  1. Recently completed video games

Reach on Normal It's amazing, you should play it.
  2. Halo Reach

I am definitely interested as well. I agree with Jon about Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, as Monday and Wednesday I have evening class from 6-8 EST.
  3. PC purchasing advice

I will vouch for this man. Also I agree with the others, the parts you listed are too outdated and would not play new shooters well. Patters's recommendation of an i5 or Phenom II is a good one, I just build a rig with an i5 and it's affordable and faster than anything I had ever used. There are a lot of options for video cards but I would not go with the one you have selected.
  4. Video games

I'm hoping I'll be better about it now that I have a new gaming PC. With my laptop it was always a hassle to close all my programs to play a game and deal with super long loading times so I probably didn't play as often as I would otherwise. Or maybe now I'll just be worse now that I can play and have my laptop sitting here on the forums at the same time, like I am now.
  5. Video games

Yeah this is kind of the same with me, about the web surfing, I spend a lot of time on these forums and other gaming websites when I could be playing games, but I guess that is the same with all of us.
  6. Halo Reach

Got it on pre-order at Amazon, looking forward to it. I have not really stuck with a multiplayer game on 360 long after release but I could see myself spending some time with this one.
  7. Monitor advice

Brands I have had good luck with: Samsung, ASUS, Hans-G (the last one is particularly affordable usually)
  8. Buying or building a PC

hijack Got my new rig running today, and it is a beast Intel Core i5 2.66GHz Quad Nvidia GTX 470 4GB RAM 1TB Hard drive 650W PSU It sucked because my initial power supply, a 550W was DOA, but I just went out and bought a new one today and will send the bad one back to Newegg (though fuck them if they expect me to pay a restocking fee AND shipping, I will be calling on Tuesday about that). Just played BFBC2 on all highest settings, it was amazing. I've never really played on anywhere close to this high end of a PC before, it's such a leap from my laptop.

I wish that was mine. The first one was it was like a reader meet-up in Chris's apartment and he was "being an asshole" and the other one was the one with mini pirate ships.
  10. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Ohshit, is September the best month in music ever? New Eric Clapton album, "Clapton", new Santana album, "Guitar Heaven" (covers of amazing rock songs), and the new Soundgarden compilation "Telephantasm" with one new song. I don't think I've ever bought 3 albums released so close together like that. Not a fan of the single from Guitar Heaven though (While My Guitar Gently Weeps). I mean it's OK but nothing like the original, the solo is great but the backing track and even vocals are not my favorite. 5DeOSLNbhfg
  11. PC plz kthx bye! I would just try and play it on console somehow, but none of my friends have the game.

Both of my dreams were read, they were the really weird ones. Also haha Sleepdance I just had a job review today and my supervisor knows how I want to get into games and he said he played Travian for like a year (he does play good games too though). I had never heard of it before then.
  13. Scott Pilgrim [video game]

I also had some problems with the 360 version. Frame drops were noticeable, and at least 3 times I got stuck at a screen and could not advance, so had to start the level completely over. I am not super experienced with the beat-em-up genre, having not played a game like this since the Sega Genesis era, but I think it's too hard single player. I get that this genre is known for its difficulty, but on "Normal Joe" difficulty I even found it too frustrating to spend much time on. I think the big issue is that the enemies take too long to defeat. The levels aren't too long, but it takes too long to get through them and it's too annoying to have to redo the entire level when you lose all your lives, especially on the bosses.
  14. Rock Band 3

Yeah, I currently am not familiar with most of the songs in RB3 so I'm not super excited for that part. But with RB2 it was the same way and I have been introduced to a ton of music that I may not have been otherwise, so hopefully RB3 will be the same.
  15. Scott Pilgrim [graphic novel/motion picture]

I agree about finishing the novels first, as there are a lot of parts in the movie that you will "get" more if you've read them. Not that those parts don't make sense otherwise, but you will get the references. It won't be ruined either way though.
  16. Rock Band 3

It's a real guitar: You can play it outside of RB3 as a normal electric guitar and stuff. I am so torn on whether or not to get it, because I own the exact same guitar (Squier by Fender Strat, black) but this one is actually worse than mine, looks like it doesn't have any tone controls and only one pickup. Not sure if I want to pay $250+ (speculative price) for a "video game" guitar that I kind of already own. I am currently learning guitar so I think RB3 would be a great learning tool with pro mode, but the hardware would really be a step down for me.
  17. (IGN.com)

It's even worse that I read that as "holographic breasts".
  18. Scott Pilgrim [graphic novel/motion picture]

I don't think he meant too bad it sucked as in the movie sucks, it's too bad it sucks that such a good movie is not doing well. At least that is how I feel about it. Seen it 3 times.
  19. Scott Pilgrim [graphic novel/motion picture]

I am basically completely obsessed, seen the movie twice, listened to the soundtrack numerous times, and now I want my friend to finish reading my novels so I can read them again...help me.
  20. Michigan: Report from Hell

I thought this was a thread about thumbs from MI! Am I the only one? But now I remember hearing about this game before.
  21. Starcraft 2

Thanks, I will have to try that the next time it happens, which will probably be soon.I think after playing a bunch of games yesterday, Battle.net is starting to get a better idea of how good I am. For my first 5 games or so after the placement matches, the opponent was always favored. Now the past five or so, I have been slightly favored in maybe 3 which is nice. I also finally started to win some. Also, I may have been overreacting about the end of the campaign.
  22. Starcraft 2

To anyone who is good at multiplayer: How do you beat Protoss cannon rush? I play Zerg. P.S. that strategy is the lamest shit ever.
  23. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Picked that up on Amazon when I saw it was $4 for MP3 download. Still need to give it a second listen to get a better impression but it's good. I also have Neon Bible and like it fairly well.
