Legend of Grimrock is 75% off on Steam at this very moment and you should definitely play it.

Playing games from other regions (AKA software piracy)

What Sno said. I've played the Japanese Ouendan games with no problems on an American DS as well as 3DS. It's only when you want to play imported 3DS games that you're going to have problems. -

I'm the opposite. I love the "wah wah" because it's hilarious, but I hate that all the enemies pause to dance to it because it throws off my timing.

That is a sweet wizard.

The end-of-Kickstarter livestream was on March 21st and the homebarrel mod was uploaded March 25th. Nick must have watched the livestream, heard Sean's heartbreaking tale, and spent the next four days straight toiling away to make a new homebarrel for him. (Also, how has that mod existed for that long and nobody mentioned it until now?)

I, for one, use negative thinking all the time.

Idle Thumbs 86: Always Support the Danger Layer
shammack replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Sorry to be that guy, but your second point there probably merits a spoiler tag. -
I had only brought smoke bombs and a cardboard box into the level. I might have been better off with a noisemaker of some sort. The closest I ever got was by standing near the lever, throwing my darts at them to get their attention, then waiting for them to get near the lever and throwing a smoke bomb directly in front of it so they couldn't see me pull the lever. I managed to not kill one of them that way, but she still ended up seeing me and raising an alarm as the smoke cleared, and the other one still died anyway.

There was only one point (apart from the guys you have to kill to finish the level) where I couldn't figure out how to get through without killing anyone. That was in the last level, where there's a small room with two stalkers or whatever they call them (the ladies with the robot suits), and a lever on the ground that opens the door you need to go through, but it also causes darts to shoot out from the wall. It's easy to get through by just using the lever to make the darts kill them, but the room is so small that I couldn't find any way to get them out of harm's way so I could pull the lever.

Idle Thumbs 86: Always Support the Danger Layer

It's so damn trite and so transparently museum-bait! The rest of the list was fine, but that particular selection provokes from me a million barves. -
Bah, humbug.

Taken. Thanks!

I also have a Portal and a Cogs I can give away if anyone wants them. I didn't mention it because I assumed everyone else also has extra copies of those that they're trying to get rid of.

I played a Wii U (Nintendo Land and Mario) for the first time last night and now I want one. That said, it was a lot of fun in multiplayer, but most of my gaming time is spent in single-player, and from that perspective there's not a lot on it that interests me right now. I no longer have any doubt that I'll end up owning one eventually, though.

I tried to take the Introversion pack but it said it had already been claimed, so I took Majesty 2 instead.

I voted for Euro Truck Simulator 2; fuck all y'all.

I played a little bit of this today. I had a hard time getting it into a playable state... had to turn all the graphics settings way down or else I got a bunch of weird visual glitches and terrible frame rate. But once I did that, it seemed pretty charming. All I've really done so far is craft a few medicines and run around and get lost, and I'm not really sure what else there is to it (I hear there's a creature of some sort, but I haven't encountered it yet), but the exploration part is pretty satisfying. I really like the map system, and the world seems pretty large and detailed. It definitely has that sort of slightly clunky, "made by two dudes" feeling to it, but if you don't mind that, it's got some interesting ideas. I'm looking forward to playing more of it.

You're doing yourself a disservice if you kill dudes. When I first played the demo, I felt the way you describe and that led to me not buying the game, but then the other day I got it in a Steam sale and decided this time I'd ignore the tutorial and just commit to not killing dudes and staying undetected, and it led to me enjoying the game so much more. I then went back and replayed some of the levels to complete all the optional objectives, some of which require you to kill dudes. So since I was already forfeiting the bonus for not killing anyone, I figured I'd just kill anyone who got in the way, and that made the level seem really boring in comparison.

One of my favorite things about the show is how Walt likes to think of himself as a badass but in reality he's still always kind of a goober.

That's hilarious!

It's amusing at first, but it makes that route basically unplayable because you have no way of knowing whether it's safe to pass.
