  1. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

yeah the videos i've seen made it look buggy as hell. and for a game series that basically depends on running and looking great, it doesn't have much to offer if you have to wade through broken scripting and various CTDs. i'll just wait for the actual release and buy it then plus I'm old now and release dates don't mean much to me anymore, with a few exceptions. waiting a month to play crysis 2 isn't the end of the world for me.

the airplane came together over two days and i'm not happy at all with it, but i'm also not really keen to fix it either.
  3. Recettear: An Item Shop's Sale

i played through it 3-4 times and you can actually see most of the game in one playthrough if you know what you're doing/get lucky. there's actually some stuff i haven't even seen yet
  4. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

yeah go to my house in New Haven, there's a working one there.
  5. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

i'm actually kind of glad notch is doing "big picture" stuff now and jahkob is handling a lot of feature updates, because his stuff seems to be less buggy and more interesting in general.
  6. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

just give yourself some of that nether material that burns and use that instead for the braziers.
  7. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

ah if you fixed that thank you. i've gotten screwed a couple times lately due to that.
  8. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

demons souls' difficulty was all up front, by which i mean the learning curve is basically a vertical line. once you sink 2-3 hours into it and begin to understand exactly what it is that the game is asking of you, it's not too much more difficult than your average game. after that it only really "punishes" you if do something stupid like approach a fight the wrong way or try an area you're not really equipped for yet. i think the most "hardcore" part of the game is that you can't just wander into a situation for the first time and hope to just "wing it." you really need to play quite deliberately and cautiously and not be afraid to die a few times along the way. i'm generally pretty bad at a lot of games, and i'll freely admit it. i think it took me double the normal amount of in-game time to beat DS the first time through and i had to ask for advice from friends just to get past certain areas. but i stuck with it and eventually pushed through to the end, and found what was ultimately one of the most satisfying game experiences i've had in a long time. there was a "breaking point" i hit where i had struggled and struggled and had only beaten 3 or 4 stages over the course of like two months of intermittent play. at that one point, everything clicked and almost immediately i was knocking out stage after stage. that moment of realization, of mastering a skill, and having things change like the flick of a switch is what made it so rewarding. if you persist until you get to that point, you'll find one of the best console games of this generation.

"you host" "no YOU host." "why is Hermie underground?"
  10. Magicka

so much of the game's appeal lies in the constant risk of blowing yourself up, and being punished so severely for it really seems counterproductive. maybe if it had lives, and you could earn more by pulling off crazy things like big multikills. i don't know. it really feels like it borrowed the minecraft theory of "buying the beta," i just wish it was advertised as such. it's within arms reach of being super awesome and it just hasn't quite made it there yet.
  11. Magicka

yeah you dudes hit me up too, i should be around most of the weekend. the game is kind of... unplayable in single player. i haven't beat the third chapter yet. die, start all over, die, start all over... it's fairly obvious this game was pretty much designed with a 4 person party in mind. too bad it barely works that way.
  12. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

actually it seems more of a case of you can't set water at all. for me anyway. it's the only major problem i've run across.
  13. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

yay! thank you! oh man there's a ton of new stuff to do now. dispensers, dyes... if i wasn't on unemployment, i'd gladly help donate some more...
  14. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

nope, can't dig, build, operate doors...
  15. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

it works of course currently i can't even leave my house because of permissions, but whatever. success nonetheless.
  16. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

I could go either way. i stopped trying to play when i would downgrade to connect, spend 10 minutes connecting, play for an hour, and then it would download another update, causing me to downgrade again, spend another 10 minutes logging in, and so on. if craftbukkit works, i'll play it. if you decide to kill it, that would be okay too, as long as the world is made available to download (i've grown fairly fond of it) ideally though, MP would start working again and people would still be interested in playing it. i have plenty of things i'd still like to do
  17. Magicka

yeah it got stuck there for me too. it's not that it does'nt work (did you get the green numbers?), it's that the prompts are broken. you have to cut the rope (heh) on the bottom right of the room to go forward
  18. Magicka

it's... simple in theory? the difficulty comes in trying to cast the right spell at the right time which is WAY harder than you'd think it would be. it is kind of funny though when you go to throw an ice shield up and instead you drop health landmines that cure all your enemies. the game is funny in that i think i'll have way less fun with it when i'm actually good at it. i'm mildly annoyed that to use frontal attacks with some things you have to enchant your sword and then attack again. Diablo meets QWOP maybe?
  19. Magicka

i thought about getting dead space 2, balked at the price, and bought this instead. looks like fun, it's downloading now
  20. Ghost Trick DS

that's a worse name than Alien Hallway
  21. Nintendo 3DS

assuming i'm working/making money, it's absolutely a day 1 perch for me. i'm fascinated by the technology and i buy every other console, so why not. it'll have some kickass 1st party titles, like every other nintendo console, if nothing else.
  22. Swarm

in a weird way it makes me think of a platformer version of World of Goo
  23. Duke Nukem Forever Canned [and then not]

at this point i almost don't care if it's an unquantifiable mess. i'll likely buy it when it comes out just out of 10+ years of accumulated curiosity. that said, i never did play Daikatana
  24. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

doesn't matter anyway because minecraft.net is down and has been down for well over a day. probably best to just wait it out
  25. Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

yeah monster spawners have always been in the game. a long time ago, they used to have the monster pictures, which were taken out, and then put back in again
