yep. and my house could easily be modified to be a self-sustainable ecosystem, safe from monsters. i've done it in SP games, same blueprints. i never have to leave my house to get wood or food, and monsters can't get me there. i'd be excited to have that in a MP situation

i would really have no problem if duplication stopped working, mainly now it's just more of a convenience than anything. it's not like i build with rare materials or anything. if you could reliably hunt creepers for gunpowder you wouldn't need to dupe tnt either. basically, if things worked the way they're supposed to, duping wouldn't even be necessary.

in his attempt to make people riding boats and minecarts not look like shit, he adjusted the server/client reporting rate, which also broke mining. it's interesting, his weird, failed experiments are kind of passively teaching me more about server and networking code.

the worst fate you'll suffer is being bored. his "worst" movies are the best, like bloodrayne, house of the dead, etc. alone in the dark was so, so boring. i couldn't sit through postal. honestly if you find his movies more offensive to your sensibilities than bruckheimer or michael bay movies then there's no hope for you.

I sat through an hour long panel with him, which was basically him lecturing an ever-diminishing crowd. It was basically one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed. He explained why Postal was a great game ("you can kill the children and then piss on the children"), and waxed ecstatic about how Kristianna Loken was the best actress he'd ever worked with while the actress from Bloodrayne 2 squirmed uncomfortably behind him. There was a guy on stage who was there to supposedly be leading the panel who asked about one question before Uwe's tirade. I can never hate Boll now. The more critics pan him, the more determined he is to piss them off and show them his genius. As far as I could tell, dude was 100% serious, and if he wasn't, then he's easily the greatest living deadpan artist and I respect him either way. How unhappy do you have to be in life to hate something that is inexorably horrible without any sense of irony? People who consciously make terrible art to be cute or clever are the real assholes. Boll can make all the delusional movies he wants, imo. Getting mad about Uwe Boll sucking at making movies is about as pointless as getting mad at the ocean for being wet.

mega man, like a lot of sprites, was a composite of several 16x16 sprites. i guess in theory each one could have 4 separate colors, falling within whatever maximum bounds the system allowed? i think default was 16 for the whole screen but developers did some crazy tricks with code to bypass that. i mean i guess i'm not against this in spirit but pixel art =/= nes sprites. it's kind of like the divide between people who make chiptunes with actual or emulated nes/gameboy hardware and those who use somewhat similar square/triangle/noise waves. it's way more interesting to me to see people work within the boundaries of the original hardware.

if we're being super picky, couldn't NES only have 4 colors per sprite as well?

so uh, this game is kind of shockingly good. i mean "i haven't touched the single player at all and have 14 hours of multiplayer already" good. if you asked me to write a checklist of things to change to fix what was bad about MW2, treyarch ticked pretty much all of the boxes. totally surprised and pleased.

supposedly. there's also now a "no animals" setting which is pretty hot. also, the server needs to be updated, won't allow connections

coming tomorrow: Multiplayer fixes: * hellworld=true no longer overwrites old save chunks. Player positions will still break if you switch it on a running server, though * boats are now visible to other players * minecarts move nicer * fishing kinda sorta works, but needs more work * sheep and cows look like sheep and cows now * buckets work now * fixed stairs being really difficult to destroy * increased the timeout before “Took too long to log in” * made it possible to ride carts and boats (pigs should work too..) EFFING MINECARTS!
