  1. Impromptu post-GDC meetup?

I put a picture of both myself and Dr Strangepork on my account, so you can recognize us. I'm sorry they're ridiculous. I hope we get a chance to meet with you.
  2. Watching other people play games

Oh, man. Seconded. What a sad, dorky, child I was. I think I'm a kindly game watcher in general, but if it's a JRPG with a super-rote, typical battle system, it drives me bananas watching someone who's not used to the routine stumble through the battle menus. I know it's ridiculous, but I find myself practically gnawing on the furniture to keep from lecturing them on how "inefficient" their battle choices are and how long they spend meandering through the skills and whatnot. Agh! This also makes me a little bit sad to be me.
  3. Happy Birthday!

    Thank you!
  4. Life

Speaking of beer, for you, OssK and anyone else who attended GDC and doesn't know anyone (of which I'm sure there are a few) I have a suggestion to get you out and around with some locals if you'd like. On Sunday nights, a local bar here called Vertigo has Rock Band competitions which are a lot of fun and may be a great place for an impromptu pseudo-meet-up. I know the convention ends on Saturday, but if anyone is still in town, my housemate Dr Strangepork and I will probably be there for my birthday anyway. If anyone would like to join in and meet some locals, we'd love to play rock band with you, although we do not have cool jobs that allowed us to attend GDC. The bar is on Polk street and if anyone is interested, I can give you our particulars so that you can recognize us.
  5. ファイナルファンタジーXIII

Oh, well in that case, that's fair enough. The likely-to-be-real, PR answer is also good, I suppose.
  6. GDC 2010 for thumbs?

I wish I could go. Just to gawk at stuff and be nosy, really. All the reasons that no one would want me or other rubberneckers there, of course.
  7. ファイナルファンタジーXIII

Shame. I wonder why they didn't give that option?
  8. ファイナルファンタジーXIII

Waaah!! I haven't had time to even pick my copy up. Ugh. I'm glad to hear that the voice acting is good, since terrible voice acting immediately renders a game unplayable for me. You can't switch to the Japanese voice acting, right? I think that was mentioned previously.
  9. Wizard News!! Final Fantasy XIV

Aww.. He's kind of a cute, stumpy wizard. I never played 11, but I was a little bit sad that the moogles in 12 transformed into flying bunnies. They were pretty cute, but I guess I'm too much of a traditionalist (read: huge, stupid dork). For those of you who did play 11, was there much of a storyline or did you just run around? I shied away from the MMO thing so I don't really know anything about the game and I haven't played any other MMOs for a point of reference.
  10. Flash game websites

This website has lots af really pretty little games. I'm not sure if they're too feminine or simple for a 5 year old, but it may be worth a look. Www.ferryhalim.com
  11. ファイナルファンタジーXIII

My brother pre-ordered it for me for my birthday!! Hooray! I get to pick it up tomorrow.
  12. PSN ID exchange

I'm FuzzyLobster. Please play LBP with me, if anyone still does, since other than that and Fat Princess, I don't think I have any online games.
  13. GDC 2010 for thumbs?

I'll be walking past it every day on my way to work, all the while wishing that I did something more fun for a living.
  14. Watching other people play games

I've always liked watching other people play. I'm terrible at FPS's and get a bit seasick when I try to play myself, but I really wanted to experience a lot of these games I'd heard so much about, especially the first BioShock and the Half Life series. Given my equilibrium disadvantages I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. Watching my housemate play was especially interesting with BioShock. I was able to really take in the environment, which is what interested me about the game in the first place. The times I've tried to play it myself, I find myself either stopping progressing to stand around and look at the details of the room, or tuning them out because I get attacked. It's definitely an entirely different story when you watch someone else, and I appreciate that almost more with certain games. I used to watch my older brother play games all the time when I was little, so I'm completely conditioned to enjoy it. Perhaps manipulated is a better word than conditioned, since by convincing me it was fun to watch, he never had to share the controller.
  15. Civilization V

Seconded. It will be a whole-game experience like the one quote from Civ 4 you get for aesthetics (I think) which is mysteriously read by someone else.
  16. Civilization V

I'm so excited about this game, even though I'll probably still perpetually be _____ the puny, like I always am in Civ 4. Hooray for fall 2010. Please come sooner.
  17. The Only Thing I Know... Is that this is a stupid video!

Oh, blah blah blah. These kinds of things always crack me up. Most hobbies are huge pointless time sinks and if you really don't have a grip, you can ruin your life doing anything. Phh.. Books. Books are just fine, I suppose, but just think of how many trees gamers save every year as an alternatve. A nobler choice, I think.
  18. Gaming virginity loss.

They were extremely scary. I don't know which number it was, but in ours she went around in a museum and a guy in a reaper costume chased you at the end. That scared me so much that I made my brother turn off the music and I had to look away until he beat it.
  19. Gaming virginity loss.

Awesome. My brother and I spent so much time trying to get my mom hooked on adventure games to legitimize our gaming habits. We managed to get her to play an old Sierra game about a female reporter solving murder mysteries (I can't remember what it was called), otherwise we were unsuccessful. Sad. She wouldn't buy us anything after he got Duke Nukem.
  20. Gaming virginity loss.

Dangerous Dave! Woo! Played it on my mom's Apple II that she had in her school classroom. Heck yeah. This screenshot looks much prettier than I remember it being, however.
  21. Bad Games

Hah. You're in good company. Please note my earlier comment about the Spice World game. My excuse is that it was in the free bin at a local used music store and I pathologically cannot say no to free stuff.
  22. Recently completed video games

Same for me, along with a thousand other games that came out between 1998 and 2003 or 2004, since I had no resources with which to play anything. I just beat Dragon Age as a female dwarf noble. Man, that was really super. I haven't been that into a game in quite a while. I kind of want to start a new character, but I have so many other games I haven't even touched since I've been playing it.
  23. Life

Oh, man. I would find that really discouraging. Optimism! There will be others! That Sandpit thing looks really fun! I wonder if there's anything similar here?
  24. Bad Games

Oh, yeah! Blazing Dragons, that was it. I had forgotten that it was made by one of the Monty Python dudes. I've also completely forgotten the minigames. That game was pretty ridiculous. Leisure Suit Larry is a pretty worthy addition to the terrible games list. My brother had 3 or 4 of them right next to his gross RPG. I always found them wildly funny and kind of addicting, though. I'm going to have to throw in the Dead or Alive Volleyball games as almost hilarious and yet a bit too creepy to tolerate for more than 5 minutes.
  25. Bad Games

Yes. That dragon game was most certainly a "so bad, it's good"er. If anyone has played this and knows what it's called please remind me. Speaking of so completely wierd and bad it's awesome, Chulip. Again.
