  1. The Witcher 2

maybe but i love RPGs like that. this game is exhausting to play for more than two hours at a time or so, mostly because of information overload/ feeling like "work" that's also probably why it takes 6 hours to get you up to full speed...
  2. The Witcher 2

i actually just unlocked those shortly before heading off to bed and they're GLORIOUS. the first time you wipe out a whole room feels so good. i feel like the game finally starts fully coming together about 2/3 of the way through chapter 1, which is what, 6-8 hours or so into the game if you're not rushing? which is kind of funny considering the last game I beat before this was the nu-Medal of Honor, which took me just under 4 hours to beat the entire game.
  3. The Witcher 2

it autosaves pretty often but i'd recommend quicksaving periodically too. in a weird way, starting out getting your ass kicked and building up to being an invincible superman is kind of a brave/cool idea. it makes every level and every skill feel that much more important. still, getting torn to shreds by trash mobs can be a little frustrating
  4. The Witcher 2

not really but if you're a regular PC gamer it's relatively easy to tweak until you get something functional. the good news is it looks good even on the crappiest settings so anything on top of that is icing also, yeah, jesus, this game is goddamn hard. it is seriously not shy about handing you your ass over and over right at the beginning of the game. it's kind of weird coming off being practically invincible in the first game.
  5. The Witcher 2

yeah as soon as you get to act 1 (flotsam) it blows wide open. in fact i just turned it off because my head literally started to hurt from trying to process how many missions i just picked up and how big the area i had to explore was. i have a less-than-impressive setup and it runs really well on relatively high settings. i just disabled motion blur and depth of field because i don't like them anyway, and cranked the textures to the highest. by the way i'm playing with the xbox controller and i feel like it's absolutely the right way to play. and even when you bring up the menus you can use the mouse so it's the best of both worlds.
  6. The Witcher 2

shoulda GOGged it. on top of everything else, it downloaded for me at over 3mb/s which is massive. Steam and even torrents usually cap at about 1.5 for me.
  7. The Witcher 2

as much as I support good tips on loading screens and such, I'd be happy with a list of ALL the commands somewhere I can look at in-game.
  8. The Witcher

in a December interview one of the producers mentioned the possibility of a PS3 ME2 style save creator, but nobody's said anything since. I hope it's in there.
  9. The Witcher 2

yup. as far as I can tell it's mentioned nowhere in the game or documentation. someone in the somethingawful Witcher 2 thread mentioned it and it blew my mind.
  10. The Witcher 2

no, he's right, a lot of the menus were abominations. the inventory screen especially pissed me off. it's obvious they were more concerned about aesthetics rather than ergonomics if that makes any sense. for example: when you open your inventory, it only takes up about 1/4 of the screen, but then each item slot is about 10px high and you have to mouseover everything to see what it is. it takes way too long to find a specific potion or ingredient. when you're trying to sell things, if you have a stack of items, you have to double click on the item, mouse over to the middle of the screen, move the quantity slider (which defaults to 1 for some reason), then click OK. unless there's a shortcut that i somehow missed. why can't we just drag and drop or ctrl+click or something? speaking of ctrl+click, i made it through the entire game without knowing you can ctrl+LMB to "collect all" on a container. so that sucked.
  11. The Witcher 2

the preload pauses with about 100mb left or so for everybody right?
  12. PSN Hack

yeah i agree. none of the crap they're offering is anything i have interest in. give me a free copy of twisted metal 2 or something, i'd be stoked on that.
  13. The Witcher 2

yeah i dominated it. on easy you can blow through it, doing everything except the random fetch quests in about 30-35 hours if you don't dick around too much. it would have been nice to spend a little more time doing things but really i just wanted to see all the story and finish it up before tuesday. i'll take my time with this one.
  14. Modern Warfare 3

sure but if you make over a billion dollars per game regardless of post-launch support, what motivation do you have to try harder? especially with daddy activision cracking the whip at your back for the sequel lord knows i'll probably buy MW3 because i'm an idiot, but that doesn't mean i'll enjoy it.
  15. Modern Warfare 3

yeah, they seem to have absolutely zero interest in actually ensuring some of the most popular multiplayer games out there are balanced and bug-free. they're all about as much fun as you can possibly have in MP for the first two weeks after release, then people find all the exploits and ruin the game.
  16. The Witcher

i don't know if it gets better or not really, but you'll actually start to care somewhat in act II. act III is where it starts to get really good. it's pretty well acknowledged by everyone at this point that the first few hours are really lame
  17. The Witcher 2

I've had the first one for a while now but i've only played about 2 hours of it. this one has me pretty excited though, so i'm thinking about trying to blast through the first one this week. and then i read how long it is so now I'm thinking of starting it on the easiest difficulty and trying to blow through it since I'd really mostly be interested in the story. maybe i'll finish it in time?
  18. Shores of Hazeron OR Your New Timesink

maybe if i run it through dosbox...
  19. Shores of Hazeron OR Your New Timesink

so the not being able to move thing is normal? because my experience in loading up your old city was to accidentally kill my obi-wan guy and then wander around at about 1fps while text popped up i couldn't read. despite being a bird, i couldn't figure out how to fly. i think if the game animated slightly more than a Viewmaster it would be more playable. it was seriously one of the most head-scratching 15 minutes of gaming i've done in many years although i do like the idea of flying a spaceship. especially if i could be the resident Barclay LOHxTsL-hsc
  20. Universe Sandbox

i really wanted to see what would happen if i gave earth 2-3 more moons as it was going around the sun, but it looks like on the solar system map you can only make sun-orbiting bodies? by the way, by far my favorite thing to do with this is slingshot planets around the sun and off into nothingness. peace, mercury...
  21. Portal 2

    Sunday is Mother's Day.
  22. The great Valve re-play

yeah i had to quit playing HL:S because the stupid ladders/jumping/collision detection was killing me or getting me stuck way too often. switched back to the original and everything was fine again.
  23. Universe Sandbox

okay, i lied. I woke up with the desire to ruin entire solar systems and bought the thing.
