The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 1: THE GREAT GATLING-GUNSBY
Patters replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
No, of course not, viewing a playthrough is covered through free speech. As a general rule, if the creators consider believe the material should be free, then I am cool with it being pirated, when they don't I am not. Once it is freely available in the public domain, then all is good. At this point we are quite lucky, with plenty of old games being updated and being sold through Digital distribution, such as GoG and Steam, also with the cases of the C&C games being released for free in original form. Companies have seen the light, they are no longer sitting on the source code, releasing it for younger gamers and older alike. I too hope for a SS2 re-release, Remo made that clear to me on the 'cast. Sorry about this. Abandonware is a term, which simply doesn't make sense to me philosophically or logically; where something like Freeware does. Yeah I'm done too. -
So a few photos: This is what lag does in Forza My Dave Mirra Impreza: It handles utterly fantastically, possibly my best build in the game, the design is my own, bar a few bought vinyl groups.

It's still a method of piracy, do you pirate a film if it is unavailable on DVD, do you obtain a book which is out of print, for me the answer is no. I am however not entirely against piracy of out of print games, however I am against the term abandonware, calling it such implies that no one owns the rights to it, which in the majority of cases is false. The game could be re-released tomorrow, would it have been ever been considered abandonware then? No. -

Abandonware is a lie, to make piracy seem acceptable. -
I was wondering if with the imminent cancellation of Original Xbox live any thumbs would want to play a few of the available games. I personally would like to play through Chaos Theory's co-op again. Any Ideas/offers?

I have always been tempted to play a Fire Emblem just every time I have been about to take the plunge something cooler has come out, notably Golden Sun. I am likely to get a new DS with Golden Sun DS, Pokemon Heart Gold and possibly some others. Nah, Roy is where it's at.

Really? it works perfectly on my vista laptop, although it is 32bit. Also fuck yes for this announcement:tup:.

Either Sonic the Hedgehog on the Mega Drive II or PacMan Deluxe on my Dad's Amiga A500.

Simply taking it to shows such as E3, Gamescom, etc costs a decent amount of money, as does simple advertising such as banner ads, I'm sure there are TV spots. When CoD MW2 had a marketing budget of $150 million, I can easily see Heavy Rain's being in excess of $5 million. I compared it to District 9, which while a Motion picture, Heavy Rain is being pitched as an interactive Movie. It would have felt a disservice to developers to consider it as anything else. I feel it is a fair justification to make, considering it is essentially 'a Choose Your Own Adventure book' compared to a full on table top RPG. Firstly I would like to point out I have played heavy rain, not much, but enough. I love games similar to Blade Runner, however Heavy Rain has a completely different feel to them. It feels more like 8mm compared to the Silence of the Lambs. However there is one aspect of Heavy Rain I do greatly respect, which is the lack of a fail state, just a different ending. It's not the section of Fahrenheit he appeared in, every interview I have read with him is cringe worthy to read, firstly he claims that Heavy rain is breaking the mould, which I cannot see how doing the same thing Shenmue did a decade ago, but moving the instructions around the screen is an innovation. He clearly exhibits a Molyneuxesque personality with a weaker sense of wonder and added arrogance. I feel I am allowed to be vocally annoyed with him for one simple thing: SourceIf he is going to put it like that, of course I am going to have vocal and generally negative opinions of the man.

The 2 shenmue games were believed to cost $70 million between them, maybe I am just bitter as they are both games I consider far superior to any other game, or interactive movie completely bombed, therefore is highly unlikely to be finished.

A new multiplayer game (for the times when left for lobby gets too much)

I'm going with tup -
I'm assuming that the marketing was separate, if so that is $5.3 million less than that of District 9, I expect the marketing would have been higher than that margin. I know which I consider worth the budget, it sure isn't Heavy Rain.

You're welcome, it's a carbon copy of mine with a different paint job . Some fantastic races today, especially after I sorted my connection.

PC version still works.

I'd like to put forward the following races officially: Impreza Vs Evo ( either a Subaru Impreza or a Mitsubishi Evo in C class) Classic Muscle (a classic muscle car pre 1970 in D class) Wrestle and I have been doing these unofficially but as they are relatively simple and cheap to set up I think they would be good to add to the official list. A friend may be joining in tonight, if not next week. EDIT: D class for the Classic muscle.

Dimps worked on Street Fighter IV, I think. It will be interesting to see the result.

Sorry, we kept it relatively, if not entirely, spoiler free. I knew Wrestle hadn't finished, so I didn't want to spoil anything. Fantastic game, motorbikes and explosions always go together! -
