  4. Anyone know much about business plans?

I don't have any immediate advice, but I was reading back through some of your old blog postings last night and am excited to see how things develop with this new business idea.

  6. Destiny

...and without having heard the segment, you've got to wonder whether it's the budget for the first game only, development budget + marketing costs, or the whole shebang somehow amoritized over the next 10 years of franchise empire building. Still, the total is probably well up there.
  7. I Had A Random Thought...

Not motion sickness I hope. That would not help matters at all.
  8. Life

Just to say thanks for pouring out your thoughts. Really appreciated it. Could you expand on this one a little bit? It's 20 posts per page, 01 - 20, 21-40 and so on into the thousands. Don't feel bad though, yours was a good scene-setting rant.

Anyone else fancy it? About an hour and a half to 2 hours' worth of play, weekends, at 11am-1pm US Pacific 2pm-4pm US Eastern 7pm-9pm UTC 8pm-10pm Central European Reckon we could get the main storyline done in a dozen sessions or so.
  12. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Burnout Paradise is ace, we should have a playdate of sorts (or maybe two, so as to encompass the global timezone-dispersed nature of The Thumb)
  13. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I accidentally applied for an invitation nine times with the same email address. I hope they don't look on that unfavourably.
  14. Borderlands 2

I've neglected finishing this on PC - only got past the Fireback mission actually. Anyone fancy rolling through it?
  15. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Hoatzin, you have to retweet your own tweet before it becomes sarcastic.
  16. Returned Vita :)

Would your robot be able to run for 84 days on a free source of solar, wind, hydro, kinectic or otherwise renewable energy? Breaking the passcode is probably your best chance of contacting the owner. Unless there's some removable internal storage you can poke for information. I don't know if the rental company would have the policy mechanisms required to proactively investigate who the owner might be. It's something you might want to find out before asking it to become custodian of the Vita.
  17. edit: oh boy, this thread moved fast in the last 20 minutes and now I am a terrible person
  18. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

This morning I misread a headline and for an exciting moment thought that She-Hulk and Hawkeye were going to guest star in a Lumberjanes issue.

  21. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Yes, that's fair enough Jon. I mention IP.Calendar as it's already part of the site software, so there are various advantages there with the way it can link up to profiles, forum threads and whatnot, and it does the timezone stuff we'd want it to. But there'd need to be a change in user rights somewhere along the line as currently each event submitted to the Community Calendar has to be approved before it appears. Cedricfever1980 is the best.
  22. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

You're right, SAM, I could have been more specific - "megathread" does carry negative connotations in terms of readability and that's not what we want! I should have said "thread with an opening post to collate current regular events and link to relevant threads, with space for any other discussion or recommendations underneath." I like the idea of a central calendar that can be maintained by a number of people (shared by common users, less maintenance falling upon one person), especially if it can be embedded in a forum post, though hesitant to jump on a Google app by default just because. There's also the factor of the maintenance required to whitelist editors and revert changes / repair abuse. Isn't there some sort of calendar function built into the IP Board forum software? Ah, here it is - https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/calendar/1-community-calendar It marks member birthdays by default, but there's a nice big "Add Event" button. Shame it's not very visible within the forum structure. I don't know if there's any way to embed the current week within a post or not but that could work well too.
  23. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Uhhh so I was wondering... what would people think about having a general Idle Thumbs Plays megathread for finding regularly occurring multiplayer sessions? Been thinking about a couple of topics that came up in the last few pages of the Life thread, this here I Had a Random Video Game Thought thread, and Introverts, social anxiety and video games: finding opportunities to form friendships, hang out with people you like, and play multiplayer games in hospitable and understanding environments. I mean, I know I have a load of Thumbs on my friends lists but, regrettably, hardly ever (if at all) play with you fine guys and girls. I'd certainly like to when there's time and opportunity. For example, across the community right now we have GTA Mondays and there was a good run of regular Payday 2 nights recently too. Then there's Clyde's 50 Short Games By The Catamites club. On top of that, there are loads of free MMOs, commonly owned or bundled games, or sale / bargain bin regulars floating around that can be a lot more fun with friends. Plus having a sort of "here's what's on this week" might be a bit more functional than scouring the relevant multiplayer ID thread for people you think are cool / might be playing a game you enjoy. So why not see if we can get a schedule of regular days and times set up, making it easier to find people to play with?
  24. General Video Game Deals Thread

IIRC from the annoucement, they're starting out with video games / net culture subjects and broadening horizons from there. Seems like a good way to start expanding the service without ruffling too many feathers among GOG users. Wonder if they'll end up teaming with Devolver Digital, which started getting into film distribution last year.
  25. Life

Lord of the Rings Online. It's got Lords in the title (and it's free). Obvious destination for a Thumb Lonely Club virtual meeting.
