I did not like the ending of this very much at all. Short rant follows (do not read if you haven't finished the game): Overall though I obviously thought the game was great. I'll probably play through the campaign again once I finally get a new PC as it was chugging on my laptop.

Overall I was only slightly underwhelmed with the 6th volume only because I expected so much after the first five. Maybe I shouldn't say underwhelmed, but it's not my favorite volume out of them all. The ending was pretty much what I was expecting but that is not a bad thing. This is definitely my favorite comic/graphic novel series though, no book has ever made me laugh so much. Also can't wait for the movie, definitely will be going to a midnight showing of that. I don't mind if it veers from the ending of the books as overall it looks very faithful and it will be fun to go in not knowing exactly what to expect.

Arkham Asylum was definitely one of my favorite games of 2009, really looking forward to this one. Kind of bummed we have to wait for another year, but I guess it should be really polished by then. Love the artwork from the GI covers, and love that Catwoman will be in it. Can't wait.

The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 11: Diplomatic Pouch
Moelman replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I am late to the party, but I will be sad to see the thumbs go. This episode had me cracking up on the bus and getting weird looks as usual. Congrats Chris on the new job! Hopefully this hasn't been asked since I didn't read this thread but when can you say where you'll be working? Fuck Chris. -
Beat Alan Wake a week ago or so. Haven't played the DLC yet though. Overall enjoyed the game a lot, thought combat could be a little frustrating on hard difficulty but I probably brought that on myself. Liked the story and the VA, but the lipsync was pretty bad.

I think this is the case. I'm glad they are making this as I'm not sure I'd be interested in the MMO, but online co-op? Fuck yes.

I really wish I was. I went for a day last year, and I was in San Diego in May and June, sucks that I had to come back home earlier than last year. Aside from just wanting to go in general, there's all the stuff going on for Scott Pilgrim this year which I'd love.

I think it says, "What is game?"

Yeah I had plenty of crashes while playing this on an 8600M GT. Not gonna touch Awakening till I get a new rig.

The entire second screenshot looks like shit. Even with the game a ways away, why would you make that piece of garbage public. Hopefully the final game does not look like that because from those two shots, I am not liking the new style at all. But I guess this is the new new shit.

For anyone who hasn't heard, Blizzard will be using Real ID (real first and last names) for all forum posts from the release of SC2 and Cataclysm going forward. So basically if you post on their forums, you will be posting under your real name. It is not retroactive however. Read more here: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/64623 http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/1851-Battle-net-Update-Upcoming-Changes-to-the-Official-Forums So I'm interested to hear what the thumbs think about this. I'm personally fine with it since my real name is all over the web already, but I know a lot of people are up in arms about it. I can see why someone might not want their name on a WoW forum when a potential employer goes searching for them, or something like that. But I think the more general argument of privacy doesn't make sense, what is someone going to do with just a name, and even if there is private info to be dug up, who is going to go digging unless you are a huge asshole.

I suppose I can finally post my face now that I have had a recent photo taken of me: At the Santana concert. Maybe someday I will get a photo where I don't have a hat on, my hair is like >= Hermie's.

Soundtracks for the video-games, and your most beloved ones
Moelman replied to Snooglebum's topic in Video Gaming
I agree with the above that the WotLK sound track is top notch. Probably my favorite OST belongs to one of my favorite games, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. -Qh_uhV0ta0 RO34ixsNZaE The end credits song is also really good: eLsgLtTd4Go -
The point that worries me is: "Think like a general and fight like a Spartan with dynamic new combat mechanics that put you right in the heart of battle whether you are a mage, rogue, or warrior." I don't want combat to be any different. I loved it on the PC version. The only thing that could make it better would be the ability to queue attacks a la Baldur's Gate and other RPGs of that era. Also, I didn't really dislike the visual style, aside from the random blood spatter, so I hope it's not completely different. Basically, I hope they aren't trying to make it "more accessible" after they made such an awesome throwback to old school RPGs with Origins.

These are my thoughts as well. I am glad to see them listening to what people want, since the majority of people clearly were opposed to it, but I personally wish they had stuck to their guns as I think that is the direction the Internet should go (real names) and it would have been great for such a huge community to start that trend.

I picked that one up last night as well not knowing much about it and it was pretty fun. For that price I would recommend it as well, though I don't see myself spending a ton of time on it.Maybe it's just because I've bought so much stuff in past sales on Steam but the daily sales don't seem that great to me. There hasn't been much on sale that interests that I didn't already own, and except for new releases I generally only buy games on sale. Hopefully they will get better as we get closer to the end. Or maybe Steam has just spoiled me.

Thanks for the birthday wishes all!

I've been keeping my eye on this thread at SA forums for a while, it's a frequently updated parts guide and I'll be at least using it as a place to start when I finally get around to building a new rig. So yeah I'd recommend anyone check it out.
-
I am kind of surprised there is so little interest in here, I thought Thumbs would love it. For me it is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. For anyone who is on the fence, I really would just recommend checking out the first volume, it's only like $10. For me right after I read that, I went out and bought all the other volumes. Really hope the game is only like a few months exclusive on PS3, though I really should get a PS3 sometime regardless of this game.
-
I might have already said this in this thread, but I thought that was the worst part of the game, it seriously made me want to quit. Just way too damn long. Which was too bad because underground dungeons like that are a staple of fantasy RPGs.
-
Any Thumbs industry people going to E3, that are also going to an after party tomorrow night, that also want to hook me up? We (me plus two others) are looking for an invite. Don't worry we're super cool. Anyone going to E3 in general? P.S. yes I know it's pretty late notice.
-
Damn dude, glad you're ok, that sounds like pretty serious stuff.

I just read this entire series like a week ago and am in love with it. I did not realize it was going to launch as PSN-only which sucks as I don't have a PS3. But the game looks amazing from the little we've seen, I will definitely play it. Is it coming to XBLA eventually?
