for what makes a game look outdated. I think Shadow of the Colossus holds up well, even though it's like 15 frames per second and all the textures look like dirt. That's not the part I'm looking at. I still think JetSet Radio is a guy made of primary colours floating an inch off the ground, waving a triangle about a meter too far out from a wall, and then snaps to a new rotation, clips into his own elbows and shouts a random catchphrase without moving his mouth. That's the part that breaks it for me.
  22. GOTY

I spent most of this year playing games I overlooked before, like Vanquish, Dark Souls, Renegade Ops, Mortal Kombat 9, and ALMOST Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise. I JUST played Walking Dead Episode 1 today and it's very very good. Nobody's mentioned it yet, but I feel like FEZ does deserve a bit of praise. GiantBomb mentioned that their goty of the year list might get rid of the "best downloadable" or "best indie" category and replace it with a "best triple-A" one because it's harder to come up with a full list of those. EDIT- Yep, played 16 games this year, only 3 of em came out in 2012, I suck.
  23. Jehuty in 1080p

I know NiGHTS is earlier than Dreamcast, I'm just saying it looks like crap. I think Jet Set Radio also looks dumb. I'm talking about blocky, foot-sliding low-low-low poly characters whose mouths don't move and their fingers are just one solid block. I could've easily said GTA 3 or like... Time Crisis 1. Y'know I should've give the Dreamcast more credit, cos now I'm just thinking of Virtua Fighter 1, which was also Sega Saturn. Anyway Virtual-On's effects are giant cuboids that flicker on and off, it's the OPPOSITE of Zone of Enders 2 in that way. Everything's just a garish cyan block aimlessly waving it's arms around and clipping through itself. If Metal Gear Solid 2 looked like Radikal Bikers, then yea I wouldn't be as impressed.
  24. GTA V

Yeah I said at the top of Page 9, you've got some outdated fanfiction list.
  25. GTA V

Actually, thinking about the dead bodies: Things that happen every day in L.A, like helping out a broken down motorist, catching a mugger, and figuring out where this pile of dead bodies came from. (?) How, and why??
