  1. I know, typing 'hot scoops' into google has now become my favorite thing to do with google since typing 'why is there'. Ahhh, good times. And Chris, I hope you didn't take any offense to my inquiry about the Yes thing, I enjoy the occasional nugget or reference in a song and always see it as homage. I thought maybe it meant you were a fan. Maybe you were just answering me with the name of your Yes cover band, which is Yep!
  2. So this other game came out on January 26th. It also has a sex scene and some outer space missions. Perhaps it wasn't as highly anticipated as another game that is all about outer space and has alien sex, but I think that it holds its own as far as fun games go. Anyway, I've beaten No More Heroes 2 already and I wanted to spark a little discussion here with anyone else who's played the game. Lets talk about Rank matches and spoilers and all that junk, please. I have a few questions for others who have completed the game as well.
  3. Downward F@#$ing Dog! (No More Heroes 2 Discussion)

So. The only place in the world that has a decent discussion about this game is the gaf, and I can't join in. (I've used the frusty smiley a bit much lately, so I'm going to forgo using it at this obvious point in time.) Then I come over here and I guess the game just flew under everyone's radar. Its cool, its cool, I'm not gonna twist any arms or anything, I just need to talk about some really interesting spoileresque things that some people haven't noticed yet, not even over on the gaf. So, with some degree of guilt, I bump this thread. Hopefully these two juicy nuggets will be eye opening to anyone who's played through the game that it justifies my poor forum etiquette. Mild spoiler bit / not very exciting thing Huge Spoiler / Crazy Speculation theory type thing... Alright, got that stuff off my chest, I guess I'll move onto other things until someone wants to talk about this game.
  4. Mice for gamers.

Yeah, unfortunately, logitech software doesn't fare much better. Even with setPoint I'm still getting a terrible loss of middle click functionality, so intellipoint it is.
  5. Portal ARG?

Did anyone notice there was a new update yesterday? I mean, there's something after the frequency regulation update. I'm at work now so my ability to look into it further is spotty.
  6. Mice for gamers.

Thanks for the help. I'm trying out set point now. Yeah, Intellipoint is the software for Microsoft Mice. Its got a ton of interesting options for button customization, but since this mouse says logitech on it, I can't get it to do anything with that fourth button. Also, since it is not my money, I think I'm going to be petitioning for that there vertical mouse, that thing looks comfy to me. I don't know if I'd be able to play games with it, but for work it might be great.
  7. Hey, so, the awesome new theme song sounds like Roundabout by Yes. Coincidence?
  8. Mice for gamers.

Hey, I'm back. I'm using this Logitech Click! Optical Mouse wheel mouse that has a fourth button. Can any of you chaps point me towards a good universal mouse driver that will enable this fourth button? I have intellipoint, but that software treats it like a 3 button scroll mouse no matter what I try to do with it. I actually went through the huge headache of installing the logitech drivers. It took me two days to get it right. I'd finish the install and then the installer would ask for the windows install cd because it couldn't find the mouhid.sys file or something like that. Turns out the installer was expecting a folder in the file path to be all caps, but got confused when it was all lower case. Got that sorted and pointed it towards the appropriate files then 10 minutes later I uninstalled that garbage. The driver offered VERY limited customization of the fourth button. The only one that was remotely useful was a proprietary task switcher that felt totally out of place. What drove me nuts, absolutely NUTS, was that the driver completely molested my middle click behavior. On the web I middle click links to open them in a new tab. What do I get when middle clicking links, a big sloppy autoscroll icon. What's worse, that stupid thing showed up everywhere, even when there was no possible context for scrolling. I could no longer pan around my drawings in autocad or pan my view in blender! :frusty: So, anyway, I hereby withdraw my recommendation for this mouse and am hijacking this thread in search of good mouse drivers as well. I do still like the feel and weight of the thing by the way, but I wouldn't wish the above experience on anyone.
  9. General Video Game Deals Thread

So there's a rumor on GAF about a Black Wii Sports Resort bundle for $199. Sounds nice. I wonder how hard it would be to strip down two Wiis and swap their housings so that I may have a Black Wii with all of my VC/Wiiware games intact. With my luck, I would go through the whole process and end up putting the guts back into their original cases.

