  1. If you're Nintendo's bitch...

Agh.... The only things I've bought are Bit Trip Beat, World of Goo and the original Punch Out!! So I'm not entitled to a sweet Mario hat. Guess I should get on the stick lest I miss out.
  2. Epic Disney on GameInformer

That's exactly what I thought when I finally saw screen shots and not just the more conceptual stuff. Personally, I had never really had an enormous interest in the game in the first place, but it really looks ... Well, yeah, it looks like Kingdom Hearts, which I've also never really had an enormous interest in. Ehh... It might be really fun to play, even if it's a bit boring to look at, at least as far as my personal taste goes. (?) Kids/Kingdom Hearts fans will probably love it? *insert positivity*
  3. Starter Shooters

My colleague's fiancee wants to learn to play video games with him, which is pretty adorable, and she wants to start with some kind of FPS. As I am a huge, wimpy loser who gets seasick playing FPSs, I'm not a great deal of help in this area. I was thinking that Portal might be pretty good, since it's got the game dynamics without all of the jumpy, scary monster action but I was hoping that some of you with stronger constitutions might have some suggestions. Any ideas for a good gateway-shooter?
  4. Life

I'm with you on this one. I think it's hard to meet new people when you move if you aren't in school or in a job that has a lot of people in your general age range. Even then, I think it's rare to meet someone that you really connect with. I'm pretty social and good at meeting people and hitting it off in general, but I've had a hard time since I moved back to San Francisco to start my program, and that was a year plus ago. I'm lucky that most of my close friends don't live that far away. Speaking of moving, move in complete!! Yay! No more crackheads, sirens (well, fewer sirens) and drug deals outside my bedroom!
  5. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

HA! That video was fantastic. I hadn't actually SEEN Red Faction: Guerrilla, only heard about it. It's... gratuitous. I don't think I could actually play it. I'd probably crumble under the weight of my conscience within an hour. Of course, maybe you don't HAVE to annihilate villagers? Anyway, two thumbs up. Most excellent.
  6. PCs and Consoles and Clouds... Oh My!

I've never been able to afford/known what the heck I was doing enough to build a decent computer. As a result I've never really been able to play PC games much at all, especially not the pretty ones. I live for the lowest settings. Now that I've finished school and finally have a big kid job, I've been wanting to build a better machine and play a bunch of games I missed out on back in the day. Unfortunately I'm super lame and I'm so unaccustomed to playing on the PC that I really suck at using the keyboard controls.
  7. Life

Heh. I had the same initial understanding.

sorry to hear that your buddy's having some kind of psychotic episode. It frustrates the heck out of me when people behave like they're furious with me, but won't communicate at all. I'd much rather someone chew me up for some offense I didn't know I committed than leave me in the dark. Ugh.. Around here, it's 5:30 and I've just been awakened again by two idiots in a violent, screaming fight over who stole whose lighter and crackpipe. Thank god tomorrow is moving day. Well, today now.
  9. Life

Ugh! Signor, that's one tragic tale, my friend. Sorry to hear it... I'm impressed with your positive thinking though. Sometimes majorly stumbling once can really center you for the next time around. Best of luck on the 6th!! Just to sour grapes it for you a bit, that other job was probably horrid with a staff with terrible men's room etiquette anyway. Your new job will probably come with foot massages by Valkyries or something of that sort. Happy belated birthday!
  10. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Heh. I was too lazy to look back, so I hope that this isn't a repeat, but this cracked me up. GIANT SEAGULL ATTACKS MELBOURNE http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=a46_1256271481 Also, now I can't WAIT to see 2012. YAY! Hooray, angry piano cat!
  11. Annoying gaming news site headlines

I like to think that the world around me is much funnier than it may actually be. Therefore, I choose to believe that journalists are making a hilarious personal joke with the real head-slapper headlines. Please do not force me to accept reality if this is not actually the case.
  12. Favorite Game, Best Game, Desert Island Game

Favorite game: Probably Chu-lip because it is the most mind bogglingly bizarre game concept ever. Also, it's absolutely hilarious. Best game: Hmm.. If I allow my decision to be influenced by nostalgia, Chrono Trigger. I was absolutely floored by that game when I was but a wee niblet. My recent efforts to replay it haven't really worked out though. I've become impatient in my old age. Desert island game: Probably the Sims. Although I get bored with it pretty quickly under normal circumstances, making tiny people and ruining their lives/making them awesome might stave off insanity induced by my social isolation preventing me from becoming a depraved husk of a human and eating my rescuers.
  13. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

Aww... What a bummer!! The week is going to be substantially less fun and less socially uncomfortable for people who can't hear what I'm cracking up about on my headphones. Best of luck organizing that there community! I hope everyone still hangs out around the forums once the 'cast is retired! Although I'm a recent addition, I dig it around here. Thanks for a great show, guys! :woohoo: also, one more vote for the deleted 'cast blast!

I'll further the positivity. I'm sure it went much better than it feels like it did. I know I have (or at least felt like I have) royally biffed more than my fair share of interviews, but I was just taking every little misstep really hard and over thinking what I said. I think that they're used to people misspeaking because they're nervous or under pressure and take that in into consideration when interviewing people. I understand how you feel though. The waiting is the hardest part, especially when you feel like it didn't go well. Best of luck!!!!
  15. Torchlight?

Ahh... I guess I'm a big jerk then. Heh. Unfortunately, my mouth is much larger than my brain. *open mouth, remove foot*
  16. Starter Shooters

Awesome! Thanks for the tip! I'll give those or some equivalent a try. I somehow feel hilariously cool for taking anti-nausea pills to be able to play a game. What a hero.
  17. Torchlight?

Stick it to the man! I can't hang with the cool MMO crowd either. I get bored so fast, I can never make it through the tutorials.. I am lame.
  18. Starter Shooters

Man.... That game and the half-life series... My deepest nauseous regret. I just tried to play the first half life again the other day and didn't last long. Agh.. I'm so sad. I should try one of those wierd, hippyish copper anti-nausea bracelet thingies.
  19. Just listened to the podcast. Late to the party, as usual. I tried to buy Demon Souls from the very game stop they speak of, and was also unsuccessful. As a matter of fact, I don't know if I've ever actually bought the game I went in for from them. Sadly, my failure often results in alternate game purchases with mixed success. Bah, purchase online it is then.
  20. Starter Shooters

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I'll pass them along.
  21. Torchlight?

It looks pretty fun. If it's just downloaded and you don't have a box it doesn't count toward your guilt pile, right?
  22. Life

Exactly that. Also, I am in strong support of your new avatar, ThunderPeel.
  23. Life

Hah... This picture is having a similar effect on me as the dick-butt from the funny pictures thread did. I may secretly want to be this guy. I don't want to be this guy.
  24. Life

    YOU TOO?!
  25. Life

I'm not quite sure what that means, but I think it may be reflective of my mood as well. I'm not sure what that means either.
