Well I never stick around!I'll read like 3 pages of dickheads comparing framerates and just quit, like "god why do I keep giving this a chance!" If there's regular people in there being normal, then I miss em every time.
  4. Life

About 6 weeks ago, I moved from Manchester England to Hilversum, Netherlands. It's been a total dream, and I've got such a freedom to whatever, whenever, however I like, without the usual chorus of whiners and naysayers judging me at every step. Hanging out with ex-pats is great, because it's in their agenda to explore the city and be active and make friends. Everything's just been a catalyst to go out and start having a life. Visited my home town this weekend and felt pretty depressed! Very grey weather, and a consistent attitude of tutting and shaking heads at anything that's not "Let's sit here and just complain forever". I was expecting to come back and see everything in a new light now that I feel great, but it actually just sank me back down to my miserable, anxiety-ridden, boxed-in old self. I was glad to leave! Was planning on coming back way more often, but I dunno, now I wanna avoid it! Sorry, home, I guess you really do just make me feel like shit. A weird twist.

I seriously have no idea why this NeoGaf board has any meaning or weight to anyone. It just looks like old-ass 4chan to me, I don't get why people I like and respect are always so up-to-date with this shitbag meme-toilet. Whenever I pop in it's just schoolgirl bitching and the kind of uber pownage I used to read when I'd first just got the internet. I used to be confused with why everyone would bring up Kotaku in conversation, but I don't think people do as much any more.
  6. Fez 2

Especially when they catch people like Phil, yeah.

It's not an isolated games thing you can draw a timeline of. Hollywood news, politics, tech-news, these are all a hundred miles further down this same road. Using news as fuel to be a dismissive comedian, using cultural touchstones as a punching-bag, it's a universal thing that'll be around forever.

We can stop all of this from ever happening if we go back in time and kill Maddox.

Putting these GameTrailers guys on the blacklist isn't gonna do anything, cos they've been this same thing for a decade and they just don't look at games from the same perspective we do. There's a billion other channels with "Worst Game of the Year!" awards where anything relevant is just fuel for them to be a Youtube personality, so no amount of lecturing and boycotting is gonna turn em around. Ya just gotta not watch it and be happy with the stuff you find on your own, like Idle Thumbs. Of course yeah, preaching to the choir here, like ya said. As if any of us here is watching Annoyed Gamer rants every week.

It's always a shame when someone who isn't built for a billion nasty comments accidentally makes it to a spot where they have to deal with it. If only he had a couple of the right friends in his social circle, I bet he'd be totally fine. Not in immeadiate reaction to this; but any form of EPIC GAMING RANTS make me fucking cringe. I love Idle Thumbs or GiantBomb where everything's super casual and knowledgable and jokey, so it feels so 90's and embarrassing when I hop over to a mainstream site like "Here's the Angry Video game Nerd to tell you why the Suckbox One is a GIANT PILE OF DOG-TURD!" and don't talk shit about the people behind it-- I guess there's a billion things that make these sites awful so I'll stop the list at that. The main thing is just I hope Phil gets whatever he needs to not explode over this stuff. Probably hang out with Tommy Refenes, he used to be kind of a hair-trigger and seems a lot happier now.

  12. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

Still just got Mark the Ninja and Hotline Miami. Alright I bought a Left 4 Dead 2 pack with a friend on the last day.
  13. Cartoons!

    It's such a weird voice!
  14. Cartoons!

