This is pretty much what I feel about that game too. I think KotOR 2 could have been as good or better than the original had they been given more development time. KotOR is probably my favorite game but I am a big Chris Avellone fan and I think overall the writing was better in 2.

I was half-joking about being gritty and mature, really take out the sex and blood spatter and the game is not any more or less mature than Baldur's Gate or other fantasy RPGs. Don't tell BioWare that though.
-
Murdoc, I would say this game is much more like Baldur's Gate than KotOR is (aside from the setting obviously). The tactical top-down camera is exactly like BG, and the gameplay is extremely similar, in both the battles and the conversations. This one is just much more gritty and mature. But I am loving it.

Idle Thumbs 50: "Farewell, Video Games" or "The Shitty Wizard"

Episode was amazing guys. I am currently playing Dragon Age so glad you spent some time with that one. And very glad to hear about the future casts, though I will miss Nick (fuck you Nick (sorry I hadn't said it yet)). To include Nick in the future episodes, maybe you could just play a sound clip of him saying "It's pretty good" when you discuss a game. Also, I love that episode art. I set it as my computer wallpaper. -

God damn I am loving this game, put over 20 hours in already, I haven't played a game this much for a long time. Baldur's Gate is one of my favorite games of all time and this just plays so much like it. It's crashed once randomly, and during some big battles it runs choppy on my laptop, but it's been surprisingly smooth overall. Wish BioWare would release the damn toolset, the download link has been up since launch but it just 404s.
-
Yeah, I think PC is the way to go even without the toolset just from a gameplay and graphics perspective, but mods put it way over the top. Honestly I am not too thrilled with the character creator so hopefully people start working on mods soon after the game is released.

Chozo statue boss in Super Metroid Fucking hard boss

That one is probably my favorite too. The Wizard always makes me lol, and Space Asshole is definitely hilarious.I don't really have a favorite information technology song.

That is one thing I'd love to see someone make. Just bought the game but don't have time to give it a go yet, I'll be playing it later today. I'll probably start with the alchemist, though I think the Vanquisher looks cool too.
-
I can agree with you about Alyx. I'd have to say while I was playing and you're on your own, I was always looking forward / hoping for an upcoming part where you'd meet up with her. I just found her to be a great and believable character. Possible I'll enjoy the episodes more if she is around more.

I think for Street Fighter IV, if you are not normally a fighting game player it is very hard to get the hang of and you really have to start at the lowest difficulty and work your way up. Maybe I just suck but I could hardly beat anyone on medium the first time I played.
-
This is the best advice probably, I think for gaming a decent video card is definitely the most important thing, I've gotten by with having a good video card but below required CPU and RAM for games before. 9800's and whatever ATI's equivalent is are pretty cheap these days.

Maybe any MMO is like this, I don't really know, but World of Warcraft is probably a great example. It is definitely not "hard", almost anyone can pick it up and play with any play style, casual or hardcore. The big thing most people who might be a more casual gamer may not be willing to invest is a lot of time, but if you don't mind paying, it doesn't require a large time investment to be fun. And then it obviously goes all the way to hardcore with the high-end raiders and PVPers.

I had never even heard of this game till mentioned on Idle Thumbs and really just now actually looked in to what it even is, but watching that Giant Bomb quick look and reading up on it, I'm definitely gonna consider getting it. The only reason I don't right away is I have so much to finish already.

I actually just beat Half-Life 2 last week or so. I had owned it since the beginning of the year but just never got around to playing it and didn't know what all the fuss was about it so it wasn't that high on my priorities list, but when I went through my Steam list looking at unfinished games I just decided to give it a go, I fuckin loved it. Definitely one of the best games I've played. I don't really see how anyone can actually dislike it, maybe be indifferent, but there is so little wrong about it. I rarely got stuck, the level design is so great. Also I've never played the first one. Gonna move on to the episodes next.

This week they also read an email where some guy was complaining that Chris swears a lot and other stuff about Subject Zero, was pretty funny.
-
I like that idea.

At first I was like "best cast ever because of my readermail", but then I was like "worst cast ever because of bad news". Congrats Nick! Only wish you the best. And really congrats to all of you, even though your run was far too short this is by far my favorite podcast and definitely one of the best out there, and really something I looked forward to every week. So thanks to all you guys.

I watched the first episode of this the other day, looked stunning with my computer hooked up to the hdtv. Definitely a series I will follow.

I used to play Warhammer fantasy, but don't have much time for it anymore and also don't know anyone else who plays to play with. I loved it though, had multiple armies.

Yeah I am finding it pretty hard. Even things like a few of the ambushes I tried I found hard, where I wouldn't die but everyone else on my team would. I was also tempted to drop to Gentle but surely I can finish it on Normal or whatever, I have gotten pretty frustrated though.
