  1. I like this thread because it is full of true things that happen often. My favorite is when someone tries to ride in on his internet steed to rescue me from someone I'm friends with.. its awkwardfuntimes.
  2. PAX East Meet

This was lots of fun A good way to sort of wrap up my PAX. I was the brunette gal with the white shirt that had a chicken pot pie.
  3. My dignity has never been in such a struggle with my wallet. You mean I could just spend my free time exactly like I have been and get wads of cash? And yet, the cost is a bit too high... I'd be encouraging all the brats who have ever harassed me over voice chat. I'd also have to interact with them for hours to get paid... Yeah, no.
  4. PAX East Meet

I, sadly, will not be 21 until this coming May... blah. I ate at a place on newbury today named Joes american grill or something like that, asked the lady how large a group they could handle, she said about 15 max :s Food was pretty good though, price range was about 10-15$ish I think.
  5. PAX East

Oh yeah, I suppose I forgot to mention I'm Friday Only. I was lazy and didnt register until they'd sold out of All Weekends I'll be in town for the whole weekend anyway.. so if we have a meetup outside that isnt Friday, I'm still able to attend. I tried to think of any restaurants or anything in walking distance that would be large enough for a potentially large group. But... I didnt really go out to eat enough in the area to think of one.
  6. PAX East

I will be going to this. An EastThumbs meetup would be neat. I'm not really the most Boston-saavy, but I did live there for the better part of a year, so if any Thumbs are confused about the T I can give some assistance. Also, Chris, if you're stepping off the plane and still dont have a place to go I can ask my former roomates if they'll give up one of their rooms for you, if thats not too weird or anything. They've already gotta deal with me taking their couch, so I'm not sure what they'd say.
  7. Left 4 Thumbs

Cadbury's names for chocolate things confuses my american self I just read Bridget Jones' Diary and she talks about eating 12 Milk Trays, so of course I'm imagining the literal cows milk versions.. Like an ice cube tray filled with ice cube milk. Or in Suspect's case a carton of sweetened milk. Thanks to google images I now know better... Also I think its weird that Cadbury is such a huge chocolates producer and yet we only have their caramel filled eggs over here.
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

From what I've heard Precious is actually a confidence booster? Sort of? It's about someone who's been crapped on by life but is an amazing person. A select few people notice this and try to get her to be... victorious? I cant think of the right word. So, dark and 'mature' in a lot of ways, but also courageous and uplifting? I haven't seen it so I guess I cant say, thats just what I picked up from a couple reviews. The critics are kind of beside themselves about it.
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

Ugh, the Dollhouse news made me really depressed... I just started watching that a couple months ago. It was addictive. Sure its not the best quality (Whedon's stuff is mostly about ideas and characters, do yourself a favor and never put on subtitles D: ) but it was definitely something I enjoyed watching. I think Joss takes a bit of comfort from higher budget though, despite Horrible, the set for Dollhouse is kind of expensive looking. I imagine taking that to internet-series would be last in his mind. But Fox again? I just hope Tahmoh Penikett does something again soon. He kind of acts the same way in everything, but thats ok, he's like a male Milla Jovovich to me.
  10. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

I'm not sure if someones posted this yet (its a long thread, sorry ><!) Top 50 worst Video game voice acting Its fun how far we've gotten since this, to stuff like Uncharted. Starts with one of the best
  11. That broke my heart more than you know.. The first week off the Thumbs.
  12. Torchlight?

Must.. resist urge.. to do a full on texture mod... Not enough time.. in day. It's like a blank paper, its just sitting there, asking me to throw art at it. Of course this happened to me with Fallout 3 as well, I still have a bunch of half finished assets from a questline that spawned up in my head months ago. Urgh... Torchlight seems a bit more accessible than Fallout3 though, as far as doing little story and art mods. Hmm.
  13. EA drops new IP

I feel like is appropriate for this thread. http://www.idleballad.com/
  14. They're 3rd party stuff I've had since xp. http://rocketdock.com/ for the icon thing at the top (which I use less with 7 than I did in xp) and the other is Rainmeter, you kind of have to shuffle around quite a bit to find skins you like (weee 3rd party...), but I find it sorta useful and pretty.. http://rainmeter.net/RainCMS/ Boatloads of skins for it: http://customize.org/rainmeter The ones I use are 10 Foot HUD (for the time/date) and part of this one: http://customize.org/rainmeter/skins/47014 I hope thats helpful
  15. It's actually much cleaner than it was... I have a really odd chaotic specific-to-my-brain way of organizing things? Which basically means icons everywhere. I cant ever seem to just use the one spot (taskbar) that you should put things, so all of my folders for stuff are up in the Rocketdock (the mac icon bar thing) and frequently launched games and applications on the shiney Win7 taskbar. 7 is basically Vista, but with a couple things shuffled into a more sensical order, slightly more tuned aesthetics... From what I could tell, 90% of people hated Vista because everyone else did, and now that same 90% loves Win7 because most of the 10% decided their legitimate issues were dealt with adequately enough and spread the news.. /grumpy conspiracy theorist.. Well.. other than its just... nice. :3 It's very easy to get used to and work with, honestly.
  16. Ugh, neither... I didnt end up finishing that costume in time. It probably would have been the wire cutter though, cus the craft store's knives were too short to cut through the piece of foam I had... (I was making a Proton Pack out of Polystyrene foam...) I did make a Prawn claw in time for my mother's costume though. Woo. (http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Rawru/claw.jpg) Dont forget Final Fantasy X-2
  17. Left 4 Thumbs

