  1. PC purchasing advice

My latest drivers didn't have that.
  2. PC purchasing advice

That processor is essentially 2 generations old, on your budget I'd go with an i5 or a Phenom II (quad core in both cases). Are you comfortable building yourself? If you are unsure This video shows how simple it is. The GPU in your machine wasn't great either. The GPU and CPU heirarchy charts are very useful, when understanding components.
  3. PC purchasing advice

Don't get that processor. Do you have a rough budget? Laptop/desktop?
  4. Halo Reach

Sure thing. It can't hurt to add more people to the list of people I play Halo with. There are 3 ways to play: Co-op, Fire-fight and competitive, which are 4/4/16 player game modes. I'm going to be making maps in Forgeworld, which along with community made content will keep us happy for a long time.
  5. Starcraft II

I've been playing with a few of the European Thumbs ('Blix, Pirate, Pocket), I'm not great, but I'm getting better (I think). I might switch from Terran to Protoss to change it up a bit.
  6. Halo Reach

ODST is worth getting for the complete Halo 3 multiplayer experience. Firefight is a blast, though I can't completely recommend it with Reach due in 3 days.
  7. Monitor advice

So seeing as I'm moving back to Manchester in a few weeks, I'm going to need a monitor for my PC and 360. So I'll likely use DVI and HDMI. Any size is OK. I don't want to spend over £150. I'd prefer a widescreen aspect ratio, though that apparently is fine now. Which brands have you guys had decent monitors with and which should I avoid?
  8. Monitor advice

http://techreport.com/discussions.x/19612 Seems to be a good bet. The 21.5inch one in particular.

  11. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Both Anthrax and Maiden have done it. But Portnoy is so integrated into DT that I cannot imagine them without him, in the same way I couldn't see Maiden without Steve Harris or Anthrax without Scott Ian and Charlie Benante. The last DT album wasn't good, I can see exactly where Portnoy is coming from, the band themselves are going too fast to keep pumping out great material. I cannot see DT continuing to bring great live shows also, from what I understood Portnoy brought in all of the cool supports (Scale the Summit, Between the Buried and Me, BigElf, etc).
  12. Mass Effect 2

It's definitely a hybrid, with an emphasis on interactions and combat. DoW II is as much of an RPG as ME2, with progression and equipment.
  13. Idle Thumbs PAX Panel Live Stream?

    Fairly sure that's a paradox.
  14. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Holy Fuck. Mike Portnoy left Dream Theater. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=145749
  15. Formula Thumb

Yep, if any of the newer members want in add either Wrestle or me on XBL and join in on the fun.
  16. Call of Duty: Black Ops

They didn't want to make CoD 2 a WW2 game, they wanted to ditch the CoD title with MW2.
  17. Grand Thumb Auto: Shakespeare's Revenge?

    That's not 8pm.
  18. Video games

Firstly, video games is 2 words. Secondly, no, it happens to everyone. I did very little gaming between 2005 and 2007. Age has very little to do with it, I know gamers in their 50's (My uncle for instance) and I'm sure that others do. As with all hobbies you can over saturate yourself with, I did that with reading during my hiatus. Take a break by all means, come back when you're ready. Try something new while during that time: Board games, juggling, learn an instrument, something. Distance will make the heart grow fonder.
  19. Monitor advice

Or, you know my 360, I have no qualms with any display ports, but I really just want to stick with HDMI for my 360, it just works.
  20. Monitor advice

    No HDMI.
  21. Monitor advice

Yeah, Dell are too expensive for me, I've been thinking LG (my dad has been using a Flatron for over 6 years. 22" is ideal, I am thinking of going for this.
  22. Eurogamer Expo '10

They aren't a partner, thy have a stall though.
  23. Grand Thumb Auto: Shakespeare's Revenge?

I'm around, I can start earlier too.
  24. Starcraft 2
