Maybe not so much a strategy as an exploitation of an AI routine:

You start getting emails later in the game from people expressing concern about an office thief. I started following it up (breaking into offices of suspected people), and then I realized it was probably me... I just got Pacifist on my second playthrough (ruined it the first time in the intro sequence), including It may take a few tries, but quick use of gas grenades and sprinting around with a stun gun (and a few takedowns sprinkled in) can get you through non-lethally. Just be sure that sleeping enemies are clear of

Looks like they snagged the screenshot I uploaded to Giant Bomb and lightened it a bit: http://www.giantbomb.com/dopefish/94-296/all-images/52-293952/2011_08_24_00001/51-1868698/

I've also found an email from a "zer0cool," a reference to a hacker named "Mitnick," and what could either be a really low-key reference to the Paranoia RPG or just a coincidence.

I had saved up a bunch of EMP grenades, and just alternated between spamming him with those and shooting him with my pistol (the only lethal weapon I had at the time). There also might have been a frag grenade or two in there, but EMP keeps him out of commission for a decent amount of time, so I didn't have too much of a problem with him. The second boss fight however, is fucking infuriating. I'll just say that you should probably put the upgrade points into your defense augs until you get the one that protects you from electricity damage or you'll spend way too much time on it.

I am a little disappointed that the metagame elements (XP, achievements) seem to be so focused on stealth and non-lethality. XP bonuses for not being seen during a mission or being "merciful" (stunning instead of killing), achievements for similar things with no corresponding ones for, say, killing everyone in a single mission. It's fine for now, but I do want to play again as some sort of psychopathic murder machine, and it seems like I may incur a penalty for it in the lack of XP/upgrade points. Then again, I can still be a stealthy psychopath. The only thing that bothers me every time I see it is the "future renaissance" design of some of the characters' clothing. EVERYTHING IS MADE OF TRIANGLES. It's like someone realized that augments can be dangerous and unwieldy, and starting making clothing with roll cages inside. All that being said, I'm having way too much fun and losing way too much sleep because of this game. It's fucking awesome.

It was a coded message, and took her a while to figure out? I think I've seen comments claiming it says something about a mirror, but I don't think the hidden compartment is where the mirror was. It only shows two colors, and she only ever uses them in pairs, so I guess you could infer that. I don't think it would be something you could express in a succinct manner in a short film without any dialog.

If you do it right, the enemy will groan briefly and drop forward onto his knees (without any of the electrocution jitter, in the prod's case). I know it can be done with the stun prod and the baton. Not sure about other weapons.

4drucg1A6Xk Not necessarily funny, but definitely awesome.

The stun prod and most (if not all) melee weapons will one-hit kill if you attack a dude from behind. A headshot will kill in the first few missions, but somehow enemies start being able to take to rounds to the head before dropping. As long as you're quick, it's not too much of a problem.

I know, I know, we're great, aren't we? I've lost almost four hours of sleep, and now I'm going to spend an extremely tired day at work.
-
I started playing again earlier last week, but I've only just gotten to Hong Kong. I'm debating whether or not to spend the five or six hours until my game unlocks seeing if I can get through it. The only thing that I really don't like about it looks like it is returning in HR: boss fights. Only one so far, but when your skills are focused on sneaking and hacking, open combat sucks augmented balls. The only reason I got past that fight was because I happened to have held on to a rocket launcher, and it's hard to shoot back when most of your pieces are scattered across the entrance to UNATCO HQ.
-
I'd say that's definitely the case. The narrator seems to be intentionally written with the attitude that the designer knows best and the player should shut up and do what he's told. He gets downright abusive if you just keep defying him.

Love the "BONK!" melody.

I can't stop smiling at this. Thank you.

Activision's Strategy to Make Every One of its Franchises More Fantastical
Korax replied to pabosher's topic in Video Gaming
Hear, hear! What disappoints me most about this is that Activision was the company that said, "Fuck you, Atari! Games are made by people who deserve recognition, not assembly line workers!" And now most people who buy a CoD game don't know that there are three entirely different studios working on the series (not counting whatever internal outsourcing is going on for maps and such). -
The little instructional blurb recommends a fairly heavy cardstock, but I used a heavier laser paper that holds up pretty well. Actually having them assembled might not go too far to make them less creepy, though. A lot of it is the art style.
-
So I'm really enjoying the game (just started Chapter 2), although I do agree with most of the comments regarding difficulty of the combat (especially at the beginning). But here's the real issue: nobody's talking about the papercrafts included in the bonus content. Has anyone made any of them yet? As soon as I get to work tomorrow, I'll have a papery Geralt staring me down from behind my monitor.
-
This exactly. Sign up for an account on their website, and the registration dialog in the launcher should automatically enter it when you go to register. As for the high system use, sure, high and ultra settings might make your machine chug, but have you actually given the lower settings a shot? Medium and even low settings still look amazing.
-
Not to diminish the actual content of the thing, but I find it quite annoying that the screenshots and description have just been copied from the iPad app. The only thing that will happen if I start swiping my fingers over my screen is me needing to clean off a smudgy monitor.
-
I'm still up for it if there's still enough space left. I'm familiar with D&D, but I haven't actually played any 4E yet. My main question is how will the actual game playing occur? I see mentions of play-by-post, but I don't see any definite plans. Or it's possible I missed that part entirely. And if we need a Defender, I could totally play a fighter or something.

Who the hell needs Faux New York or Generic African Place to play around in when you have THE ENTIRE FUCKING UNIVERSE? Fuck grenades rolling down hills - you can roll a fucking star through the fucking solar system if you want. v6shurn2W0w More seriously, this is pretty cool. I think it's been out for a while, but it just came up on Steam, and it's only $9 right now. Oh, and fuck The Moon, I've got 250:
