  1. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Me too Tegan:/ What I think happened was (and I may have imagined or misremembered) but a version of Windows shipped with nifty voice command software. For a while there were sound files going around that If played out loud by your pc could command the pc to delete very important Windows files. Probably apocryphal, but I still love it. Edit: oooh, get the GBA Fire Emblem!
  2. Nextbox 1080: The Reckoning

Wasn't it a thing that you could cause damage you use windows install my playing certain command from a sound file long ago? There is some pretty nifty noise cancellation, filtering and beamforminntechniques about the place. I don't think it would actually be that difficult to filter out a known signal.
  3. Every addition to the series trengthens it more. Also, more opportunity for furry amputee fan fic.
  4. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Everyone my age learned in school how to do joined writing. All the girls learned in their school and the boys in ours. This meant that the boys in my town had different writing than the girls and anything written could immediately be gendered. Your writing is boys writing Steve.
  5. That word is amazingly ambiguous.

  7. Favorite Game Of All Time

Everything I don't like about Skyrim is because i just wanted Morrowind in the snow. They did not deliver. I've never even finished the bloody game, but I do love loading it up and wandering around every so often. Autocorrect question: why is Mirrowind a word?

  10. I Had A Random Thought...

No no. With a closer they will have to go back through my life to try and find where the bracket begins. I'm not trying to imply that I'm going to haunt them! (My will shall do that job).
  11. I Had A Random Thought...

I've decided that my headstone will end with a ) Just to worry everyone. I hate a hanging parenthesis. Now I just have to figure out some way of remembering this for the next 50 or so years I plan on hanging around.

    That's great to hear Merus.
  13. Permadeath

Indeed. Does any game where a reset occurs count as a waste of time? Sports games, Multiplayer matches, LOMAs?
  14. Permadeath

For me the ability to reload a difficult scenario can ruin a game. I stopped Skyrim (which i hadn't been enjoying as much as most) after cheesing a fight with quick loads. The design of the game has everything to do with wether permadeath or reloads fit the game. Roguelikes are built from the ground up in the near surety that you will die, and that you will learn something when you do. Have you played an roguelikes thestalkinghead? Maybe something like zagaa on iOS or brogue on pc or iOS if you are worried about they being too hardcore?

Play Passage. Very little mechanics, everything to live for.
  16. Plug your shit

That looks really great! Extra marks for showing so much gameplay in the trailer.

Keep some ideas for Witchestein 3D.
  18. Weird Medical Shit

Why does the doctor note your living situation? I was at the doc after my consultant appointment and the consultant had noted on a separate bullet that I lived with three people. I was amused, as if I could afford it I would preferably be living alone (though my house is amazing and my housemates are cool).
  19. Kerbal Space Program

33% off on steam at the moment. Woo.
  20. Permadeath

    I'm leaving that typo.
  21. Permadeath

The goal in most roguelikes is to get the orb/sceptre/maguffin and get the hell out of the dungeon and onto the scoreboards. Alternatively, if they float your boat, (and/or if goal one is unobtainalbe dur to jncompetence) the goal is to have fun dying. When you at the game of rogues, you either win or you die.
  22. Permadeath

I just had the best game of Brogue after reading this thread. It had everything: fireballs, giant spiders, (ultimately fatal) roving bands of ogres. Ever ounce of knowledge that I have learned from my previous games of Brogue went I to keeping me alive during that game. Every time I've died to a spider bite, or flailed helplessly as the flames I just set travel down the web to me meant that this time I didn't blink when confronted with the spiders. It was the ogres that got me this time, because I've never met their war packs before. Next time I will know that I need to take down the shaman first or get the hell out before they wake up. The last five minutes of my game were spent with me a quivering mess as I tried in vain to get out of the horrible messes I was in. And when it was all over and my corpse on the floor all I could thing was that I wanted to go straight back in and beating their asses this time. I don't know if i'll ever beat Brogue, or Stone Soup, of FTL, but I do know that I have an absolute ball playing them and they offer experiences that a game with a quick load never could. Also, this game I had two flying monkeys for A long while until I accidentally stripped them of their magic powers:/ one soon died and the other was lost as I plunged two floors through the dungeon in quick succession.

Could you do fancy website design with that training? Also, I don't know why I'm thinking this, but old school gig advertisements and music festival adverts always look amazing to me.
