Oh no, it was clearly his household, we were just door openers and feeders and if we were lucky we got to be pillows for his royal highness.

We had a Norwegian forest cat when I was growing up, it was a total badass. It killed everything from tiny birds to seagulls and even birds bigger than him. One summer we found his murder nest behind some bushes, with like 5-6 carcasses, and he hadn't even eaten them. He also ruled the entire street, and would sometimes scare away dogs. I miss having a cat, hope I will end up in a pet-friendly apartment soon.
  3. Maximillian Payne: Part Trois

I'm kinda disappointed so far. The cover definitely defines the combat, and is not just there as an addition. I've not been able to run and gun without going down in a fountain of bloodsplatter. So a lot of the times I end up playing duck hunt, finding a spot and shooting at the heads that pop up. The combat very much feels like the same kind of encounters from Red Dead. Speaking of, I feel like the engine is kinda showing it's age. They're going for the hip Kane & Lynch 2 "shot on video" effect a lot of the time, with blown out colours and scanlines and such. It works well enough at times, but I often find the environments too... Well lit? Combined with the fact that everything is kinda shiny in the video game way, and it detracts very much from the stylish, cinematic look it feels like their trying for. (PS3 version by the way, PC might look better?) I just got the act 1 trophy, so I guess I will be back once I feel more about it.

Nice! I remember him wanting something within games, is it that, or more TV/movie stuff?

Good news : Went to a video game quiz, won, went home with Max Payne 3. Bad news : Tomorrow I have my exam in introductory IT/programming (Python). I've enjoyed the course, because I enjoy the trial and error of making it work the way it's supposed to, like a puzzle game. HOWEVER, since this school is stuck in the stone ages, you have to do the programming... WITH PEN AND PAPER. I feel very unprepared, I just have to spend the night reading about the core functions they want us to employ, and hope that I don't mess up the order or syntax. =/ Also also, they tend to reuse the assignments and questions used for the people starting IT or engineering degrees, which sometimes include math way out of my wheelhouse (I study film theory).
  6. Ok, now I got wary, should I skip on this episode until I've play WD? Keeping in mind that while something being spoiled isn't complete ruination for me, I still have the kind of brain that is like "oh, is this what they were talking about with that thing, or was it the other thing?". And if so, is there a part I can skip?

  8. Show me your desk/gaming space

Here's my desk: Setup is more elaborate and desk more messy for two reasons. One, my desktop tower fried something, probably the processor, so it's dead for the moment, thus the laptop hooked up to all the desktop stuff. And two, my bachelor thesis is due delivered in two days, thus stack of books and general disorder. The iPad is usually strewn on my bed somewhere. That's also a G15, but the generation after you guyses. It glows orange and has an LED screen, because video games. Here's my TV and playthings, taken from the view of my bed.

Fox was the production company of Buffy. Providing funds, studio space, all that jazz. It's a completely different arm from Fox the TV channel. If I recall the DVD special features correctly, they pitched it to Fox the channel first, then the other big channels, with no interest. Eventually The WB picked it up, being a very fresh, small, network channel, an Buffy became their first hit.

Yup, going through my thing I've found it very cathartic to be able to vent to my successor at the Student TV. I only got to know her this semester, when she joined my group, but I bonded very quickly with her once I found out she's also "from the internet". We're also pretty similar emotionally, but still different enough that it's been pretty good for both of us to compare and contrast stuff. So once this started going down, it was very good to have someone to rant my troubles at, either to get some perspective from her, or just to let it out. So if you have anyone to do this with, I recommend it. Heck, even spelling things out in this thread helped me, and I think it have for you too. I'm not supposed to admit this, especially not coming from the country where you're supposed to be stoic, reserved, and "fine" all the time, but sympathy feels good. When I'm feeling shitty about something, I will admit it to people that care to listen, because it's a good feeling to hear someone say "well that sucks, and shouldn't happen to you". Regarding distraction, I am TOO good at this. My first instinct when I feel down or angry or any other uncomfortable emotion, I tend to escape to video games or other pop media. As a result, I am now WAY behind on my bachelor thesis and other schoolwork. <.<
  11. So suddenly I see a launch trailer for Warlock: Master of the Arcane, and I wonder why I haven't heard of this? It looks like HoMM/King's Bounty mashed up with Civilization: Ym6VuKikiBk So, anyone have any more information about what this game might be? Because it sounds like exactly the kind of game I shouldn't try out until after exam season. EDIT: Well, now I HAVE to play this: EDITEDIT: I completely forgot we have a strategy forum now.