Wow, my head is spinning from this. I have so many ideas in my head from my drive home after a wicked differential equations test. Anyway, rewind to earlier today when this was developing, with the images popping up in various places. A fellow mac user asked: "Why would they do this?" Well, I have a few ideas about that now and some are weird so stick with me. -the mac is like a cross between a console and a PC Like a console, its a very narrow band of target hardware. OK, close, but a console is nice because everyone is using the same exact hardware, move up to the hardware variance on the mac platform, and you have just a handful of machine types, contrast that with the hardware/driver variety in the PC market and you see what I'm getting at. I say its like a PC, because at its heart, the mac is now the exact same architecture. There has to be some benefit to that when compared to PS3 and Xbox which are variants of the IBM power architecture. -Mac users aren't shy about spending money I hate the whole 'macs are expensive' debate, but I'll play devil's advocate for a moment. OK, macs cost more, so what? Well there's a whole untapped market that doesn't have entitlement issues about intellectual property and gladly pays for good stuff. -The market is there and there's no competition But its such a small market... or is it? Of all the computers in the world, how many are at home and used for entertainment? A lot, I'm sure, but how many are also used at work, in the office, at a point of sale, as servers? The mac is primarily a consumer device now. I don't know for sure, but I think VALVe knows how many mac users are playing their games right now. I'm pretty sure they can figure out who we are whether we're using crossover or booting into windows, after all, we all have a very similar hardware profile. There certianly seem to be a lot of us on SPUF. So, as that one weird dude that has a Wii and a Mac, I'm about to asplode with all of the news as of late. Between the Nintendo Media Summit, then the Portal ARG craziness, a cool TF2 blog post yesterday that got me back into the game for 1.6 hours last night, and now this craziness today... well, just I don't know what it is with valve, they seem to want happy customers much more than they want our money, and for that I love them and just want to give them more money. Maybe I'll finally get to see what all this half-life nonsense is about.
  11. Wizaaaaaards!!

What's amazing is, if you remove the wizard hat, this photo remains incredibly disturbing. Jogging stroller with no infant and heavens, why is he counting so much cash?
  12. Sonic 4

I watched this earlier today. The skit is freekin' awesome. It is almost eclipsed by the hilarious comments wherein the internet shows its disappointingly low average IQ level.
  13. Another Mario Thing

Are you talking about the level where doing a spin jump makes the platforms appear/disappear?
  14. Another Mario Thing

Yeah, you're definitely right. I don't understand why that first shot looks so weird to me though. I just played through the game last week. Maybe the still at that moment is drawing my attention to the fact that the hand doing the punching is way bigger than the other. Here's another song hidden by speed: Peach's Final Smash in Brawl is a sped up version of the sky world theme in Super Mario Bros. 3

  16. This thought will keep me up all night....

The sewers in Santa Destroy are full of overwritten save files, so there you go. Oh, and I just remembered, there is a heck of a lot of potty material in Conker's Bad Fur Day, I imagine that's all real poo in that game.
  17. Another Mario Thing

I always knew this too. One thing though, can we all agree that this image is manipulated? I'm not cheating by looking at reference images, I clearly remember that Mario's hand does not reach out above his hat. His hand has been stretched vertically in this image. Right? The image just looks off. Also, of note, my sister used to think that the fireballs came out of his nose. Like he was putting his hand up to plug one nostril and shooting a fireball out the other. Try unseeing that next time you play.
  18. Nintendo Media Summit

Galaxy 2 was under my radar and I'm really liking what I'm seeing and hearing about it. The Other M gameplay details also sound neat, no word on a name change yet. DOH!
  19. Hey Jake, Is there any way that I can watch some of your inter-developer TF2 matches on SourceTV. Maybe you could schedule some of them on the steam group. I would spectate you and say: "I'm watching Video Games play video games!"
  20. Recently completed video games

My father-in-law has the first game and I've been coaxing him into getting the sequel. Its a shame really, he seems to have been put off of the first one due to the platforming, which he'd have me do if I was over. I'll use your experiences to regroup my attack plan. He's playing Wolfenstein for Pete's sake. Oh, hi there topic. I beat No More Heroes 2, twice. That game makes me all happy inside. I know you can't beat Team Fortress 2, but I think I'm finished with it. For now anyway. I played through one world of New (I like to call it Old School) Super Mario Bros. Wii and shelved it in anticipation of actually being able to play it with my wife. That led me to beating Super Mario Bros. Still got it.
  21. Mice for gamers.

I use a plain jane corded logitech at home and I just swiped one that looks exactly the same from a guy who quit at work. Its a blue one with a fourth button between the left and right buttons slightly back towards the hand. The reason I mention it is because I thought it was identical to the one I already have, but apparently this is the :buyme:Click! version of the mouse, and it has a very rigid snap to the scroll wheel. Personally, I hate it for zooming in and out of my drawings, but I could see how it might prevent me from whipping out a wrench when I meant to switch to my pistol. Its a light and ergonomic mouse for not a lot of money. I don't know anything about resolution or what have you, to me that stuff is like gold plated speaker wires.
  22. Gaming virginity loss.

:clap:Oh sweet. There goes another 800 wii points. I wonder how much stuff is on there that I really want and I don't know about?
  23. Gaming virginity loss.

I know of that game, what was it on? SNES? I'm now sorry I missed that, sounds really cool.
  24. Gaming virginity loss.

Ha, I think everyone has this anecdote, and there's nothing wrong with that, but has anyone else done the opposite? I remember going to a friend's house once when I was young and his dad came to play Duck Hunt with us. We ended up pulling the console out from underneath the TV and rearranging the room to get back as far as possible and then taking turns to see who could get the furthest on clay pigeons. Awesome memories of a great man that died way too young. Also, wtf is that pacman outline on the left side of that screenshot?
  25. Gaming virginity loss.

Mine was Snafu on Ye Olde Intellivision. Thinking back, its funny how I love games where you end up beating the crap out of the person next to you. This game started that.
