  1. How would you survive the zombie apocalypse?

I have a few possible plans: if I am in a city or town, I'm heading to a hardware store ala Homebase or B&Q, preferably one with a nursery (plants). With this We (a group) would have adequate supplies to re-enforce the buildings doors, also to build weapons and for food. Failing that being in the country side, where I have spent most of my life, I'd head to a nearby farm, for weaponry as well as being an isolated area.

Other than the Soundtrack itself being fantastic, the effects of the weapons, particularly those which are melee are fantastic. though as it is a co op game you are unlikely to notice this unless you play it with friends who haven't got mics or solo. It all just clicks brilliantly, I played my first campaign with Nick and Chris Faylor (of Shacknews) neither of whom were using mics, so neither did I, which is when I realised the design was so good.

Well with a music game, all that can be done is mute certain tracks. Music is a particularly important aspect of a game, which coupled with sound effects create the overall audio experience. This is something Bad Company 2 does fantastically, creating a fantastically immersive game particularly in multiplayer. If a gun in a shooter doesn't sound good, you will be less inclined to use it. Come to think of it, L4D2 should have won the best audio, though I haven't played Uncharted 2, I very much doubt it tops L4D2. Though I consider the majority of awards a joke, including the Oscars to an extent.

Huh, really? Something like Chaos Theory or the majority of Lucas arts adventures use music better than any rhythm game.
  5. Grand Thumb Auto 54: LIVe and Let Die

I was planning to go out, but a nasty cough is likely to prevent that. So I'm likely to be there.
  6. 2010 BAFTA Games

I find it kind of weird that Fifa beat Forza as the best sports game. Even more so with the lack of a racing category.
  7. Mini Thumbs meet?

Maybe both? I'm assuming a weekend would be best for everyone?
  8. Perfect Dark (XBLA)

OK let's try this again. Is Monday (22nd) good for people, maybe at 2100GMT which would be 1700ET I think. I believe Miffy is available, and it seems that Squid division is likely to be also.
  9. Best one I have seen was this: The light pulses green and blue.
  10. Perfect Dark (XBLA)

Anyone up for a game this evening, starting at 9 or 10 GMT (1 or 2 hours)?
  11. You must know the drill by now? 2100 GMT Tuesday.
  12. Mass Effect 2

Yeah, the same can be said of me and Forza 3, at least thus far.
  13. La Celle Splintereux: Conviçion

I like it, despite the entirely different gameplay style to the original 5 games. As someone who is one of the biggest Splinter Cell fans I am a little disappointed that it isn't Chaos Theory 3. Though this game is looking to replace the original's position in my view of the Series: 5: Double Agent (PS3, 360, PC): Generally this game was a complete mess, it didn't have that splinter cell feeling. Made by Ubisoft Shanghai. 3 (Joint): Pandora Tomorrow: Another mess by Ubi Shanghai, though this time there were some interesting ideas particularly in movement mechanics. 3 (Joint): Double Agent (Xbox, PS2, etc): The previous generations version of DA. Designed by Montreal and running on the Chaos theory engine. Unfortunately it was clear that it was rushed. 2: Splinter Cell: Need I say anything? It was different to any other stealth game preceding it. 1: Chaos Theory: A nearly perfect game, a fantastically paced and atmospheric game. Incredibly tight Co-op and a superb soundtrack by Amon Tobin.
  14. Mass Effect 2

    He's kidding.
  15. Perfect Dark XBLA

    Tomorrow never dies.
  16. Perfect Dark (XBLA)

I don't think a weekly thing is a good idea, a more spontaneous schedule, as is used for DoW II would be good. I'm up for some games on Saturday, if anyone else is interested.
  17. Moon

Finally got around to watch Moon, I wasn't disappointed.
  18. Just Cause 2

It does, buried under a few pages though: http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7065

  20. Street Fighter IV

Double post faux pas.. I have upgraded my stick from this: To this: Full album of images of the entire upgrade here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/patrickjcarter/sets/72157623627194012/
  21. Perfect Dark XBLA

It's only 800 microsoft points, easily worth that, particularly as the aforementioned Banjo ports are 1200.
  22. PC Tech questions

Go for the Power supply armchair suggested, The ModXstream is good and allows for upgrades to graphics to be done without too much hassle. It costs more but is worth it. As for good RTS's DoW II, Empire Total War, Civ 4, Company of Heroes are all good.
  23. Perfect Dark XBLA

Yeah, it really brings back memories. This is probably the best remake I have played in a long time, in fact all of the Rare ports are damn good. It's clearly done by fans of the game, admittedly I had never played PD before today, though the amount of Goldeneye I have played more than makes up for that. The retextures of the game have done a world of good.
  24. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

Rad, DICE have done a really good job on this game then.
  25. Perfect Dark XBLA

Hey your friend wanted to play Deathmatch only. I offered alternative game types but they were always put down. I really wish they had all of the Goldeneye maps, I would have loved to play a snipers match in Siberia. It feels like playing Goldeneye again, which ain't a bad thing.
