  1. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

So I have heart gold, yet no working DS. Second hand DSi ordered which hopefully will arrive tomorrow, did I buy a DSi for Gold alone, kind of, Goldensun DS should be out this year also.
  2. Thumb Fortress 2

Certainly, of course there are high level players, though with TF2 almost anyone can jump in and enjoy it. Sorting a league at this point would be a little foolish, we have about 6 experienced TF2 players. Friendly Thumbs games would be an ideal way to introduce those who are less experienced to the game and let them try stuff out. Maybe then consider moving onto forming a league or having friendly games with other gaming communities or something?
  3. Thumb Fortress 2

It seems so. 12 seems right to me, you can cover all classes with overflow of 3 being able to play other classes to support. The thing with TF2 is that certain classes are almost unplayable in smaller games such as the spy and the medic. With TF2 finding the classes you are comfortable playing is half of the challenge. If you like blowing stuff up Demo-man and Soldier are a great start, Stabbing people in the back playing Spy maybe ideal.
  4. Thumb Fortress 2

Dependant on the Server, I'd consider 12 a good number which is the amount on each side for the TTG Vs BioBlizz.
  5. Thumb Fortress 2

If we managed to do a game I could macro a key to type and send wizard, when I go back to Uni! We played a little today, it's always a little weird playing 3vs3 but with friends it's pretty cool.
  6. Thumb Fortress 2

An Idle Thumbs vs Telltale game would be rad.
  7. Thumb Fortress 2

    Action occasionally does I believe.
  8. Thumb Fortress 2

Nope, unfortunately not, I believe that was during PAX east. Ping in TF2 is really good, I get 180 for the California based Telltale server, which considering the distance ain't bad. On the downside I am at home which means I only have my laptop, which can play TF2 isn't as great as my rig...
  9. Mice for gamers.

Razer recently started supporting macs properly: for which I would recommend the Deathadder
  10. http://thumbs.spreadshirt.co.uk/ The UK gets more colours! I might get Nachimir's delight or maybe the black one.
  11. Just Cause 2

OK so I like making things go boom (my new name for Just Cause 2) is utterly brilliant, it satisfies the itch of GTA SA. Also I am apparently awesome at rolling cars into bodies of water.
  12. Tax Breaks for UK Games Industry

I wouldn't put so much into that belief. Overall profitability means fuck all, that's like saying "Oh Toyota are making profits enough to cover the entire car manufacturing business", whilst other equally valid manufacturers are struggling and even going under. Just because an industry has their Call of duties, Avatars etc it doesn't mean other people in the same medium won't need tax breaks. None of those business models continue to expand as much as games development. In the case of the local locksmith, I believe they follow a small businesses tax opposed to that of a larger business. My view is that with the current state of employment this is a slight step forward, it may not help those unqualified to make games, though it will help those finishing University this coming June.
  13. Just Cause 2

I want to reiterate everything Miffy said, and add this game is a whole lot of fun. Anyone else having framerate dropping to 30 from 60 at weird times, I'm constantly at 60 when the whole world is exploding and then drop to 30 when nothing is happening.
  14. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

FUCK IT. I'm buying this as soon as I get back home, even if I have to use my crappy DS original.
  15. Life

Yeah, no don't worry about that, most of what we play doesn't require skill to enjoy. GTA is easily the easiest to get into, we just blow stuff up. Trash talk happens, though in a fairly friendly way.
  16. Mice for gamers.

Fixed. Grados are a little out of my budget at this point, my dad has a pair of SR225i which are amazing.
  17. Mice for gamers.

The Keyboards are Rad, the headsets less so, yeah they look good. The sound quality is a little lacking. I'd generally suggest a pair of headphones (I use a pair of Sony MDR-V500 headphones) and a stand alone USB mic.
  18. Saving it for Saturday and my 3 to 4 hour train journey, perfect timing.
  19. Mini Thumbs meet?

Is the second weekend of April good for people? I would be more proactive organising this if I weren't ill. I should be able to organise it properly next week.
  20. Life

    He's nearly a doctor.
  21. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

OK so Pokemon Gold, the one I played when I was 11 years old. I'd consider it the best in the series, the additions made didn't saturated the purity that was Pokemon in 2001. I played the Red line of games: Red-Gold-Ruby, then didn't play either of the latest games. I fully intend to play Heart Gold, due to the fantastic time I had with the original version.
  22. Apparently not, I just checked my uni's site. Though when applying to uni and until about half way through 1st year I wanted to work in finance. I had no idea how to get into computer science as my school were pretty bad at pushing us to University, in a way I think I was pushed by them to do a maths degree, which is all good, instead of something I am more interested in, the School itself seems more concerned with grades (particularly in mathematics), admittedly the A level Maths and Further Maths we did gave fantastic results. Though I don't know if the CS school here would accept me either way, I got AACC for my A levels and the standard requirement is AAB. Done complaining.
  23. Blur Multiplayer Beta

I got an email from Zavvi (who I recently preordered Blazblue from) with a code, I'm gonna try it out though I prefer the premise of Split//Second.
  24. Well yeah, I will have hopefully done Scientific Computing which involves C++, as linked in my previous post. Obviously I don't intend to enter, or even think it's possible to start in AI. I still have over 2 years of my degree left, as far as I have seen both graduate programs and intern programs are fairly typical of Lionhead's. I haven't put all my eggs in one basket though, I just don't want to be a banker or an accountant. EDIT: My main reason for wanting to do AI eventually is from a Bungie podcast, which is absolutely fascinating to me, which specified that a strong comprehension of maths is required.
  25. As a few of you know, I want to work in the games industry once I have finished Uni. Currently I am in my second year of my Maths degree, and I am planning to teach myself C++ over summer and then likely take Scientific computing in my 3rd or 4th year. Am I on the ideal degree for my possible career path; probably not. Though I have not got the A levels for a CS Degree, as my 6th form didn't offer Computing as an A Level. Also from what I have heard maths is incredibly important in the field I am the most interested in: AI. I am doing logic courses which also seems to be quite appropriate also.
