the distant ones seemed to be pretty slow but i've had minimal trouble with trains and portals. did you mess with the fps limiter/ "performance" settings?
i'm also very impressed that it let you copy the nether over and that it still works. if I was a betting man, I'd be broke

that looks awesome!

yeah that's still somewhat buggy. still, this version does seem to be a bit more stable (only took him 6 tries too!)

Reggie's boring and Cammie is gone, so hopefully we get a good dose of Iwata acting like some kind of digital wizard, going on like video games are magic
and maybe some of this for chuckles:
as for microsoft and sony... well they can't be any worse than last year's...

Killzone 4 being announced in 4D."Gentlemen! We present the full power of the Cell Processor"

I'm bored out of my fucking mind having finished university seemingly a month before all my incredibly busy friends and having failed to find anything productive to do with myself until at least August. So I'll be up all night watching streams and mashing bullshit in IRC channels like it's 2005.
yeah if youtube is streaming coverage again this year, i'll undoubtedly have a tab open with it running because I don't have anything better to do either. at least for the keynote presentations

supposedly Essentials is updated now
http://earth2me.net:8002/viewLog.html?buildId=1693&buildTypeId=bt2&tab=artifacts
looking at this stuff, frankly I'm amazed this game/these plugins even work as well as they do. but that's why i'm not an expert

i'd give my theoretical first-born for a mod that changes the checkpoint respawn rate to 24 in-game hours.
-
i was trying to knock down a sign that someone else had put up (so i could change the text) and it wouldn't let me. is this a new feature of Essentials?
anyway I added a third platform to the roman city/tracy island station that goes out to the pyramid, but it's barely labeled because I couldn't do anything to those signs.

eurogamer spoke highly of it and i have to agree. of the 10-12 missions i've played through, there's been good variety and some interesting level design. plus if you fail, the stage gets re-rolled (sometimes it's just the starting locations), so it stays kind of interesting. it's really quite good!
oh also it seems to be less buggy in windowed mode for some reason, in case you're having issues

feel free to challenge me so long as you don't mind asynchronous play

i just copy pasted that from the Steam forums so don't get pissy with me
map creation itself is crazy easy and fun but actually creating scenarios is a little puzzling. i hope they (or someone) makes a slightly more friendly editor. in theory they'd only have to mess with the UI to make it less complicated
i wouldn't mind being able to import those maps into skirmish, unless there already is a way and i'm dumb/blind
-
holy shit, there's a mission editor built in, sort of
Hit the key above your tab key. "`" This will open the console then type this exactly
loadeditor();
Hit enter and hit the "`" key again.
The editor is unoffically supported. Here's a rough guide posted by one of the devs.

my understanding of optimization coding is pretty limited but i don't understand how frames per second affects chunk loading, as notch talks about on his blog.
all i do know is that frame limiters are good things, especially on a game that bounces anywhere between 40 and 200fps for me. there is NO REASON to have anything run at 200 fps
-
as an old-school rainbow 6 fan, this game is a dream come true.
my only minor disappointment is that the skirmish editor is a little bare-bones. i'd like to see a "scenario creator." where maybe you could set up your own escort mission or defense mission or whatever. a lot of those are available in the campaign and you can randomize them but being able to make them from scratch would be awesome.

With X-COM too, it seems the new vogue is for taking classic strategy game IPs and making slightly lacklustre FPS games out of them that miss the point.
X-COM as a brand was tarnished years ago with the crap that came out after TFTD bearing its name.
X-COM is a weird thing to "reboot" because the only people who are going to have name recognition with it are likely the ones who would want another X-COM strategy game. slapping its name on a barely related FPS is a really puzzling move.
And I guess that applies to Syndicate too, except that actually had console spinoffs way back when. i also agree though that Syndicate without disposable units isn't really Syndicate?
I can't wait for Shadowrun Kart Racers

the best part about that patch is if you have the GOG version the patch is something like 9mb. for what it's worth, it didn't do jack dick towards improving performance for me.
maybe they can just patch me a new computer

4 bug patches in a day
might take a little while i think for 1.6 to not suck

those are the same swords i had that got carried over. the best part was finding a better sword on a random soldier in the prologue
SO MUCH FOR THAT EH

I don't know why I got such a kick out of this, but I love how the characters don't hold doors open for each other. After I saved Zoltan and Dandelion, I stood back and watched in amusement as they, accompanied by Triss and Vernon Roche, filed one by one into the tavern each slamming the door in the other's face. How rude.there's also some genuinely poor design behind the doors too. anytime there's an enemy on the other side of a door or ladder, you're hopelessly stuck because it won't let you activate them in combat. it happened a lot and i got really mad at it
-
yeah iorveth makes several LOTR jokes. one was funny. after that it was a little concerning...
oh yeah, and the random Kierkegaard reference which i thought was even weirder

honestly witcher 2 is a prettier version of TW1 with sort of different combat. if you're a fan of the first one-for any reason- you'll like this one.
the reviews that say it ends abruptly are dead on though, unfortunately
it's awesome, awesome, awesome... and then it just stops.

yup, i died a bunch of times just trying to figure out what i was even supposed to do there. and then of course once i did, i did it the first time.

i'm in the same boat, i've barely played my 360 in months. forza 4 will change that and i'll get BF3 for 360 to play with friends, but it's looking like a pc/ps3 year for single player games