Yeah, it was me n0wak, wrestlevania and a guy called shilling (I'm not sure if he's on the forums, if you are hello! and sorry ) We swapped it back to Advanced after the tank punched our lights out a few times, but it was good.
  18. Left 4 Thumbs

Finally got around to playing with Thumbs! Hopefully I'll be around next week too, get some good ole L4D in before L4D2 drops upon us. Was fun, thanks again guys.
  19. I'm of the opinion they should just make a whole new series like Resident Evil 5 but not give it the Resident Evil branding. Then just go all out with the action element... (label it Action Horror?) That game was pretty fun if you've got company over. Actually, Action Horror should be a thing if it isnt.. or Survival Action (L4D?). Whoa sorry for the derailing... But yeah, I had a mental breakthrough this morning with QWOP, my fingers finally started to understand which part they moved... Then I only got 2.5 meters.. But the legs were moving in a human-like fashion! Edit: Also, I love my desktop http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/Rawru/deskthumbs.png Thanks again Jake for putting Wizards in Africa.
  20. Yup the Thumbs spoiler is But hey, they'll exist, and possibly have song? Maybe? Although I'm going to miss Nick ... Who's going to add that extra layer of sillyness? He was the inner layer of frosting on the Idle Thumbs Cake. Jeff Gold Game Gold Gone...Bloom. Also, I played QWOP for like 20 minutes... I got the song to start a little a couple times, made it running 4.4 meters. Theeeen I didnt feel like I was improving and quit. Edit: I just remembered to say that on Steam I've had a couple things appear in my games list that I didnt have, mostly things that were free weekends? But I'm pretty sure a couple were demos.. The last one was the Champions Online weekend thing? So I'm thinking its not just L4D2 demo, which I agree would have been weird. The Shizard.
  21. That banner is one of my favorite things of all time.
  22. Just in case you all arent on my stalker levels of following the guys on twitter... Nick posted this on his a couple hours ago: "@Ratsofatsorat: False finality alarm. We're closing out the first segment with a bonus, no folds barred recording session tomorrow night." Idle Thumbs Episode 50.5?
  23. Torchlight?

Does this game hurt anyone elses eyes? I dont mean artisticly, there's just something about the camera blur when you're running around that started to make me blink and have a headache Other than that, I'm having fun with the demo, but I'm one of those people who never played Diablo (and played up to act 3 or less in D2 I think? I dont remember..) So I cant help but wonder if I should put the money toward a copy of good ole Diablo instead? Can anyone advise me on this? Am I going to make the same mistake I did with playing Oblivion before Morrowind? I could never fully enjoy Morrowind, I'm pretty certain I would have loved it if I'd played them in reverse (I thought Morrowind had a much cooler world, but I just couldn't motivate myself to play it).
  24. It is exactly that actually. A city builder by the same people as Caesar and Pharaoh but with the ancient greek theme / mythology I was really into as a kid But yeah, I cant tell if you guys were kidding? Nostalgia goggles cloud my vision quite a bit with that one. I think for 2000/2001 (?) it holds up pretty dang well visually.. It's pretty low res, but other than that, I love it Also, that picture is from the expansion Poseidon, I had just grabbed it off of the first page on google images and didnt notice until now.. whoops. They pretty much look the same except different building types/ roof colors...
  25. Favorite: Hmm well.. maybe I'm still in a 'recently played it' haze but...Trine. Honestly. I do have the Thumbs to thank for finding it. It mostly gets the favorite sticker because of the art... I was in love with that game visually so much... My favorite childhood games were the Spryo's, that might have something to do with it. Also, I really loved the story, it had a fairytale simplicity that just was what I wanted out of it. I normally play multiplayer stuff, but I prefered playing this one solo. I dont know... It made me happy. Happier than any game I've played in the last couple years. Best: System Shock 2. Being kind of a late gamer (started playing games more when I was in high school- didnt have an older brother influence handing me a controller when I was little) the graphics are hard for me to get past... but it is still a great game.. A really true and proper graphical remake would make it complete for me personally... Unfortunately I dont think such a thing would get executed properly Still a really excellent game. Desert Island: Zeus, Master of Olympus. I could easily put as all three categories, but I decided to change it up. Nuff said.
