I made a news thingy about it! http://www.thegamingvault.com/2011/11/sex-ed-game-privates-wins-a-bafta/ Complete with snark against Microsoft. o/ I think we were the first ones to report on it. Hooray for Twitter journalism.

Normally I would be with you bbx, but...

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
Hermie replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
Indie game music for cheap today! Worth it for the VVVVVV soundtrack alone. (Note: I haven't heard most of the other ones) -
So far I've run away from a dragon, picked some flowers, resolved a love triangle, and helped a blacksmith with his work. I probably wont continue on this path right now, but it has made me very curious if a pacifistic character could work in the game.

So! I've played this beta. Here's my take on the auto-leveling thing: Customizability is still there, they just moved it. Instead of staring at a bunch of numbers every time I leveled up, I was staring at my skill set, deciding if I would incorporate the new skill or not. Here's the example I put in my article: In a way, it reminds me of Bastion, but deeper, where each combination gives you an unique combat feel. I was skeptical to the new system going in, but I was pleasantly surprised when the slot system gave me the same feeling of carefully considering how to build my character. There's plenty of little Diablo nerd things that didn't fit in the preview, but do ask me here about stuff. (PS: The Wizard is kind of a smug douchebag.)

Hello Thumbians. I am about to start my first foray into webmasterdom, which is why I'm requiring your knowledge about both domain registry services and server rentals. This is for a Norwegian language gaming-podcast, so there are some guidelines. -I need somewhere I can register .no domains. -We're gonna use Wordpress, so I need a server that is MySQL capable, or even better, comes with it already. -Since it's a podcast, We need somewhere with reasonable data and transfer limits (ideally: none, but can I even get that without lotsa money?) and the ability to expand these should we against odds become big enough to require it. -And of course, somewhere that has good service, uptime, doesn't try to swindle or upsell us on everything, and all that. Your suggestions? And well, if you know any general mistakes I should avoid in starting a website/podcast, I wouldn't hate it if you posted them.

I did not! Must investigate.

Thanks for the tips, guys. Dreamhost looks good. I vaguely recall someone complaining about them on Twitter, but I don't remember about what. I haven't touched Linux before, so linode looks scary. In the same manner, since I'm using this as a way of figuring things out, I'm kinda of scared to start delving into Amazon and such. The service sounds great, but I think I will stick with putting everything on one server until we start running into size issues. Seems I have to stick with Norwegian domain services for a .no. Oh well. Any other tips?

Oh, did I English wrong? Isn't "sexual debut" a thing?
-
The law is the same in Norway and (I believe) in other Scandinavian countries, with the two year grace period. In fact, interesting statistic; the average debut age in Norway is 18 for boys, 16 for girls.

Just got this, having a blast. Anyone else picked it up on PSN? Add "AmericanHerman" for co-optitude.

This is great news. Are they still giving away apps?

I've taken to using Wordfeud instead, because boo Zynga. (iTunes Android). Same features, looks better, and you can play random boards (very fun, I just played a 600 points game). My username there is HermanSL.

I wonder how frustrating it would be if they finally finished an entire floor of the building, only to watch it blink out of existence.

This looks so much like a Super Mario 64 level.

Would I enjoy it as a fan of Eureka? It seems those two are often compared/accompany each other, including a crossover.

Well, there's Koalas, and then there's Drop Bears.

I caught a screening of Black Dynamite yesterday, as you may already know, that movie is pure fun.

Another effective one is a glass of honey. They get stuck, then drown in it.

Loving the typical internet comments. It's never "Hey look, someone is putting in time and effort on a beloved game", but "looks like it sucks, I will instantly judge this." Nevsky: You should pimp them more! I loved the first one, but then it left my mind until now, so now I'm gonna watch all of them.

The Captain of America was good, clean fun, though you've probably heard this already. I also caught Midnight in Paris, the latest from Woody Allen. It has plenty of charm and wit, many cool cameos and what can only be described as art and literature fan service. However, I can never buy Owen Wilson as a character that isn't Owen Wilson. He doesn't quite pull off the Woody Allen obviously self-reflecting protagonist. (this one is a screenwriter that's tired of cliched Hollywood plots. Where are you Woody Allen? You've hidden so well, this is clearly not a version of you.) I also didn't really buy that Owen Wilson and Rachel MacAdams would ever make it all the way to engagement. Still, a charming little film, and well worth it to see Adrian Brodyquest as Salvador Dali.
