Good to know! Just checked on Cheap Shark and War for Cybertron has been as low as $5, while Fall of Cybertron was as low as $15 just this past winter.
  2. No one in this thread or on the podcast took the tone of arrogance you've described. What you've done is reframe the discussion with rhetoric I would expect from a high school student. People are interested in having a conversation here about these topics and you've come in like this is debate club. Obviously you're free to take whatever tone you want, but know that the particular one you've chosen isn't one conducive to honest dialogue. Apologies if this comes off as patronizing, but otherwise I have to assume you're willfully antagonizing, in which case that's not an attitude worth responding seriously too. As someone who started following Park on Twitter just a little before the Not Your Asian Sidekick hashtag, I would say that you have an incorrect impression. Merus hit on a few vital points that few people talked about during the whole Cancel Colbert thing, but I would just suggest checking out Park's writing to find out more yourself. Unless you already have, in which case I guess we'll just disagree.
  3. I don't disagree with this, but you seem to be framing it in a negative way while I would say it's a positive.

    UGS!
  5. Kerbal Space Program

I went through some videos that straight up told me what to do and how the controls worked and they were super helpful, as they gave me everything I needed to then start experimenting on my own.
  6. But no remorse shown for the extinction of the old gazoos? Wow.
  7. Holy shit. Did someone ring the basic bell? They're coming out of the woodworks. Happy to hear Jr. Mints again though. She's a smart lady and I've enjoyed her thoughts more each time she's been on. I didn't particularly like the tone of that article when I first read it, and this other article kind of gets at why: http://thenewinquiry.com/blogs/zunguzungu/this-is-when-things-got-weird-and-ugly/
  8. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I could really go for a delicious bowl of water tho.
  9. Kerbal Space Program

Man, what a neat game. I played it recently and had a lot of fun. I stopped soon after, because even though I hadn't done a lot of the more difficult things like land on the moon or build a space station, I felt like I could easily drain it of all its content quickly. Eagerly awaiting for the final version.
  10. I have a ballad version of the song on my computer, but I haven't posted it because I am in no way a singer and the melody goes past my range.

As someone who as specifically looked for discounts on those games, I've only every seen them go on sale once, and even then were still in the $30 range. Pbbt.

Thanks for the positive words, SpennyDubz. After putting down coding for a couple of days, I feel ready to get back into it.

Do you have a recording of this?
  16. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

Okay but I'mma need an explanation for that tho.
  17. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines. Played right up to when I met the sewer vampires in their lair. I enjoyed my time with the game, but ever since my last playtime I haven't had the smallest desire to go back. I wasn't at into the vampire mythos and I felt the stuff that did push me forward (seeing a fictional interpretation of a real place I was familiar with) was running thin. A problem I had with this game was the forced stealth or combat sections. (Off the top of my head this happened at least 3 times: the ship, the museum, the sewers). I think that games that allow you to invest all your points into conversation skills should always make that a viable path. I ended up using console commands, so it wasn't too bad, just annoying when I was scolded by the quest giver for not being stealthy. That being said, I really liked walking around the city areas and just exploring the world. Not bad for a game that's a decade old.
  18. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

What gets me down about this is the aim of the article is 'let's put Gone Home on trial. How is it a game?' which is kind of... silly? I feel like a better article would be to examine what's up with gamers who can't accept Gone Home as something clearly born out of video games and is itself one. Bjorn mentioned the misogyny/homophobia and I also feel as if Gone Home got more press than Dear Esther did. Consequently it caused a bigger reaction. But yes, whenever I heard Dear Esther mentioned on podcasts around its release, it was almost always coupled with 'is it a game?' conversations.
  19. Twitter :)

God damn. Remember how good Hotline Miami is, ya'll?
  20. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

    Very handy.
  21. Anyone Remember?

Right around the 20:20 mark. Nick mentions earlier in the stream reading a review there.
