Holy shit, I totally meant Bullet Witch! And yeah, it controls like shit - but you can play through on easy and then restart on Medium w/ all your upgrades carrying over, etc... Also the Tornado power was fucking cool. I won't argue that it's a horribly broken game with a retarded story knee-deep in the river of cheese. But I will say I enjoyed it enough to purchase it for 8 dollars used. What can I say? I love witches. Gunwitch is a character from Dan Brereton's Nocturnals comic book. Who, come to think on of it, would make a pretty sweet video game protagonist.

I am also looking forward to District 9.

I am REALLY looking forward to this movie. Sam Rockwell is awesome.

I picked up Space Ace and Mecho Wars yesterday. Based on my limited playtime with both: Space Ace looks fantastic on the iPhone screen. I really wish they could have modified the control scheme to make you tap on the flashing objects in the scene, instead of the QTE style arrows you have to tap - because they cover up too much of the screen and are always there. I realize this might not have been remotely feasible due to budget restrictions - but it sure would be nice, because like I said, this looks pretty sweet on the iPhone screen. Not to mention all the wonderful memories it brings back. For those of you that have sunk 10 or more dollars into a Space Ace machine in a sitting - 5 bucks is a pretty reasonable price to pay to see the whole thing play out. Mecho Wars is Luc Bernard's take on Advance Wars. It's pretty much a copy of Advance Wars with Bernard's sometimes fruity, sometimes awesome illustrations. The color pallet is a bit too candy raver for my taste, but there are some cool-looking and creative units so it balances out. The gameplay is, like I said - pretty much Advance Wars with a few minor tweaks like water freezing at night, and ranged units being able to move and shoot in the same turn. I'm still getting used to the rock/paper/scissors hierarchy, but it's pretty enjoyable overall so far. I'm about 4 maps into it. Worth 5 bucks for sure. It'll prolly drop in rice at some point if you're patient.

Man! I'm really really interested in this! I'm all for more table top games coming to XBL/PC/PSN, especially Space Hulk and Zombies. SF3D would be pretty cool too.

Glad you like it! I go there in search of inspiration on a regular basis.

Adding to Que... A trashy/shitty B-movie but fun game favorite of mine is Gunwitch, because, I mean it's fucking called GUNWITCH. And also, you get to fight flying eyeballs on top of a plane. It's berzerk!

I don't see XBox 360 anywhere on the site, but I could swear I saw somewhere that it was announced for XBox Live. I love Games Workshop stuff, so I'm definitely interested in this - it looks fun.

Sadly, I'm afflicted with this curse. Even some third person games with consistently herky/jerky camera movement will do me in. Twitchy FPS games destroy me. It sucks because I really really want to play Zeno Clash, Team Fortress 2, and Left 4 Dead - but for whatever reason Source Engine games hit me particularly hard. I even tried enlarging the field of view in Zeno Clash, but it still makes me super dizzy after about 5 minutes. I was able to get through and enjoy Bioshock and Portal - and I even play some of the cramped corridors in Fallout 3 in FPS mode by choice. Obviously, the deliberate pacing of these allows it. I can handle small spurts of crazy (like in Bioshock), but I eventually reach a tipping point. Anyone else have this?

So, if they release this on XBox live, I can try the demo and see if less FPS/nausea-inducing (distance from screen is a huge difference maker for me), and if so, I'll definitely buy this again.

He definitely has a deliberate manner of speaking that was off-putting to me at first, but I've grown used to. It's like he's forcing himself to have a radio voice, but it doesn't come across as natural to me. Nonetheless, he's a smart dude, and his show is the only video game podcast outside of Idle Thumbs that I give a shit about.

That Buddy Rich video is fantastic! Can't believe I've never seen that. And also, let's not forget this master of drumming showmanship: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZfVfyR5F1E&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZfVfyR5F1E&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> -
Heads up... Peggle is 99 cents until Sunday. I paid 5 and regret nothing, for whatever that's worth.

Neat Robert Ashley (A Life Well Wasted) thing about Scribblenauts & it's word-of-mouth wildfire: http://www.crispygamer.com/features/2009-06-11/scribblenauts-how-a-nobody-game-became-the-talk-of-this-years-e3.aspx

Max Roach was more than pretty good. He was the fucking MAN! That's a cool idea btw... -
I can play Bioshock for a couple hours and be fine, but watching someone else play it for 5 minutes and I'm ready to fucking die.

I love love LOVE the art direction in this game! I really hope they keep doing stuff in this world. Once I work up the nerve (and get some ginger pills) I'm gonna force myself to play it again.

I was so fucking excited for this, as Street Fighter 2 (Champion Ed) on the Genesis was the game that reignited my love affair with video games, and I played the shit outta that game. Constantly. So, I hear about this - and naturally I'm excited. I even bought one of those Sega Saturn USB controllers on ebay so I would have the perfect D-Pad. I was sooooo pumped. And then I got the game. At first, it was fun just seeing how much I still had the mechanics of it burned into my subconscious. I felt really nice for a few minutes and then that dreadful feeling crept over me. I've moved on. It's not fun anymore. This doesn't speak to me like it used to. I tried to get past it but I just couldn't shake it. 2 hours later, I admitted it to myself. I'm sorry Blanka. We had some great times - but this is where we part ways.

I think they're developing for PC too.

Wild Wild West? What a piece of shit that was! I think it's entirely possible that someone will eventually make a cool steampunk/western mash-up - I just haven't seen it yet.

Since I'm apparently rocking some kind of blog-linking theme today, here's a film blog that I really really like a lot. They focus on genre films from all over the world, and I constantly find out about interesting movies there: TWITCH

Yeah, I guess at it's core, that's what I like most about steampunk. It's just an aesthetic framework that a lot of compelling narratives and artistic endeavors can exist in. There's a wide range of interpretations of it which is both good and bad. Good because there seems to be no purist standard for those types to hawkishly defend, and therefore will continue to attract people who love to tinker with and mash-up aesthetic styles. Bad I guess when you see it's potential watered down by the anime/cosplay scene and their super-literal interpretation of things.

Well, there's always Damnation. Haw!
