  1. Far Cry 2

    Spoiler question around 30% completion:
  2. Left 4 Thumbs 2

I agree, I was kind of tired of it by the end of the 2nd versus (even though we won oh yeah), next time I vote scavenge after versus. Good times though!
  3. *Breathy Voice* Bayonetta *Breathy Voice*

    quotin' this
  4. Far Cry 2

Agree about the checkpoints / respawning enemies. I've been playing this game for a little while now, I'm at 16% completion and about 9 hours in. Aside from those few things I dislike, I am enjoying it very much. I guess another complaint would be the AI sucks, but all of you probably know that by now. I think my favorite thing about it is the environment, it is just gorgeous even at medium settings. And overall the gameplay is just really fun and I do think the buddy mechanic is sort of compelling, I actually care about my buddy in the context of the game.
  5. Red Dead Redemption

This game has fantastic box art. Oh, and the game looks sweet too.
  6. Black Friday Deals

Pretty sure they recently patched Lucidity to have checkpoints throughout the levels so you don't have to restart everything if you die. I haven't played it since then but I imagine that'd make it less frustrating (dunno about more fun). I hope anyone who doesn't own Mirror's Edge picks that up, for $5 I even bought it and I already have it for 360. On medium settings it runs at least 30fps which I think is pretty good for my computer (and seems to look as good as the 360 version at medium).
  7. Do you want games?

I can't believe you people, no one asking for Hotel Dusk.
  8. *Breathy Voice* Bayonetta *Breathy Voice*

Decisions decisions...(I vote cut off your hand)
  9. Videogames for very young children

Oh yeah, I played those games when I was young and loved them. I remember I had Putt Putt goes to the moon and Putt Putt saves the zoo or something like that, and I really played those games to death. Never even knew they were Ron Gilbert games till maybe last year.
  10. Black Friday Deals

I picked up Far Cry 2, even though I already have it for 360, I haven't gotten very far into it and I'd rather play the PC version. Tempted to pick up Dragon Age as a gift at that price too. Amazon has a 12 month XBL Gold card for $29.99 if you buy MW2, unless MW2 gets a different sale by friday, I will probably pick those up.
  11. goty.cx 2009?

Dragon Age edit: like a week ago I voted on the Spike VGAs and Dragon Age wasn't even a nominee for goty, and resident evil 5 wasn't on the list for best graphics. wtf?
  12. Dragon Age

I had some pretty terrible problems with what seemed like a memory leak but it was very extreme, like playing perfect at one point, and then it would just start to go extremely slow and eventually freeze. The times I had this problem was always in dialog sequences. Maybe I mentioned it earlier in this thread, I don't remember. But I have also noticed that the game runs much smoother when I initially start it than it does several hours later. It also crashed more than several times. Even with those problems, overall gameplay was smooth and I play on my laptop so I guess I'm bound to have some problems.
  13. Left 4 Thumbs 2

I just have a fairly standard Logitech headset, couldn't find the model on Newegg so maybe they don't make my particular one but I'm sure you can get a similar one for no more than $20, mine is pretty similar to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104213&cm_re=logitech_headset-_-26-104-213-_-Product. Was great fun playing with everyone, I'll definitely be around in the future. I agree that scavenge was hard to get the hang of but very fun nonetheless.
  14. Cool music to impress my friends

You're probably right. Those fingers are hot!
  15. Cool music to impress my friends

Pfft, I have amazing taste in music, anyone who says otherwise doesn't.
  16. Cool music to impress my friends

pBjBFEByEDE This track was featured on an episode of csi miami at a party, it must be good also Chris Cornell is amazing
  17. Dragon Age

It definitely fits the "BioWare Template". Behold: So did you enjoy the writing in BioWare's other games? Honestly though I thought the writing was fine, there are definitely a few very well done characters. I definitely skipped through some dialog throughout the game if it was boring or not important though.
  18. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Not really a recommendation... But I did not realize how awesome last.fm was, and I've been a member there for a long time. I always only used it for scrobbling music to my profile, but I tried out the Xbox Live app and have been listening to a ton of new stuff through the recommended stations. If any thumbs use it, add me: http://www.last.fm/user/SlaaneshPrince So my recommendation: check it out if you haven't already.
  19. Other podcasts

I think it's a pretty rad idea, definitely go for it. I might like to participate somewhere down the line but I'd like to hear the long time thumbs first.
  20. Left 4 Thumbs 2

I am also finding l4d2 much harder than the original, and I was definitely not a pro at the original (I often become incapacitated on advanced).
  21. Dragon Age

It gets interesting with her at the end of the game, but at the same time it pissed me off because of the choice you're forced to make. I agree with you about being the most interesting character though, I definitely looked forward to new dialog with her the most.
  22. Hotel Dusk Sequel

Still being classified as a rumor, but it's looking pretty certain to me. Originally posted at this Japanese site, folks at Neogaf have translated that entry as well as some apparent impressions when it was shown at a Japanese retailer conference. The translated title is Last Window: Midnight Promise. Overview: - Set in 1980 Los Angeles - Takes place in the Cape West Apartments - Stand alone game from Hotel Dusk, though might have references to the first - Kyle Hyde is still the main character - First major feature is the ignore feature where rather than butting in to something you can choose to ignore them - Other major feature is an in-game novel called "Last Window" where a new chapter unlocks after you finish a chapter in the game - Novel has variations depending on how you play the game - rumble cart support Even if all of that is not correct, as long as the game is coming I am excited. Hotel Dusk is my favorite DS title and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't gotten their hands on it. The sequel is apparently coming to Japan January 14, 2010 so hopefully it won't be too long afterwards that the game is translated and released worldwide. What do the thumbs think of the first game and are you excited for this one?
  23. Assassin's Creed II

Kind of the same situation for me. I definitely want it, but don't have time with all the games I already have on my plate, plus getting more busy with school. Will probably pick it up once I finish the semester or maybe early next year.I liked the first game a lot though. I know the big complaint against it was that it was too repetitive, but I didn't really care because I just thought the overall gameplay was so fun. Since there seem to be a lot of improvements in this one, I am certain I'll enjoy it.
  24. Left 4 Thumbs 2

Sounds like I missed most of you today but I'd definitely be up for some co-op campaigns in the future. I haven't fully gone through any of them yet, keep getting interrupted, but I should be available to play most afternoons (I am GMT-5). My Steam name is Jeffu32.
  25. Hotel Dusk Sequel

I can definitely see where you guys that don't like it are coming from. It could definitely be frustrating; there were several times when I knew I was doing the right thing to solve a certain puzzle but because it wasn't exactly how the game wanted it, it wouldn't let me progress. But I still loved it, maybe I'm just a sucker for mystery stories like this.
