Whoever made that decision deserves a really hard slap.

Ouuuch. That might be an idea, yeah. A buddy of mine was having the same problem, though his was rising to about 120. I actually gulped when I saw it. After applying new thermal paste and cleaning out his case it sank to about 35 while idling, and 45-55 on full load. Which I thought was incredibly weird. But I don't question good news. Not much, anyway.

Nachimir: Good point. I guess despite default placement, the AI will invariably change it up. Side-note: I had no idea that Paul Dini--who's written tons of stuff for various superheroes, Batman included--wrote this game. Not only is that totally awesome, it helps explain why it's so damn good. They actually got an experienced dude to do it. Sorry, just a personal moment of me being oblivious. Edit: In case anyone experienced the same lack of clue, I recommend watching this http://www.gametrailers.com/video/director-interview-batman-arkham/55009

As far as I could tell, the AI spawns at the exact same place every time. Which does make it easier to plan and execute, but you can't get lucky beyond not getting killed if you're spotted. So I'm saying exploits, mostly because 20 seconds is outrageous.

It doesn't surprise me that a game this similar to Gothic 3 runs poorly on lots of systems. It does make me frown in a sad manner, though. Oh, and my system is nearly 3 years old. Pretty much the same as yours, so that probably doesn't affect anything, no matter how much it should.

Do you ever get the feeling you're talking to yourself? I tried the demo a few days ago and right out of the gate (or should I say ocean har-har), like you, I got slapped in the face with Gothic 3. But I persevered, gave it a half hearted go. And I don't totally regret that. Kinda. It ran smoothly enough for me, the gameplay was okayish, but I wonder if the age of Gothic II has passed? I don't know if we really need another game like this. Then again, the demo was pretty short, so maybe after it opens up and you get all these cool open world possibilities it'll get better. No matter which way I spin it, I don't think I can justify a purchase. Side-note: What graphics card and CPU do you have? And what graphics driver were you using when you ran the demo?

I like to think I've gotten a decent hold on the combat, so my advice is to check youtube for some clips of people showing off combos. I put a few up myself, mostly to show a buddy how bloody cool the combat can get if you really get into it. If you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfhLV-3G3Vs

Ah, my bad. Thought your reference to Valve meant you used Steam. I clearly missed the "also"

Shoulda gotten it off their website--eh, not to rub that in your face or anything. I love that they give you a small download with some desktop-sized screens and five songs off the soundtrack. Such a trivial thing to be excited about, but it just warms my heart.

Hadn't heard anything about this before I tried the demo, and what a lovely surprise! I've officially started looking forward to this.

"I had a really cool way to describe this game, but I came up with it in between sleeping fits, and now it's all but forgotten." -IGN.com Something similar may have happened to me.

You people are making me really sad that this isn't coming to the PC!

Yeah, just to clarify, the maps are there even if you haven't finished the game. They're usually moderately hidden, though. Similarly to Nachimir, I spent about half the game with detective mode (such a preposterous name, really). I did often tell myself to turn it off, but it quickly became a habit. I find it's much like Oblivion's fast travel.

That trailer really sucked. And I don't mean the gameplay or the overarching theme of how Sam's gone completely homicidal. I mean the way it's cut together. I didn't like the look of it at all. The editor that said that was all fine and dandy needs a knife through his hand. Alright, that was a bit too much. Reminds me of the Dragon Age trailer. And I didn't even mind the Marylin Manson that much. It was just shoddy craftsmanship. So there.

Having just played through Metastasis, I can tell you there's an ending to the island part, which, eh, seems to be the conclusion of the fourth episode, which in turn is the final episode of the first chapter. Hmm.. MINERVA 'Metastasis' (Chapter 1) Episodes- 1. Carcinogenesis 2. Downhill Struggle 3. Depth Charge 4. Pegasus [They're all included in the download you get from the main site.] He's still working on the next chapter, titled 'Out of Time'. Amazingly well done mod.

There's also a free trial on Steam. I heart Steam.

Isn't that a bit hyperbolic? I always thought the DLC ending was just to extend the story. I, myself, personally, found the ending to the full game more than adequate.
-
Not to sound completely shallow.. but, you know.. it's gonna happen: How have the graphics improved in Warband? After having played default M&B, that is.
-
Rez: Make sure you try doing it on hard next time. If you're anything like me it gives you a real appreciation for what you've learned in the combat, etc.

Not sure what my favorite ending is, but the one I loved that's fairly recent in my mind is Dead Space. Some people I know said it came off as a cheap scare, but it did the trick for me. I loved the story in it, though, so maybe I'm not entirely trustworthy. I also really liked the way Braid ended. The final "climactic" level and how it completely shifts the perspective, in addition to the last few books and the hidden texts. It's a bit tragic, but it can also be interpreted in different ways. Good game, too.

Oh yeah, definitely. I also loved how Batman grows a damned beard. That and all the slashes and cuts he gets all really add to the immersion. It's strange, but I found myself feeling a bit sorry for him towards the end. The poor sap looked kinda worn down.

Strangely enjoyable. Reminded me a bit of Drawn: The Painted Tower.. though I don't think I know why. Maybe the artsy feel of it. Either way, thanks for the tip! Edit: I had to remark on the music in Alchemia. Eh, it was pretty great. That's it.

I agree. In hindsight, KoTOR just felt bigger. At least to me.

I only really have two games lying around that I have yet to finish: The Witcher (lost my saves the first time, and got to around act 3 the second time through, then I just stopped) and Time Gentlemen, Please! I thought Ben There, Dan That! was pretty great, and since I donated for it I got TGP! for free.. yet I just can't seem start it up. My inability to do so actually gets annoying. I highly doubt you'll regret it. Such a lovely game.
