  1. I feel compelled to post these.. I found them on Nick's leaving post on Shack. 2. Left 4 Thumbs

OH man I loved the music... I loved and missed L4D1 music, but this one just fits and has its own brand of nice. I agree that the AI director seems a smidge weak.. I'm not sure I've had the best opportunities to judge though. The group I played with had just come out of an expert No Mercy that we just barely scraped out of. We were pretty rusty... Then we proceeded to play the L4D2 demo on normal (I think our lobby leader didn't know you could swap difficulties?) In which it was basically us just trotting along. I later played a bit of expert with the bots and it was a bit harder, but no one died and I had most of my health by that first safehouse. It didnt have that feeling of flying by the seat of my pants that earlier No Mercy did. (I got a pretty satisfying save on that game though, the 3 other guys just spawned in a closet- there were many near wipes... Smoker grabs me and I shot him six ways to the face. I felt so proud and terrified. That game can be pretty frightening some times... So good. ) Jockey was a bit less intrusive than I thought he would be, although I think I was mostly excited for him on Versus. Also melee weapons were kind of what I expected, but I wasnt really very excited for them to begin with. Hitting someone with a frying pan or guitar is quite satisfying in its own way though. :3
  3. Left 4 Thumbs

Err alright, so this makes two Sundays that go by and I get the event notice, head to the idle thumbs page, stare for a second then skitter off... I'm an incredibly awkward human being who would like to play with you all but didn't know how to approach it (seeing as I'm quite new to the community and havent interacted yet with most of you). I tried to send a message to a couple people whos names I recognized but it didnt want to let me. Then I felt too awkward about randomly friending. So, I suppose I'll ask here... Who doesnt mind being my friend on Steam that plays on Sundays (so I may join in on the zombie killing)? I guess this is my way of asking if I can sit at your table for lunch
  4. Haha I'd just loaded up that cast so I could listen to Space Asshole again.. Glad its on YouTube now. I feel like I'm flipping through photo albums of exes.... going through pounds of chocolate. Dont leave Nick! Dont stop making podcasts Jake and Chris! I need to move on, I have to let you be happy /sob. But in all seriousness Nick thats pretty sweet, you're going to be a really good community manager I think. So kudos, and welcome to the Eastern Standard Timezone
  5. Left 4 Thumbs

Hmm, these go on around Sundays 2pm east coast usa? Am I doing time zones right? Might have to set a reminder to myself to be around.. I love l4d to pieces but hate playing with anything but pre-organized groups. Between angry pubbers and the lobby/random game system occasionally screwing up inexplicably / giving a horrible server... urgh
  6. ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭‮Mirror's Edge

I just got this on steam a little over a week ago. A little late to the party but hey, I'm broke? That DLC looks pretty, I hope they make it easier to get for me and other people who did the 'oh hey, this is 20 bucks now' impulse Steam buy. On another note, after announcing to my Facebook of said purchase I got this message. "The end to Mirror's Edge is nice, you actually have to engage in combat for a change." I still don't know if he was kidding, I didn't respond.
  7. PSP

You're all lucky you dont like the color purple. Or at least dont want to have a 'pretty' looking handheld. The Hannah Montana package makes me sad (waiting till the post christmas ebays from little girl's parents). To me that whole ad campaign just made it blatantly obvious that america's PSP marketers have no clue what to do with the system. Versus DS's marketing which has Beyonce playing video games- kids think she's cool right?? I've been pondering a PSP for a while now ever since I replayed the original Spyro games. To me with the DS and the PSP, I have about the same interest in new titles... DS probably has more, but I'll borrow someone elses for Scribblenauts. Playing a bunch of PS1 games on a screen that wont make them look gross is appealing to me As far as all those new titles? I'll probably only pick up Chains of Olympus, maaaybe MGS... not really on board the eastern rpg/fighting game train.
  8. Ahaha oh man, Muzzy reference. We watched that in my French class... good times. I think the whole 'video game writers draw more reference from films than books' thing is probably fair (not 100% true obviously, but it most likely happens). I think a lot of current movie writers do that too. Romantic comedies basically being spawned from themselves. It's another giant '_ meets _' cycle! When Harry Met Sally meets Bride Wars meets... :s Edit: Forgot to mention that although I admited somewhere else around these boards my love of cheeziness (I will now have to try Red Faction), I for one will not be following The Ripper. Whole new levels.
  9. Hahaha, I was kind of waiting for that. I debated for a second on whether to have her as my avatar since I know she and the show is probably found annoying (I do have hope it will get better). I like Claudia, but of course I'm one of those strange people who can listen to Gilmore Girls or anything by Diablo Cody for long periods to time. I somehow gravitate to things with bad writing and/or cheese, I'll admit it. Avid fan of the Transporter movies and Tarantino-style things. I'm probably the only person in the world excited for WET. I actually enjoyed the story of Gears of War, although I laughed at Dom's wife, which is probably not what was intended (and perhaps fucked up a bit ). Basically I enjoy shouting Fuck Yeeaaaaaah with characters, or relish in the terribleness of some things. I was definitely one of those people really into MGS but am comfortable saying he can be a pretty bad writer, in a great way. I actually felt kind of dumb with all the references I mentioned, I looked back and realised there's a lot of japanophile in it. I promise I have decent taste, I just really enjoy shitty things a lot of the time
  10. I have to say, I actually dug Subject Zero. But I was laughing hysterically at how you guys worked her into the podcast. She totally is that character I like, but also like to make fun of (most of the Gears of War characters). I also like the concept of Subject One you guys had; looking a bit like Miss Muffet and being super accommodating. "Oh dear Shepard I cant do those naughty things, you havent properly courted me for 5 years *blink blink*" With the beautiful women discussion I'd like to name drop a bit. Female characters that were real women to me (regardless of state of undress- wearing a mini skirt doesnt make you less of a woman): Heather (SH3), Faith (Mirror's Edge), Joanna Dark (orig PD), Jill (RE), Chell (Portal) Not going to go too crazy naming them. As a chick (yup.) those were a handful of gals that made me feel more invested in the story and sounded like they were from the right perspective. There's a couple instances where playing the main character chick as a chick doesnt feel right, you still feel like you're playing a dude. Those characters arent necessarily less feminine either. It's a weird finesse. Heather honestly is the stand out for me personally. I played the game when I was her age almost exactly, still a high schooler, and wore jean skirts as well. I feel like it had the same effect as a young married man playing Silent Hill 2. There's certainly chicks who have the sexy look but I thought were good realistic characters. Sniper Wolf, Tifa, Sheva Alomar. Sometimes I stretch that list to Lara Croft simply because when I was super young a friend and I would go through adventuring with her, it felt like we were being a super cool acrobatic older chick. Back then she looked just as done up as a high schooler to us
  11. New people: Read this, say hi.

Okay, I'm now completely caught up on my Idle Thumbs. Therefore I feel comfortable introducing myself properly on the super duper Idle Forumsss. To be honest, I havent really trolled around here much, so I'll probably do more of that after this. Just wanted to push myself out the door into the world of posting here. So anyway, Howdy, and hopefully I will have useful things to add to the giant pile of talking about video gams. Also, I'm totally calling the voicemail at some point with my reader mail, if only so I can dial WIZARD with my phone.
