  1. Life

I saw Easter marzipan in the store today, does that count?
  2. Iron Brigade

The reason it's not coming for the PS3 is the big fat "Microsoft Games Studios" stamp. Speaking of that, I thought THQ were supposed to publish all 4 of the downloadable titles? Also speaking of that, Microsoft are supposed to be the ones "owning" the PC platform, not neglecting it. Especially Metal Gear Solid Microsoft Games Studios, aren't they supposed to be the "PC gaming", even within Microsoft?
  3. This sounds like that fanfic I wrote once. (PS: That link now goes to the archived version of the stream, just hit play and skip 16 mins in.)

  5. Movie/TV recommendations

This is all old hats by now, but the Oscar favourites finally were released here. True Grit: Very very good, albeit while subverting my expectations. I found it neither a typical Coen film, nor a typical western. Still, great writing, great acting. Hailee Steinfeld is going places. King's Speech: Also good, but didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Then again, the movie seems like such Oscar bait, that I may have had predispositions against it. Even so, great performances by the main par, despite the formulaic plot (like an underdog sports movie, but with talkin'). Black Swan: Oh my god. What a harrowing, emotional experience. I'm pretty sure this set in stone DAronofsky as my favourite director. My heart is still pounding from it, and the plot themes, visual flourishes and most of all music is still bouncing around inside my head, an hour after I left the cinema.
  6. We Dare

Man, I was so psyched to make a Dare Island mash-up, then found out someone made it minutes later. 3: At the very least, here's the great Amazon product description: I may have to do a dramatic reading on the next podcast we record.
  7. Dragon Age II

Not sure if they announced it as an MMO, but it's well known that they started working on DA way before the first Mass Effect, which would explain it's anomaly-ness. As for the character-killing, I too was disappointed that they make such a huge decision for you, but on the other hand, it makes sure that you will have a unique experience from the get-go. In the original, as soon as I finished it, I went back to explore more origin stories, and I'll probably do the same to experience the other characters take on things.
  8. Dragon Age II

I interpreted the gem as "hardened", at least when looking at the lines. Also, it seems like the EA marketing team got a hold of some of the character design. Flemeth went from this, to this, and Isabella (pirate chick) from this to this. (Isabella's design in general actually looks slightly better, more distinct, but she seems to have way more in the Department of T&A.) I can see why they went for a more Mass Effect route in the story, with the voice acting and dramatic opening and all, but I still find human characters bleghboring compared to playing as something completely different in fantasy and sci-fi games. In fact, I really don't get people that pick human in RPGs, because their description and stats are always "A medial balance of average and normal". Who wants normal?
  9. Hard disk fail

There's not much more than what I listed above; a Seagate 1TB drive and a D-Link wifi card. Anyways, doing a rough cleaning and playing with open window got me through the demo, so I think TP might be on the money? Either way I'll buy some compressed air and clean properly.
  10. Hard disk fail

It's an Antec 650W one, as old as the rest of the components (2 years).
  11. Hard disk fail

Thanks for the tips, it HAS been a while since I cleaned this thing. It's sitting right in front of a window, and it's under -10C right now, so it shouldn't be a big problem to force it cooler. <.<
  12. Hard disk fail

That was my uneducated guess too. It just shuts down, no reboot.
  13. Dragon Age II

I was actually surprised that the console and PC versions control completely different. The PC still controls mostly like the original, pausing with space, giving commands with the number keys and then un-pausing. And you right click once to start regular auto-attack. While on the consoles, you have direct control via sticks, while mashing the A button to attack, and the other buttons acting as hotkeys for abilities. They felt very different. After a lot of scepticism, I am now very encouraged by Biowares ability to do both console and PC versions of games. (There's even a configuration utility that's a separate .exe. remember those?)
  14. Hard disk fail

There are so many tech help thread already, so I'll just ask here. When trying to run the Dragon Age II demo, I get maybe 5 minutes into it, before my puter just shuts down. No errors or anything, it's like someone cut the power. This has also happened before, when trying Lead & Gold, but only after recently upgrading to Win7. Less intensive games like TF2 and Magicka are fine so far, and I'm downloading the original DA to try it. I'm running an Asus P5Q mobo with an Intel Core 2 Duo 3ghz processor. 2Gb DDR2 800mhz ram, and a Radeon HD 4850, 512Mb. Let me know if you need more details.
  15. Tabletop RPGs

PS: If a D&D group is gonna work properly, everyone can't be Wizards. ...or COULD we?
  16. Tabletop RPGs

I'd be glad to let OssK DM. =) As for setting, we usually just made up our own fantasy places, so I have no idea about that stuff. <.<
  17. Tabletop RPGs

Sure, could try to DM. Like I said, I don't have much experience, but I have a decent understanding of the 4E rules. Especially since it seems like most people are new-ish to either RPGing, D&D or 4e, then everyone can be awkwardly figuring things out together. \o/ If you could help finding tools Gwardinen, that would be excellent. I have heard of Fantasy Grounds before, and Gabe of PA linked this, but beyond that I am blank to online D&D tools.
  18. Magicka: The Wizards Thumb

    I'm down for that.
  19. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

N...nnnnnnn.... Noo...... No. (clearly there's some post-trickery with this, but doesn't stop me from freaking out about it.)
  20. (Unconfirmed)Telltale tackles.. KING'S QUEST?

Un-unconfirmed: http://twitter.com/#!/TheAlanJohnson/statuses/38698408478916608 Seriously, how many teams ARE there?
  21. What is the Mystery of Scoggins?

Clearly, someone was lying to me yesterday on Twitter: I am furious and outraged. (For a moment, I regretted not publishing speculations, but then I realized that I am not Kotaku, and "two game developers said on twitter that they met" is not news I want to write.)
  22. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

The Fry song is by Molly Lewis, who frequently does things with Jonathan Coulton and Paul & Storm. avxpn_MsPYs QRpKDBLehJI Quite talented, especially for someone so young.
