  1. Definition Transition - Are YOU HD?

I have seen Blu-ray before and it definitely is a huge difference, but at least with my example of Star Wars, those movies are so old I'm not sure BR could do much with it. I'm thinking about getting a PS3 now that the slim is out and they are more affordable and if I did I would probably start to buy BR only. Not sure if that will happen anytime soon but HD movies are not as big a deal to me as gaming, which was the main reason I bought the tv.
  2. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

My gamertag is Jeffu32, feel free to add me, I'd love to play with some thumbs. I'd be up for some GTA IV multiplayer if you guys want, I've just been going though the main story this past week for the first time. Never actually played multiplayer but I assume knowing how to play the game in general is all you need to know.
  3. The Bat Man

Nevsky is definitely on the right track. My favorite Batman graphic novel is The Long Halloween, and I also love Year One. I've also read TDK Returns. I guess for your first one, Year One would be a good one to start with. I wouldn't recommend this for your first Batman comic but the RIP storyline that ran recently was excellent for a future recommendation and for anyone else. I got the whole series as it was still running in comics (Batman, Detective Comics, Nightwing, etc) and now it's available in trade paperback and hard cover (But it's just the main Batman comics, not the others that were part of the storyline as well) Others I'd like to read are Hush, Killing Joke, and All Star Batman and the Boy Wonder.
  4. Beatles: Rock Band

I think you can either buy the huge bundle, or you can buy the game separately and then guitars will also be sold separately, but I don't think there are any bundles besides the one with guitar, drums, and mic.
  5. First game you remember playing

The first one I can remember is Sonic 2 for Sega Genesis. I may have played other games at friends of family's houses or whatever, but that was my first console and first game and I don't really remember playing anything before that.
  6. iPhone/iTouch gaming

I've played Civ Rev (lite) for a little while and I think it's great, I'd consider getting the full version. Also, thanks to people for mentioning Tap Tap Revenge, I had seen this game but never knew that it was called, so I just downloaded it and gonna try it out. I also think Lemonade Tycoon is pretty fun for a mindless time waster.
  7. No More Heroes 2: From the Toilet

Definitely think the 8 bit minigames look sweet. And overall this is probably my #1 upcoming Wii game to look forward to. I am currently on the 7th rank fight in the first one, and loving it.
  8. Beatles: Rock Band

I played it at E3, but since I wasn't sure how difficult the song would be (Get Back) I played on medium (usually play hard or sometimes expert on RB2) and it was really easy, only reason I missed a few notes was because their TVs weren't synced well with the game. That said it doesn't help much since medium isn't very hard in the first place when you're used to hard and expert.I'm definitely getting this shortly after release, probably one of my top games that I've been looking forward to this year. Only thing that is slightly disappointing is how they seem to really want to be cashing in with DLC. I don't have a problem with Rock Band DLC usually because its completely optional and you can pick and choose what you want, but 45 songs is a lot less than the 80+ that came with RB2 and they're already talking about Abbey Road and Sgt Peppers as DLC. edit: Also for getting quiet drums, I bought my RB1 drumset from a dude off craigslist, and he glued pieces of felt to the drum pads, and while they are still loud enough, its probably still worth it.
  9. Games with steep difficulty curves

Yeah, SF IV single player is ridiculous. I didn't give it much of a chance as I'm not a big fighting game guy in the first place but I could barely play on medium even. One of the hardest games I have ever played is Call of Duty 4. I played it (well I'm on the last level but haven't played for a few weeks) on "Hardened" I think which is the 2nd hardest difficulty, and I just can't even imagine playing on Veteran (hardest). I know I am not a pro FPS player but I don't think I'm terrible and I probably should have played on a lower difficulty, but I'm too proud (want the achievement) to lower the difficulty. Not sure if this one meets what exactly you specified or not as I haven't played the lesser difficulties but several levels have taken me 10 or more tries.
  10. Definition Transition - Are YOU HD?

I had been sort of gaming in HD previously, using my 22" Samsung monitor with VGA cables for the Wii and 360. This past week, I took the full plunge and got a 32" 1080p Samsung tv and it's amazing. Picked up a cheap HDMI cable to go with it and I will definitely never go back. Haven't played the Wii on it yet, guessing I will need to pick up the component cables for it to look any good. One thing I couldn't believe was what DVDs are like on this TV using my 360 as a DVD player. I watched Star Wars last night and I don't even think bluray could improve how it looks.
  11. Time Donkey

Yeah, I think centering the camera was my main issue. I tried it for a little while but not sure I quite "got" it. Maybe I'll give it another go.
  12. Hey, I read The Hound of the Baskervilles in like 7th grade and did a book report on it. I also looked up those Batman skins for the PC demo and I am tempted to reinstall that demo just to try them out, some look amazing. Also, I am liking the blog.

"It will please you, with a depth that might surprise you." -IGN.com XD Couldn't resist that one.
  14. Rock Band / Rock Band 2

If that was in the game that alone would make me get the game. Kind of disappointed we haven't seen any PF in any GH or RB games yet, at least that I know of. But yeah I think this is pretty silly. What will be the difference between this game and Rock Band other than the graphics are legos? Kind of the same thing with Beatles Rock Band. I hope that EA doesn't go the Activision route with RB and start releasing 6 sequels an spinoffs per year like GH currently does.
  15. Fallout: New Vegas

I still haven't played Fallout 3 but I am still really looking forward to this, if only because of Obsidian with Avellone leading the team.

"This game is on a top 10 list!" -IGN.com
  17. GTA Chinatown Wars

Yeah, kind of sucks since it pretty much guarantees we won't be seeing any titles like this coming to the DS anytime soon. Just further solidifies the position that DS is for kids and soccer moms. :/
  18. Resi 5

I know a lot of you didn't care for the game but this is probably my favorite game that I own for 360. RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time and I played it before I had played any of the other RE games so I do not mind the control scheme, though I did play 5 with the RE4 control scheme as the newer controls made the game feel even less survival horror than it already is. I've completed the game on Veteran and Professional over online co-op and I just think it's great fun, though I will agree that especially on professional the last part of the game just sucks. On 6-3 alone we died over 50 times, and we were using unlimited ammo and fully upgraded weapons that we had unlocked from our first run through. Aside from fun gameplay I thought the cutscenes were done excellently and I would say this is the most visually impressive game of the current generation of consoles (better than MGS4). The main complaint I have with the game is the inventory system which just sucks, I can see the need for a system in which you don't need to pause since there are two players but having an herb and a rocket launcher take up the same amount of space doesn't make sense. It was also retarded that the melee vest and bullet proof vest take up an inventory slot. Since I did both playthroughs as co-op I didn't have this problem but I've heard Sheva's AI is not too great either, always wasting first aid sprays or whatever. But co-op is where it's at with this game.
  19. GTA Chinatown Wars

Yeah, from what I read analysts predicted around 200,000-400,000 units in the first month and it only moved 89,000. I guess that is still good for an M rated DS game, and DS games usually have longer shelf lives than other console games. This is one that I'd like to pick up, but I just haven't had time, and I have so many other DS games to play already. Kind of good to see them taking the less serious route like it's been in the past instead of continuing on with the feel of GTA IV (not that it didn't work for GTA IV).
  20. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hey Internet, my name is Jeff. Been listening for a while now but just decided to register on the forums. Love the show, definitely my favorite podcast. Recognize a few names from lucasforums, I'm somewhat of a lurker in Mixnmojo; actually picked up listening to you guys from hearing Thrik mention it. Look forward to being blown away on the forums.
