I know you guys are super serious and shrewd on this stuff, but I saw Hip-Hop Gamer goin bazonkers in that audience and I'm with him. Oh damn, oh shit, I cannot believe how much they FLAUNTED IT up on that whole thing. Games games games games games games games. That was straight-up cartoonish. If you told me I'd come out of this 90 minutes wanting to buy a PS4, buy PS+, buy Final Fantasy 15 and god damn Destiny I would've never believed it. And this is coming from me, the last new game I bought was X-COM, about 2 months after release. Never played a Kingdom Hearts game in my life, but even I know that's bin in the dark for years. The PS4 looks like a PS2. Which gets a thumbs up from me.
  2. E3 2013 Idle Thumbs Steam Chat

Yeah I read your first post thinking "Why be annoyed? That's a hilarious idea!"
  3. E3 2013 Idle Thumbs Steam Chat

I missed COMPLETELY EVERYTHING, I was too busy moving house, sorry Idle Forums. This is a great disservice to the tribe on my behalf, I am left humbled and ashamed.

GUYS I LIVE IN HOLLAND NOW AJSDHCKDNDICNDJC I moved today. Leaving my whole family behind customs was extremely sad, and I was pretty torn up for a while but for some reason as soon as I touched down I felt great and fine. There is seriously like 6 Facebook updates in a row of me crying and being really sad, then "huh weird, now I just feel great"
  5. Mirror's Edge 2. I'm not even fucking joking.

Mirrors Edge 1 was flawed, but an INARGUABLY unique game. Really cool. Congrats to DICE, I heard they tried to get this off the ground forever. They can call it "Mirror's Edge" if they want, Im down with that. DLC for that first game seemed good to me, just sayin.
  6. Life

I spent some time worrying about my situation, and after a couple weeks I had gone over everything enough times that I eventually felt prepared for it. Since then, I was still feeling THE EFFECTS of depression and anxiety for a couple weeks more, even though I'm not actively thinking about or worrying about leaving all my friends behind... like I said in that post a couple hours ago. So this week I've bin taking tablets and doing everything to occupy myself, and I feel some percentage better. On the one hand I feel guilty that this could be interpreted as avoiding analysing the problem and how I feel- but on the other much bigger hand, I feel justified in that I recognized that I'd ALREADY DONE THAT for a couple weeks, and the only thing I'm actually quelling is randomly terrifying myself awake at night. Which is fine, because that was never gonna stimulate any kind of introspective revelation at all.
  7. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

I can't believe I didn't know this, but someone on the Double Fine forums just told me to look at the Kickstarter Updates HOUR-LONG DESIGN CHAT???
  8. Life

Got my one-way flight to Holland booked for Monday (!!!) Gonna see my friends n family for the last time over the next couple days. I've bin slowly freaking out over the passed couple weeks, not in a logistical way of how I'm gonna do everything, but just in that I FEEL tired and sad and panicky all the time regardless of what I'm doing or thinking about. Like a lot of nights is me trying to get to sleep, and then thinking "Oh no, nothing's waiting for me after death" for 4 hours and stay awake- or taking a shower and wondering "What is purpose and happiness beyond delusion". It's been uncomfortable and very annoying. Our office seems nice, I wanna HOPEFULLY start doing some kind of video or audio updates on who we are and what we're doing. I've wanted to do this for years, but whenever I start recording in my empty room I just turn to stone. Maybe I'll have a new perspective from within a functioning company. Our current official project will be announced in a couple days via a pleasantly well-animated trailer in the Plug Your Shit thread. Here is our logo splash that I did today. Right now I'm very jittery. I've booked a weekend back in England in about 6 weeks, when I plan to regail everyone with my amazing stories.
  9. Yeah I didn't get what I was reading until the last sentence, when I cracked up laughing.
  10. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

...Passing on vulnerabillities and sicknesses would be pretty sad.
  11. E3 2013 Idle Thumbs Steam Chat

