  1. Nintendo bringing Xenoblade to North America in April

This game is soooooooooooo good. I got it for my birthday and have been so happy with it. I can't imagine anything beating it for game of the year.
  2. Etrian Odyssey 4 is a thing

I'm sold on EO4. I loved the first game, but never beat it before 2 came out and then before I knew it there was a 3! I'll gladly skip those to get to 4. A lot of the improvements sound great.
  3. EDF: Insect Armageddon

Bah, I have this on 360. I should look into this steam version....
  4. 2012

Dear Rodi, I have to admit, I really enjoyed Homecoming. Not as big a fan of the story, I never am with cult centric Silent Hills, but I found the gameplay appealing. I found that it had just enough of that classic SH vibe that all the new things it tried and failed at didn't alienate me. But I'll admit it's one of the weaker entries. Although I'd put it above 4 and Shattered Memories. SM was a fine game, but it had massive framerate issues and as previously mentioned in this thread it's scares wore off once you realized that the game defined moments of danger and safety with such a clear line. Homecoming's biggest fault was relying on combat, but at least you never felt outright safe. Hugs and kisses, Boris
  5. Mario Kart 7

Picked this up after being horribly disappointed to not have received it for Christmas. It's good! But it's also really strange. I've been playing for a while and I haven't unlocked ANY characters. It's weird enough that the starting roster is so small. Where is Wario? WHERE IS HE?
  6. Saint's Row The Third

I cannot for the life of me find a bowler hat in this game. All I want to do is make The Riddler? Is that too much to ask? I really don't feel right about playing these games unless I'm a Batman villain. Then all the absurd mayhem seems to make more sense.
  7. 2012

I'm probably most excited for Silent Hill Downpour because I'm an irrational person. But I can't resist. Here's hoping it's AT LEAST better than Silent Hill 4. And of course, Diablo III.
  8. CONGRATS STEVE!/FUCK STEVE!

Yeah! I was just thinking we're one step closer to LunarShock.
  9. This thread is the best when you skip right to the last page. I can only imagine what dark things caused the discussion to turn to dentistry and anesthetics.
  10. OH GOD! The PSP Go actually looks like a good idea?

I honestly like the PSP Go except for the fact that Sony really doesn't seem to add games to the PSN store often enough. But sure, if you're mostly interested in games that are already listed then it's not a problem. You just can't take advantage of sales often.
  11. Real ID on Blizzard Forums

Yeah, at first I didn't think it was that big of a deal. We give our name to random people who ask for it all the time in real life, now it's on an internet forum. Maybe it'll just keep people from being internet jerks. This would be really bad for the celebrities that play those games though. They're going to find a lot of mysterious friend invites.
  12. Telltale Jurassic Park

I remember always wanting Tresspasser back when I was young and stuck on a family computer that couldn't run it. I remember metaphorically salivating over the game box and dreaming what the game would be like. My strong desire for it has remained to this day, even after learning how terrible it was. I just want someone to make a game like that that works, you know? Like a more intense Far Cry 2 with dinosaurs.
  13. Telltale Jurassic Park

This is the best news I heard yesterday. (read?) As if it mattered, I've been trying to think of the perfect Jurassic Park quote to memorialize this occasion, but all I can think of is Sam Neil's sly look at the kids when he reveals he had only been pretending to electrocute himself to death and leave the two minors stranded in a forest of dinosaurs.
  14. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 2

If someone doesn't join that is supposed to I'd love to play. I don't check the forum for a day or so and I miss a new thread that's already at two pages. The internet is a harsh mistress. EDIT: Changed "places" to "pages." Places? What is wrong with me? I am glad I thought to note this edit rather than sleuthily avoid embarassment.
  15. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

My strategy wasn't too elaborate. I was still trying to understand the mechanics of the game. There were a few stars to the left of me that could not be traveled to without first upgrading range for the hyperspace jumps so that was the first thing I did. Once I got the stars over there I began bumping up the industry and made those my primary ship factories. But the entire game I completely forgot to put any points into science anywhere. Needless to say, when I finally started getting attacked I was instantly steamrolled. I sent a lovely message early in the game to Toblix about giving me a southern path (some stars he didn't have yet but I knew he would get eventually) so that I could have some elbow room, but I accidentally sent it to someone else and by the time I realized this we were fighting and that was pretty much the end of any peace talks with us. I wasn't able to expand at all beyond the feeble amount of stars readily available to me. I through everything into economy, neglecting the building of ships, then I through everything into industry, neglecting economy and so forth. This goes back to my early strategies with StarCraft where since I didn't know how to play the game yet I would just mass marines or just mass battlecruisers. Until I really get into a game my strategies are very narrow minded and focused. Needless to say, I want to play again and not do all those things.
  16. Backlog Busters

I used to keep good track of an ongoing backlog of games to finish, but at some point when I started getting old and having more responsibility it no longer felt like a to do list so much as a "things I've failed to do" list. I try to play what I want to play at any given moment and do my best not to think about it all anymore. It's usually the big Nintendo games (Mario, Zelda, and Metroid) that I somehow seem to make time for and blow through as soon as I get them, but everything else is really a case by case basis. I will never beat Turok 2 and I don't know why that still bothers me.
  17. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

Count me in for a potential future game after the one currently ongoing. I loved the other game even though I lost horribly.
  18. E3 2010

I disagree. We'll definitely see the new Zelda, along with that weird 3DS thing. Definitely. What's not certain is whether or not Nintendo will actually release this Zelda that's supposedly slated for late this year.... this year. Knowing their track record there it'll probably be delayed. Nintendo consistently has good E3s. Some less awesome than others, but they always show off something. Last year was nice because they had New Super Mario Bros Wii, Sin and Punishment 2, and Spirit Tracks on display. Not to mention Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus, which despite being for casuals are actually fun experiences. Wii Fit Plus in particular has more stuff to do in it than mimic a cold emotionless shell of a human while they show you exercises. But I guess it's relative if you think those things don't count as something a person should be interested in.
  19. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

It looks like my meager civilization is almost at an end. This is like knowing that Krypton is going to be destroyed and not being able to do anything about it. I have sent my son to another planet so that he may live. His dense molecular structure will make him strong. So there's that. I really like this game, though. I look forward to playing again when another game here has an open slot. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning that I'd like to think I wouldn't make again.
  20. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

I hope you're all happy that you are mercilessly wiping out an entire civilization for your own selfish needs of expansion. I continue to hope for a peaceful galaxy.
  21. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

Alright, I joined. Sorry I missed the coordinated roll call. Let's hear it for e-mail notifications of PMs. Looks like I was the last one to join so sorry about potentially ruining whatever coordinated time you guys were attempting to start at. But I'm about to go to work so I figure it'd be best to join now rather than make you guys wait eight more hours.
  22. Next he's going to tell me that Choose Your Own Adventure Books aren't art. The Third Planet from Altair is deeper than Michael Crichton's Congo.
  23. Neptune's Bountiful Pride

I'm aware I'm an unknown around here, but if there's room in a Thumbs game I'd love to play. I just started my first game a few days ago and I'm really enjoying it despite how slow paced it is. At least the length of time it takes to do anything feels like it's trying to simulate the time it'd take to travel to stars. It doesn't feel like you're given arbitrary waiting periods so that the web site makes you come back a lot to up the amount of hits it gets. But then I'd probably find it amusing to play a NASA game where you send someone to outer space and then have to wait a few days before they get anywhere. In the mean time you get to watch choppy videos of them and hear them complain about the food.
