  1. Demon's Souls

To be fair, a Quick Look is more or less just them popping in a game they just got and hitting record on their capture gear. I think it's great because you get their initial gut reactions of the gameplay. When they decide to cover a game beyond the QL, it's much more comprehensive and in-depth.
  2. New people: Read this, say hi.

Now we just need someone to register as Tobli X and have a battle to end all battles.
  3. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

True. I enjoyed his work on Pi and Requiem. Doom was... not that great.
  4. Dragon Age's ease-of-wooing depends on the character too. Morrigan detests emotional attachment, and is just in it for the sex, so you don't really have to improve her attitude much (around 60-70 or so, if I remember correctly, which can be done almost immediately after she joins your party, if you've been saving gifts). Leliana takes a lot more (I've got her at 88, and still nothing). Haven't tried to do anything with either of the male options, but I'm sure I'll get bored enough at some point. Hmmm... this makes me sound like some sort of Creepy Internet Guy, doesn't it? Oh, well.
  5. Dragon Age

Mostly for those who wanted something to do before game release. If you want to create a Bioware account and upload your character, it unlocks a ring for any of your games once you actually start them.
  6. Dragon Age

Oh, no, I was being a bit facetious myself. The problems I was having seemed to be more or less fixed later that evening, and... and... I ended up staying up all night just to play, okay?! ARE YOU HAPPY? ARE YOU HAPPY IT'S COME TO THIS?!
  7. Dragon Age

I started as a mage, and the origin has you going through the final test to graduate from apprentice to mage. I was talking to a friend as we were both playing way too much of the game, and he had a great ign-able quote: "It's like happiness was freebasing unicorns!"
  8. Dragon Age

I'd say it's more of a "Bioware made a game with online integration but didn't bother to make sure the online part worked on release day" thing than a specifically PC gaming thing. It seems to be working now, and I was further calmed when I realized that I got the Warden's Keep DLC for free with my pre-order.
  9. Dragon Age

Well, now I'm getting annoyed. In order to access any of the bonus content for my pre-order or even download the mod toolset, I need to register my game with the new Bioware Social Network, which is still in beta and barely functional right now.
  10. Dragon Age

I just started playing it on PC, and I think Bioware's been listening to the podcast. There's a feature you can enable where important story points and events trigger a screenshot that can be viewed in a gallery later. On a slightly more sour note, the DLC that's available is priced with some sort of weird point system that happens to match the prices of the Xbox DLC, but there's no GFWL integration, so i guess that it means I would have to add space bucks to an entirely new account if I want to download anything. Unless they make it available on Steam (Steam's "Digital Deluxe" version included some of the DLC, so I would assume it's possible). Also, while there's an in-game achievement system, they are synced with a new "Bioware Social Network" account, and have no integration into Steam, so some people might be disappointed with that.
  11. Torchlight?

Screw a flux capacitor, I'm installing Torchlight in my DeLorean.
  12. Manhunt 2

There probably won't be much said about it. There have already been a few games that released a somewhat controversial censored version that have later released uncut digital versions to no real reaction that I remember (Indigo Prophecy, The Witcher). I enjoyed the first Manhunt, but it's been long enough since the initial release that my interest has almost completely waned.
  13. I guess it would have helped to see the whole thing. Agreed. There are all sorts of things wrong with the way that thing makes you sit.
  14. Looks like it's something you put next to your normal chair to rest your arm on while gaming. Like an arm rest. Except higher, for mouse usage.
  15. Torchlight?

The Beam Golem doesn't replace the normal Golem. You can have both golems following you at the same time.
  16. Torchlight?

So, I just delved to the deepest dungeon and killed the evil that was corrupting all the ember. Also, I was poking around the Runic forums, and it turns out the Sword of Adam is a tribute to one of the game's artists and the in-jokes/catch phrases he commonly used. Although the "Wizaaaards" thing might still be a reference to Thumbs.
  17. Has anybody else watched the behind-the-scenes videos for either of the Uncharted games? A lot of what they do seems to be a direct reaction to the problems you were talking about. The voice actors are also the mocap actors, voice is recorded at the same time as the mocap, and everyone records at the same time. It helps ensure that the dialog matches the character movement, and that the characters have suitably "real" reactions and chemistry. They also have the actors sit down to watch gameplay during key action parts to ad-lib incidental character comments. A lot of the "I was just thinking that!" dialog comes from the actor thinking the same thing during that part and improv-ing the line.
  18. Even though I loved Uncharted 2, that "narrative bullet" was my biggest problem.
  19. Torchlight?

Dude. That is awesome. I wonder how that came about.
  20. Torchlight?

I'm around 10 hours in, and from the spacing of the previous boss fights, it looks like maybe another hour or so. I have been doing a lot of the "side quest" dungeons, though, so 10 hours seems about right.
  21. Creepy statues in games

There was a statue in Eternal Darkness whose head would follow you as you walked by if your sanity level was low. It was kinda creepy the first time I saw it.
  22. Left 4 Thumbs

I love how the release of the demo has become a microcosm of Valve's full retail releases. And by "love," I mean "hate."
  23. Torchlight?

I'm playing an Alchemist with a bad-ass hammer. My cat can cast frost bolts and group healing spells. Also:
  24. Left 4 Thumbs

Balls. Release time has been pushed back again. Now I'm starting to get annoyed.
  25. Left 4 Thumbs

    So there.
