hopefully it's more than "cart goes on its own" because like you said, we already have that... sort of. now if there are ways to make it stop at certain places, say train stations, where you could just hit a button to keep going or get out where you are, then I'm all for it. since these are "powered" it will be interesting to see if it requires laying several kilometers of redstone and repeaters to make it work. if i have to dig up all the track pieces i laid to replace them with the new type of track, then then again, this could actually make our old "grand central station" idea finally feasible. i would really like to figure out a way to have a big honking station with one launch point, where, through a series of switches and indicator lights, one could dial up their destination probably pipe dreams...

so apparently powered rails are making an appearance in 1.5
  3. Portal 2

me too, but i think we may be barking up the wrong tree in this thread
  4. Portal 2

if you have Defense Grid, there are some really easy potatoes in there. bit.trip.beat's aren't as easy but they're still pretty easy. i got 7 of them in about an hour i guess? i'm going to leave defense grid running in the background while i do some other stuff. hope that helps
  5. Portal 2

i'll tell you this for one thing: it worked on me. i'm finally going to play Amnesia after buying it 5 months ago. also that bar is filling up agonizingly slow but i imagine it will shoot up pretty dramatically once Americans start getting home from work/school
  6. Portal 2

so this is a thing: http://www.aperturescience.com/a/b/c/d/g/h/abcdgh/ zero hour: noon EST
  7. Portal 2

while that is cool, it's not a new thing. one of the most "famous" examples of that is from an Aphex Twin song
  8. Portal 2

uhh... my portal 2 pre-load is updating with a 250mb patch. hmmmm

the subways are BYOCart, you put them at the end, get in, and hit the button food dispenser works, you just have to wait for the items to float down. i know it's stocked because i checked yesterday and each dispenser was nearly full. i love superstructures but i'm useless at building anything that isn't simple geometrical shapes. i'm going to have an aneurysm trying to make all my piston ideas work though.

I built what is basically a food vending machine off the walkway right near spawn. You can't miss it, it's got a red/yellow banner. Push the button(s) for the item(s) you want, wait a few seconds, and they'll drop down. It uses a conveyor belt so the items further back might take 10 seconds or so. If you're curious how it works, the roof is glass and there's a ladder in the back to get up there. So basically if you need health fast and safe, teleport back to spawn and dial up some grub.

so do I, but adding 1 feature every 2 months or so isn't really the ideal way to do it. I'm all for just going nuts and adding tons and tons of stuff. who cares about balance? now that he's got the netcode mostly working fine now, just give us 2-3 new blocks or items or something every two weeks or so. how hard could it be, and what could it possibly hurt? even if they're just craftable blocks that are only aesthetically different, you know? how about a few more lighting options that aren't shitty torches? maybe something that looks good?
  13. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

yeah it does if you want to go that route. there's only a handful of areas where the enemies respawn endlessly. for the most part, if you don't sound any alarms, you can wipe out every enemy in an area and have free rein to explore, restock on ammo, and search for collectibles.
  14. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

this seems to be the case with most people who actually play the damn thing
  15. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

the fact that so many people don't realize that article is satire is genuinely bumming me out.
  16. Crysis 2: Oh Shit.

it's really nice seeing people whose opinions i trust (Chris, Shawn Eliott) echo my own on this game. i had a blast with it. even though it's a "linear" game (yeah yeah), the freedom the game affords you in the "arenas" is totally refreshing. there was never a time where i wanted to approach a situation in a certain way, where the game wouldn't let me. i felt totally empowered, and that's how it should be, honestly. yeah, sucks about the lack of graphics customization and the god-awful checkpoint save system, but the game itself makes up for it. i was kind of worried that i was just being blinded by how pretty and slick it is, but it's nice to see that so many other people like it too. and props to crytek for allowing a "new game +" of sorts (you keep your upgrades and attachments for future playthroughs). it seems like such a simple idea, give people a reason to play multiple times- for fun, not achievements.
  17. Atom Zombie Smasher

yeah there are some known issues. Brendon is trying to keep up with them, go to Blendo's forum, there's some threads there. the demo is pretty much broken on my machine, even after trying all the fixes he suggested. I'll probably buy it once it gets patched, because from what I could tell it was pretty cool

apart from my stargate pyramid, i haven't seen very much sandstone used yet so i'd guess it's sand that wants to kill you.
  19. Demon's Souls

there isn't. did you get the thief ring from 1-1? that will make your life WAY easier. i was stuck for the longest time in that game until a friend told me i missed the thief ring and to get the crescent falchion from 4-1 and after that it all started to click. those first few levels are by far the hardest until you get the rhythm down. http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/954345-demons-souls/answers?qid=118939

  22. RISK: Factions

this is a good policy in general.
  23. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

actually I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining. I would have reloaded if it was pissing me off. it was just complicated, confusing, and kind of funny.
  24. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

I was playing the ArmA 2 demo, and was running across a field with my squad when something hit me and I fell to the ground. It wouldn't let me stand up anymore but I didn't seem to be dying. So instead of reloading, I tried to see what I could do. My entire squad ran ahead of me. I tried the radio a hundred times and for some reason couldn't call for help. When another squad ran by, I fired my gun into the air a few times to get their attention- nothing. I pressed every button on my keyboard. Some multiple times. I eventually gave up and crawled for 15 real-life minutes to a nearby road, where I waited for a car to pass by. Eventually a truck drove up, and ignoring my gestures drove right over me. I passed safely between the tires. I waited 5 more minutes, no other cars came by. I crawled for 10 more minutes to a nearby farm. There was a pickup truck there, so I started crawling towards it. Suddenly three armed russians came out and shot me with no warning. That was my half hour in ArmA 2.

yeah, supposedly. Although el muerte, tabacco and I were all standing in a cave and only el muerte saw these supposed slimes.
