The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay--Great Game or Greatest Game?
Justin Leego replied to Architecture's topic in Video Gaming
It's best to read this thread imagining that all posts are being vocalised by Vin Diesel's voice. -
Yeah, I loved the super techy inside baseball moments when they occurred, but really wanted more well differentiated, expert insight from all four casters when it came to breaking down how and why games worked for them. Still feel that there's the makings of a good cast there, willing to check back in later. I also had a bit of a Nick-Sean-Steve experience with Isometric in finding it difficult to distinguish the voices of two of the hosts (not that I've had the same with the Thumbs, just that it's a classic listener trope). The positive upshot is that it made me consider whether I am actually a massive sexist. Good. Going to give Indoor Kids a spin. One of the recent eps has something to do with "Junior Mints." Wonder if it's the real deal...

Use the short link and just paste it in, thus: Not as slick, but The Other Final is kinda similar to Next Goal Wins. It's about a match played between the world's two worst footie teams, Bhutan and Montserrat, on the day of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Final.

You get to have all the fun with that setup.

Good point. Perhaps there's something going on in terms of associations made with other forms of more culturally established televisual media? For example, I find myself linking the Payday games to the wild fantasy shootouts of Heat ("this is a work of fiction, no-one is really getting hurt, it's supposed to be over-the-top and impossible, and everything worked out mostly ok in the end"). The tone of Hardline's first trailer reminded me more of a percieved trend in US TV police procedural (and serialised drama in general) towards a pessimistic realism ("this is essentially real life, which, for the purposes of the show, is aggressively selfcentered and futile").

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Justin Leego replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
And then there's the question of how much of a channel's generated revenue actually makes its way back to the host. Thematically speaking, excellent timing on behalf of the This Is Phil Fish video. -
Truth be told, I'm pretty much in the same boat, Griddle. I've got ~40 on my wishlist, but my actual mental musthavelist, specific to this summer sale, is for Gone Home at 75% (thank you trading card funds) and that's it.

Wasn't she driving a microphone under the influence of (too much) alcohol for that one? I think she came out and said as much afterwards. And lo, there was much armchair analysis that didst follow.

I can't seem to rid myself of the persistent thought that the last Steam sale saw you purchase a total of 2 games.

Get yourself an agent, Rubi!

I hope they do female attire cosplay dlc

All the best in a worst of times, Gormongous. That's hard news. It's ok for your face to discombobulate in these circumstances. Please accept a comforting and steady hand on your shoulder from Idle Thumbs community forums.

I feel like it's more relevant to the new Avatars than the new Star Wars. Warses. Warii. THE JOKE POLICE HAVE SPOKEN.

Aw, you make it sound so straightforward. Go on go on go on go on
-
So it's more stable with the mod, but you have to accept molevision as part of the deal?
-
Whoops! You gotta admit, it's pretty easy to confuse the two.

I can appreciate the creative impulse to make a first person shooter about something other than shooting aliens or equally justifiable opposing militant forces in the face, but this iteration feels like a bit more than tone deafness. More of a mist-step. The "glitching out of a penthouse suite window without a parachute" kind? Also it takes ages to actually get anywhere, not all the skyscrapers have the trailerized rooftop views, and at this stage in the beta the lifts are weird. Also I suck at Battlefield Hardline. For me, part of it is the interactive and relentless nature of the cop on criminal deadly violence that drives the genre dead-end home.

So that's what El Muerte looks like. The avatar lies! To a non-Dutch speaker, you were the least immediately unusual convention-goer. How do you feel about that?

Chuffed for you Synth, sounds like it's going to be a great day!

Idle Thumbs 162: Cavorting Amongst the Corpses
Justin Leego replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
No need. -
No-one wants to face up to thinking that slaying realistically rendered, gender normative crowds with gibsploding force is a fun thing to do, let alone begin working through the identity trauma that such a realisation could cause on a personal, cultural and international economic scale.
