  1. A Valley without Wind

I'm really not bothered by the graphics, despite the fact that they really are kind of ugly. I'm more bothered by the fact that I can't figure out why I'm supposed to be doing what I'm doing. I guess wandering around in procedurally generated areas is amusing enough for a while, but I just can't find why I should be motivated to do so? I've gathered a million random things and crafted some skills but for what? The combat is dull, the platforming is... whatever... and everywhere I go is pretty much the same. You don't even get the fun you get from Terraria or Minecraft where you get to make your own fun by building things. It's a neat exercise in programming but as a game it falls pretty flat.
  2. Lone Survivor

the thing that sucks most about the fullscreen deal is that the text is obnoxiously huge and kind of hard to read because of it.
  3. Zorro Joins Double Fine

I've always wondered if being employed by a game company would affect one's ability to do critical journalism like reviews or podcasts. for example would it be frowned upon for Chris to talk negatively about a microsoft or warner brothers game since some of DF's games were published by them? I bring this up because I'm so used to seeing it in the movie industry where it's scandalous if an actor slams a movie that it blew my mind when I saw the way it's handled in literature. Authors routinely review and talk shit on other people's books. But also because I'd be sad if for some reason it was frowned upon for Thumbs to make fun of games like Old Man Clancy's HAW.

The safest and most efficient depth for diamond mining is Y = 12 (press f3). That's the height of lava pools so you're not likely to have it fall on your head and diamonds are relatively common there.
  5. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

It's all about enchanted picks with efficiency and fortune. Diamonds everywhere.
  6. Grim Dawn

I too also liked titan quest more than diablo 2. I've been looking forward to grim dawn for so long that I actually forgot it existed... It looks awesome
  7. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

hahah fuckin' jennoa's hole. we spent so much time on that thing. we are idiots
  8. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

The dynamic map totally works on iPad and looking at it made me wish I had my computer here
  9. Legend of Grimrock - Tile based Dungeon Crawler!

Exactly, I was already going to buy it "sometime" but Steve's tweets about the game pushed me into buying it sooner. The price point and word of mouth have sold a lot of people that I know that might otherwise not ever paid it any mind.
  10. Legend of Grimrock - Tile based Dungeon Crawler!

Man. this is the best $13 I've spent in a while. Totally rad. It's funny how they'll probably make more money by selling it at an impulse price than if it was $30 or so, which they could have easily charged.
  11. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

I would have some interest in playing again. I have practically no interest in building amazing things, but digging super elaborate underground bases is always fun to me. By the last epoch I was totally burned out but I think I'm ready to play again. Probably not Creative though.
  12. yeah there was one morning i rolled in and it was just you and jake so i /tp'd over there to find this amazing thing that jake had just gone bananas on for some ridiculous amount of time. and you would NEVER find it unless you knew what you were looking for. and now it's on a podcast.
  13. 0x10c -- Next little number from Mojang

i think the idea behind the whole thing is fantastic. it seems almost little big planet-ish in that people can share code. it'll be fascinating when some of the goofballs who made actual working computers in minecraft get to tinkering with the ship's computer. whether the project will work out, or whether it will ever be finished, it's one of the more interesting game ideas i've heard in a while.
  14. Metal Gear SoliHD

peacewalker is alright. definitely didn't love it as much as some of my friends. it gets really repetitive fast and doesn't have much of a payoff. I wish they'd port the Ac!d games to console.
  15. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

5PDuqk_DSMw okay so this is old as dirt but it's still so fabulous
  16. Your first gaming device...

This! My earliest gaming memory was playing 4 player Warlord or Combat.
  17. Mass Effect 3

I didn't catch that part. What a bunch of assholes. Yes the ending is horseshit. Move on with your life.
  18. Bastion

I picked this up during the Christmas Steam sale and finally got around to playing it this weekend. It didn't really blow me away or anything but I was still very pleased by the whole thing. Good show, Kasavin. Also, I do love some lazy weekend- length games. A nice change after the bombardment of stupidly long games that came out late 2011. I will say this though, I'm half-tempted to blow through NG+ with my fully upgraded spear because that thing is hilariously overpowered
  19. Legend of Grimrock

huh, so it's a Wizardry-descendant with semi-real time elements? Screenshots did NOTHING to tell me that and I was kind of writing it off until I saw the trailer.
  20. iOS Gaming

I was always lukewarm on games on the iphone, but ipads kind of change the game entirely. I keep thinking about how well Fallout would port to it. (please oh please)
  21. the title of this episode has forever ruined Greg's name in my mind. he is now forever "Games" Kasavin
  22. Please enter your birth date to continue.

did Steam just recently start remembering ages? last game I bought (JA:BIA) defaulted to Jan 1 1961, which is most likely the last one I entered. Yay?
  23. Mass Effect 3

COMMANDER SHEPARD! you're an avatar for the resistance, a beacon for all who fight for an uncertain tomorrow, humanity's last, best hope... you mind hopping on that turret?
  24. Halo 4

it's not really their first game though, is it? didn't they make ODST? That was a good, and refreshingly different take on the series. That said, if we're continuing the Master Chief story, I'd kind of prefer they didn't get too clever with it. Save that for other Halo-universe games.