Plus, the hidden microphone and camera will allow you check if she's cheating on you. Smart move.

Yup, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland largely gets included into most EU-rights because of the EEA. We talked a bit about England, but we have no idea about what chances she has to get in/be employed there, or how the job market is. Any input? Also, how do people, employers or otherwise, view Latin-Americans?
  14. Life

Regarding language barriers, it's a very tricky thing. Most Scandinavians speak great English, and even with her working in such a diverse and international field (Architecture), she's hard pressed to find a job without speaking proper Swedish. It just gets easier for them to hire someone native. The worst part is that she has focused on city planning and urbanism, and those jobs are mostly within the counties and other official offices, who ESPECIALLY want Swedish. =/ She'll also have a hard time getting service jobs, because people will be offended if they go up to a counter and is forced to speak English. For me, on the other hand, it's no problem, since Norwegian and Swedish are so closed (thousands of Swedes cross the border each summer to work in restaurants and such, because of the better wages). At least when I go there and get a job, she'll be entitled to full time Swedish lessons, not just twice a week night courses. Language: A Weird Thing.
  15. Life

Ah, maybe I wasn't quite clear. The options are staying here or finding a job in Sweden. I would consider going to Brazil too, but she would never let me do that. After a lot of talking and soul-searching, I've landed on the fact that it wouldn't be worth being here without her. So I'm gonna try my best to find a position in Sweden, probably as Norwegian-speaking phone support. I think at least if I find a random job, I'll use my spare time to create stuff, maybe tell Norwegian media "hey, I can freelance and stuff", etc. It's gonna be really hard, but giving her up would be way, way harder.
  16. Life

Okay. So. I'm about to finish my Bachelors degree (I hope), and I've been having a long distance relationship for 2 years with a girl that is from Brazil, but studying in Sweden (I'm in Norway, for the record). Her degree is also over (Masters), and she's having trouble finding employment due to the language barrier. It's very tricky to get her to Norway if she doesn't have a job, even worse if I don't have one either. (Yes, even with marriage). In Sweden it's a little easier, given that I find a job. However, in the last year I've made a lot of friends and connections, primarily through working with the student TV here, and quickly rising in the grades. Now I'm about to interview to be the head of a new project, a website that gathers all the student media. Very exciting stuff, especially since it's exactly the kind of job I want in the future, and would be way more useful than a stupid film theory degree. I've long been hoping to find some way to get her here, and in that process, unconsciously stalling both options, but now I'm at a fork in the road. Her return ticket from last time she went from Brazil to Sweden expires in July, and we're both no closer to finding jobs both here and in Sweden. Do I completely reboot my life and take some mediocre job in a country with less jobs, less pay, and with me not being to get any writing jobs due to the language, in order to be with the woman I love? Or do I let her go and stay with my friends, my colleagues, my city, my potential future, but losing the most important person in my life? This is the hardest decision of my life. I thought grand, binary choices like this only happened in the movies.
  17. Two hits: Horny Jesus hits cop with massive butt. Church cock victory joy: 'it's huge and majestic'.
  18. Favorite early cancelled TV series

There are 13 episodes out there of a show called Kitchen Confidential, based on the Anthony Bourdain book/life, starring a yet-unknown Bradley Cooper. It's a one-camera sitcom that's nothing amazing, but fairly charming, and very accurate to how it is to work in a kitchen. Also starring: Frank Langella, John Cho, Xander from Buffy, the little brother from Freaks and Geeks, Jaime King, and Sam Pancake (the gay guy in every sitcom ever). Apparently it got screwed by some kind of sporting schedule, just as it was hitting it's stride. A nice way to spend a couple of evenings if you're looking to catch a comedy without committing to 8 seasons.
  19. Zorro Joins Double Fine

I wonder if, like Irrational, (and Nick Breckon at Bethesda) part of why he was hired was to be a podcaster, in addition to community stuff. Double Fine Action Cast would definitely benefit from the Remo seal of quality.

Sounds like the language setup for your keyboard changed. You can change this in settings, or, like you probably did accidentally, use the shortcut alt+shift.
  22. Plug your shit

Thanks! That's very valuable to me. =) I'm very much in the "finding my voice" phase, so it was refreshing to try a completely different style of writing once. Your advice is solid, and applies to most creative stuff.
  23. Plug your shit

I wrote a something about how Journey made me feel, would love some feedback.
  24. Fff, wish it was in a slightly more Euro-friendly timeslot. Oh well, nothing doing, I suppose. Looking forward to watching it tomorrow, at least.
