when i built that ugly tower, about 4 floors were below cloud level, one was at it, and there were two more above it. not very scientific, but there you go. its height was maxed out

it's down while it's being transferred to another server

okay, Butt Town Inc.'s first game, "Rocket Ass," a graphics intensive PC adventure game only recouped about 30% of what it cost to make and got middling reviews, but we can only go up from here! (right? ) update: "Dick Puppet Rodeo," a console animal puzzle game didn't do too much better. Again, it had great graphics. Hm. update 2: "Urethra Franklin," a ninja adventure game breached the top 10! raking in the dough despite poor reviews!

oh man, i'd heard about this and figured i'd check it out once things had settled down for me, but that was when i thought it was a pc game. iphone game? hell yeah. i'll have some time i'll need to kill in the near future. Butt Town Inc. is go!

i'm not saying it's not easy because it is. but it's also fun and looks good imo. and if you can find a way to make 2d pixel art not look like shit in 3d then you're better than me. as far as i'm concerned it's just fun to look at. i'll make buildings and other structures in 3d.

okay i did a test. i have a very long track (takes about 2 minutes to run). i went the direction that has the mountain at the very end. with one booster it got all the way to the mountain and ran out of power halfway up. with two boosters it went clear over. so yeah it seems to make a difference, but maybe only over long distances?
-
i'm pretty sure it just determines how the world is generated at its creation. i've seen other people talking about going into their old map with some kind of editor and deleting all the undeveloped areas, leaving only the areas with shit they've built. that way when they import it post patch they'll still have all their old crap but access to new features. i really don't see how this would work with the hell dimension though? i mean maybe it would? i guess we could always try, but to be honest i have no qualms with just starting with a blank canvas.

i hear that chrisremo guy is a serious griefer.
-
actually, here you go. there's a 3 block flat part midway up but for the most part it's a straight 45 degree incline. takes it like it's nothing. edit: i went back and worked on the track. added about 1500 track pieces, going around corners, up and over mountains, underground and on and on. never needed another boost after that first "dick" booster. this is really fascinating to me.
-
nope, pretty much 45 degree angle. elevation doesn't seem to factor into the momentum (as long as you're under the boost power, not gravity momentum), it seems to be more of a distance thing? gonna play around with it some more later
-
you speak as though that's a bad thing?
-
i hope so. if not, they better not get "fixed" until then. i just tried one out and got it powerful enough to carry up a 30-block incline mountain and go 300 or so tiles. i did it by making a double booster. obviously the middle track is the one you ride on

game is reaching critical mass what with the update. hell i only got it a month ago.

the best one i saw was just a glass walkway with periodic stone pillars with ladders to the ground. at intersections there were signs pointing to areas of interest. it was a really great way to get a good overview of the land and it was easy to get off and explore and then find another entrance to get back up. it was so nice.
-
okay goddammit. after visiting a few more random servers, i think one of my first major projects on the new world is going to be setting up a decent skyway. something nice, organized, made of glass so you can see, places for signs, etc.
-
i think just the name you use on the server

well that's the point of biomes, so that you'll get different zones with different climates. shoot, i'll hang out in the snowy area

ah here we go, they used this: http://github.com/brownan/Minecraft-Overviewer Frankly I'm not smart enough to figure this out but we should definitely keep it in mind for later.
-
check this out, another server somehow got their minecraft map into a google maps powered version. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/75343/Finalfight/index.html I haven't the foggiest how to do that but it's cool as hell

it's ridiculous, after i joined we dug around for well over an hour and kept finding unexplored caverns. the most lava i've ever seen in one place, no doubt.
-
ha! nice one chris...

the only thing that would really suck if he fixed that bug would be if he also fixed the "throw to repair tools" bug. there's no reason diamond tools should be a commodity in a MP setting. and maybe he could cut the obsidian mining time in half.

kingz, el muerte, and myself are all good at duplicating items so if you ever find that you need something you can't find, one of us probably has or can make it. in my eyes, it's the building that's interesting, not the endless resource gathering.