Someone on Skype was re-watching Samurai Jack recently, and they eventually dragged me down to do the same thing! I never watched the cartoon when it was first on. Every time I watched a couple minutes, I thought "Oh it looks like he's about to get back to the past, I better not watch the spoilers! I'll wait til they loop back around." In hindsight: that was really dumb. The main thing I know about this, 10 years later, is that it won awards and was really popular. Watching it now, it's easy to see why. The cartoon has a boldly slow pace that isn't like anything else- The first episode is all 22 minutes of montage just to set up the show. They form a slow, stoic style and stick to it really well. It seems like the kind of thing that would never get funded in such a valuable spot as being on Cartoon Network, because it's the least in-your-face interpretation of a Samurai you could come up with, but here it is! It's interesting and cool. Oh also I watched Hunchback of Notre-Dam recently. I fucking love Disney 1995-2005, they're at fucking PRIME animation talent but I can''t remember what happens or who any of the characters are. Which is a plus! Hunchback of Notre-Dam, apparently, is about being shy and alone, and it's just wonderful. You forget, in this day and age, that Disney used to produce films like this.. On that note: if you just watched Monsters U: DEFINITELY dig out Monsters Inc again. The difference in the feeling you get from each film is night and day, it still holds up. That's my Watcha Bin Playin' segment for this month, I guess.
  15. I'm picturing Sean's dad is a Ren & Stimpy interpretation of a big angry american. Also this was a great episode!
  16. PL4YST4TION 4

I always thought Gears of War got a bad rep on the internet, cos it is one of my favorite games ever for combat. Probably a step down from Killzone on the mainstream scale though. Right? Maybe.
  17. Oculus rift

Well in third person games, the camera orbits around an object instead of just pivoting in place, so that'd be the weird part.
  18. Life

I watched Monsters U on the weekend and I don't think there's enough interest for a thread of it, but I wanna mention it so here's my review: It's got laffs and fun nods to the first one, it's cute, but the plot and characters and the whole situation are as template as it gets. It's a college movie, with every scene from that Simpsons episode in-tact. I had fun, enough, but they didn't do anything special or remarkable. The last half hour really got me- it's also where they drop all the cliche on-campus stuff and just get down to the characters. Then I went back and watched Monster Inc. again, and holy heck what a movie. The beginning, middle and end just had me sitting back thinking "how did they come up with this?". Smart, creative, unique, loads of personality, a super identifiable original score, I have way too many good things to say about it. Maybe watch M.U, definitely watch M.Inc again.
  19. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

I cracked up at this: Definitely some kind of developer in-joke
  20. Oculus rift

Actually a bike-racing game is what I thought of aswel. Did I ever mention I tried this? I almost forgot I did! I don't know what version I tried, but it was sitting on a table at an office. There was a load of latency between me moving my head and it catching up on-camera. I looked up, down, around and all over the place, then sat backwards and did other dumb stuff. It was a funny, cool toy, but wasn't as mind-blowing as people keep talking about. Oh I played the roller-coaster thing, by the way.
  21. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

I'm currently trying to figure out if a game gets better promotional placement, or is more popular, depending on whether or not it has that Cards flag. Obviously that's Valve's intention, and I wish I knew they'd put blue stickers on all the games this time last week Anyway, the number of games with cards, per page, on the Under $5 tab, is thus: Page 1 -- 6 games with Cards Page 2 -- 5 games with Cards Page 3 -- 1 game with Cards Page 4 -- Zero Page 5 -- Zero Under $10: Page 1 -- 11 games with Cards Page 2 -- 4 games with Cards Page 3 -- 2 games with Cards Page 4 -- 3 games with Cards Page 5 -- Zero This either means: Popular games are more likely for their developers to implement cards. Or games with cards are more likely to be higher up on the list. ...right?
  22. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

The community already played those games! Not as many people bought Hitman, so they want it on sale. I'm hovering on Witcher 2 and Anno 2070. Thinkin about it... but will I ATUALLY play these games?
  23. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

Not really bought anything in these sales before, but now that I'm leaning on PC I actually bought Hotline Miami and Mark the Ninja. It's funny that you guys are souring on trading cards now.
  24. GTA V

The main thing that jumped out to me was that the minimap was like a GPS instead of a circle, there are mountains, and you can hunt animals. I'm really into hunting in games right now, for some reason, so fingers crossed that's somethin I can get into. Didn't really blow me away IGN.com cos I guess I already know that you can switch characters. I wonder if switching will look exactly like that in the final game.
