  1. Novint Falcon

Novint's HL2 mod is kind of buggy, too. Like I said earlier, sometimes doing things in one arbitrary order instead of another will cause some sort of error that will freeze the game until you Alt-Tab to the error window to deal with it. There have also been a couple times when a switch or trigger just doesn't work, and I have to activate noclip in order to continue. The natively-supported games don't seem to have any problems, which makes sense, since Valve worked on them, and Penumbra's fine so far. EDIT: So, turns out that the bugginess just ruins the game at the end. The weapon confiscation field in the Citadel doesn't trigger, so you don't get the super-powered gravity gun. This means that it is impossible to complete the game without noclipping and just flying through all the barriers.
  2. Looking at the page, I was shocked to discover a major oversight that I wasted no time correcting. Jake Rodkin is now cross-referenced to the concept of "wizards" on Giant Bomb.
  3. Also, a video of a guy beating his friend off constantly.
  4. Mass Effect 2

It's not that people killed him before finishing his intro mission. He will join your party no matter what. It's later in the game that this happens. In one of the last few areas, you get into a conversation with him about the oppression the Krogans have experienced, and if your Charm/Intimidate isn't high enough, he pulls a weapon and gets gunned down.
  5. Scribblenauts review up!

    BA-DUM TSSH!
  6. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

I've only played for about an hour so far, but I'm very impressed. Slick menus, great graphics, and fun, beat-em-up gameplay. I can't attest to the sound design or voice acting (my TV's broken so I plugged it into my monitor and turned subtitles on), but if it's up to par with the rest of the game, I'll be very happy. It's also a completionist's dream. Audio logs, character dossiers, other random collectibles, hero-specific challenges (3 per hero), and combat challenges along with returning simulator scenarios and trivia. Oh, and the second mini-boss fight is against THE WIZARD:
  7. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

One might. So far it doesn't require any special knowledge of the Marvel universe to understand what's going on. I'm not too big on Marvel's comics myself, but it's a fun action-RPG with Super Heroes™ (yes, Marvel has trademarked the term).
  8. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

I have, but I would suggest that a better place to ask would be in a new thread in this sub-forum.
  9. Gravity, and the disregarding thereof.

I got it after a mention in one of the podcasts. I'm at a point now where every new area costs 12000 teeth to unlock, so I'm going to have to practice on some of my lower-scoring levels in order to increase my rating. It's one of those games where constantly restarting doesn't get frustrating and repetitive.
  10. Non-video games

Cheapass Games. Some fun and creative board games for very little money. Kill Doctor Lucky and Freeloader are great. Also their zombie games: Lord of the Fries, Who's Got the Brain, and The Great Brain Robbery.
  11. PSP

I've had a Wii and a 360 for a while now, and got a PS3 earlier this year. It's been worthwhile for me so far. Uncharted and inFamous are both great games, and while the single-player in Killzone 2 isn't that good, I found multiplayer quite fun. LittleBigPlanet is short, but if you like to make levels, I guess there's that. There's also Uncharted 2, the God of War 1 & 2 re-release, and a new Ratchet & Clank to look forward to. And if you're into hardcore Japanese RPG's, Cross Edge and Disgaia 3 exist. PSN also has some great games. Fat Princess, Shatter, Trash Panic, The Last Guy, Echochrome, Flower, and the PixelJunk games are all good. If you're feeling nostalgic, the PS1 Classics feature such titles as Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. My only regret is that the Slim didn't come earlier. That price cut definitely sweetens the deal.
  12. Other podcasts

He's a former-1UP-editor-turned-Bungie-employee. Speaking of, the Bungie Studios podcast doesn't release new episodes frequently or regularly, but it's a good listen when it happens. Aside from that, I'll echo Rebel FM, Geekbox, and the RPS Electronic Wireless Show, as well as The GameSpy Debriefings and the Mega64 podcast.
  13. Recently completed video games

Hrm... I know I'm gonna feel like I'm just showing off, but, games I've finished this year: Uncharted LBP inFamous Fat Princess (single-player story) Flower Shatter Mirror's Edge Resistance 1 & 2 Fallout 3 + all DLC 'Splosion Man Batman: Arkham Asylum Bioshock Shadow Complex 50 Cent: BotS Red Faction: Guerilla Rocket Riot Prototype Ghostbusters Monkey Island: SE Saint's Row 2 Wanted Wolf 3D Bionic Commando Eat Lead X-Men Origins: Wolverine Riddick: Butcher Bay & Dark Athena Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad Halo Wars Watchmen ep 1 Portal: Still Alive Puzzle Quest The Maw SBCG4AP season 1 And a few DS games that I can't remember because I've got a horrible memory. Very console-centric due to not having a good gaming PC until recently. Now my TV's on the blink, so my "Currently playing" list is PC-heavy.
  14. Down in the Zone (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.)

    Found it. Buying now.
  15. Novint Falcon

Sounds like dirty Commie-speak to me. There's no room for your extra "u's" in this neighborhood, Comrade.
  16. PSP

If you're nostalgic for some older games, it might be good. As mentioned before, there are all the PS1 Classics on PSN, as well as re-releases of FF Tactics, Disgaia 1&2, & Persona. FF7 Crisis Core is also fun, but nothing like the original FF7 (which is why I could actually stand to finish it). Like miffy said, the current catalog isn't that impressive; I haven't really touched my PSP in months.
  17. Down in the Zone (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.)

Now I've got "Down in the Park" by the Foo Fighters stuck in my head, and lyrics are strangely fitting... Down in the park were the marked men meet the machine and play "Kill by Numbers" Down in the park with a friend called fire... I was in a car crash, it wasn't the war, but I've never been quite the same Little white lies like I was there...
  18. Down in the Zone (S.T.A.L.K.E.R.)

What a coincidence! I bought the game a while ago, but for some reason I never played it for more than a couple hours. Yesterday I decided to try it once more, and spent most of the day playing it. I love the atmosphere and the environment the game is set in. Every area seems to have its own story, even if it isn't explicitly told. It's a bit punishing at first (the reason I never played it for very long in the past), but once you do a few missions and start to get some better weapons, things start going along much more smoothly. I love how, during some of the story missions, the game changes from a hardcore, semi-realistic shooter to a sort of survival horror game. I'm now looking forward to unraveling the mystery of the Zone, and already have a copy of Clear Sky. EDIT: Holy shit. I just looked at the details for the Complete 2009 mod. That's fucking awesome.
  19. Novint Falcon

Here's a rather in-depth look at it working with Crysis. There are a decent number of other random videos on YouTube, as well.
  20. What does Nick Breckon look like?

    Yes... brown "candy..."
  21. Novint Falcon

Can you vouch for the game's quality? If it's good, I might buy it and see. Unfortunately, it looks like you'll have to buy the haptic feedback version from Novint's site. If you've got it from Steam or some other service, you're out of luck. Also, when looking at some of the other games on the list, I saw "Klectic," a Falcon-enabled version of "The Wonderful End of the World." I might try that one out, too.
  22. Gaming HDTV recommendations

Ugh. 3-D in movies and games is a horrible idea. There's a reason it died in the 50's, and there's still no good justification to try and bring it back.