David Hayter's bin making me laugh recently, because he so openly feels hurt that he doesn't get to be Snake any more. For a while I thought he was being coy about it, but nope . Like New Coke? You sly dog.
  12. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

The idea of a couple being researchers gives me a great mental-image of a scientist power-couple.
  13. E3 2013 Idle Thumbs Steam Chat

    I was out too lol
  14. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

There's some good talk about Massive Challice from Brad on this week's DOTA podcast.
  15. The Last of Us

Violence in aesthetics is takin beating from articles like this, but really I think the right conversation is how games are going for this mature, immersive story-telling without breaking the convention of being a super fun, action-packed toy-box. I think that's where we are right now, and that's really what this article is ABOUT.
  16. Is there an episode this week, or do you all have E3 stuff to do? And I bet hearing the Wizard-On messages would be a monkey-paw wish that everyone would regret. Nothing's gonna top "555-WIZARD-NO" anyway.
  17. The Last of Us

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/06/the-last-of-us-review/ This one's pretty negative. The basic gist is "I thought they were doing something brand new with this one, but god fucking dammit there are medkits, there's crafting, there's flamethrower customisation, video games are still the same old shit." EDIT- I actually find the growing trend of "Would've been better without guns" kind of annoying, cos I think it's an under-developed analysis of what's wrong with Bioshock Infinite and this game.
  18. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

I'd personally count Trenched as a bonkers aesthetic, Im pretty sure the level hub is a giant walking boat in that game.
  19. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

y'know for not going through publishers, this is kind of the LEAST ludicrous concept Double Fine's ever come up with. Maybe Brad's just focusing on game systems and after a couple weeks of production all the units will-- become insane garbage-monsters or something.

Oh good I missed the last thing. BUT THEY'RE OUR DISSAPOINTMENT! TOGETHER!!

Mr Dink was truly a man ahead of his own time.
  22. The Last of Us

I read a conversation today about how Gamespot's review of this game is "garnering a lot of hate". I've not watched video reviews for games in maybe a couple years. So I went and checked it out to see what was up. Everyone's complaining about the score or whatever, but THIS BLEW MY MIND. IT'S JUST A FUCKING PLOT SYNOPSIS READ OUT LIKE A HIGH-SCHOOL POEM!! Is this an April Fools Day prank? Is this what these are?? You're writing a review of it, buddy, not a romance novel! There's like one line about combat, and another one about multiplayer. Who is this video for?? Is it for people at Naughty Dog? Was this a commission? I seriously can't believe I went looking for a review of this game and found a dramatic reading of the back of the box. I thought these guys would've honed it down to a science by now. Probably just me, everyone else continue talking about the game.
  23. Things in games that terrify you irrationally

Oh I used to be afraid of Bowser's laugh in Super Mario 64, but that's when I was like 8. Yeah I definately used to feel that way about mirrors. It's like they were saying on Idle Thumbs last week: Imagine someone made a horror game where the Kinect would show an image of you in your room with A GUY STANDING AROUND NEAR YOU!!! That would be horrifying. It would be DF Happy Action Theatre used for the powers of evil.
  24. Things in games that terrify you irrationally

I hate swimming and not knowing which way is up and down. Cos that's a thing that happens in real life, and it's just like "WELP- GUESS I'LL JUST WAIT FOR DEATH NOW!" This is an obvious point, but things that jump out and scream at you get me every time. I am the fat boy that freaks out and backflips off the chair in shock-reaction videos. I played Alan Wake, and it's mostly a great game, but there's a couple points in the game where it flashes the whole screen and goes WAAARRRRGGGH!!!!! So that leads me to playing the rest of the game at like 10% volume every time and mostly be really annoyed. Also something about bad, old animation freaks me out. I had this game in black & white when I was a kid and it was the most unsettling thing. The endless roads of bad sound effects are more scary than the actual context of the game. Old games like this also carry the sensation of being lost in a maze, which is horrible.
