The Julian Murdoch **HONORARY** iOS Board Game/Strategy Thread
dibs replied to OzymandiasAV's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
The only strategy i've been able to eek out is to get as many "draw cards" heros and constructs as i can and cycle my deck to get the best cards out of it quicker. After that its a gamble if your early stategy is going to work or not. Still fun for a quick game though. I wish they would put in the 3rd difficulty setting:/ -

I'm really enjoying this game too. My biggest gripe is the random (isn't it always) selection of cards in the middle. I hate loosing a game because suddenly monsters stop appearing. I usually go for heavy draw more card builds if I can. If anyone is up for a game I'm dibkins on game centre. Edit: also, every so often the ai will just slow to a crawl. -
Not really. I've done my fair share of DIY. My dad is an electrician and avid DIYer and I've been his helper for work and assistant for innumeral projectes at mine, my parents and my siblings houses. the only thing I have any flair for is making flat pack furniture. Any other work of this type just makes me sad (as in I get quiet and withdrawn).

Pfft. My dad just gave me loads of tools when I bought a house. He knows I can't use them so he just comes and fixes my house when it needes it. I stepped on the housing ladder in the first year of my phd. My friend wanted to buy a house and needed a second income so I was roped in. I really really hate having to move house. When he moved to America I got to live on my own in my own house for over two years. It was the most. I now have a housemate for the cash money, but he is very quiet and considerate and I made sure I inform him that the three seater couch is mine on his very first day in the house. Sometimes my co-owner visits from Dublin and marvels that I have done minor DIY.

Just bumping this for some advice. My mum has been addicted to this game since i got it for her. She even has profiles set up in the cat's names if she wants to play easier ones. Unfortunatly, she is nearly completly finished all the content i can download. Is there any similar games i could get her to replace once she is done with Picross 3D. She tried a professor layton before, but didn't like it (though my sis in law has a few of them so i might try them out with mum again). If it gets bad i'm considering getting her an ipad so she can play soduku and picross on it!

The Idle Thumbs Lords Management Consortium - Dota 2, LoL, other Lords Managers unite

We should organise some games. Any way we can do a 5V5 with only thumbs and friends? -
Looks like turn based TF2 to me, but i still approve!

That's pretty much it, apart from the shared stash. Oh and I think gold was shared between characters on the beta, and that gold can be used to upgrade a blacksmith in the town to craft items for you and remained upgraded for all characters. If you are planning on playing with people on different continents there seems to be some restrictions in place regarding transferring characters between region servers.
-
I hope I don't get this wrong. Your character keeps the levels/items etc that you earn in a session. When you load up the game you choose the character you will be playing. You then join a single player or multiplayer game. Each time the world is regenrated randomly, but your waypoints (teleportation stones) will remain so you can still port to the last location you played, even thouhg the surrounding environment will have regenerated randomly and will have its monsters respawned. There are some areas that are not regenerated and will look the same each time, like town hubs and special event floors. If you are in a multiplayer game and log out, as long as someone stays in it it won't change. You could then go get a different character and rejoin the same game and port back to your mates to play. If you all logged out that exact world is gone. Also, there is a chest in the starting town that you can leave items in for your other characters. Useful if you find a nifty item, but for another class.

I discovered that as players leave a bot game, so do bots! Still didn't stop me and the other guy getting murdered though. I've been doing what you said and randoming in pubs Orvidos. It seems to be catching on. i rolled death prophit last night which was awesome fun.

I want to learn C++, anyone got a good book, book, book recomendation?
dibs posted a topic in Idle Banter
Ahoy, I'm looking to move my data analysis skills into quantitative analysis (finance), but since i'm a child of Matlab I need to teach myself some C++ and brush up on my OOP. That or java. It seems quite a few of you are programmers and the like and I was wondering if anyone had a good recomendation of a book I could use. I currently work at a uni, so hopefully the library shall provide. dibs -
The demo has the dubious honour of being the first program to blue screen my new computer. I'll check out the forums tomorrow but I'm nervous.

The Arma 2 + Operation AH thread of 'let's try this again'

It was indeed a lot of fun. Maybe next time I'll be able to identify enemies from bushes and not have to practice my sniping on cows.
