  1. Plug your shit

Yes, the categories and interface needs updating, it's the same structure as when there were only two categories, I've added lots of new data since then and it's become a mess. I will fix that, probably structured tag selection. And yes, having it display one name at a time is by design. The fade is just for show as I'm trying to giving it a slot machine type feel. I just as easily make 100 or 1000 names at a time (I do during development) but I feel it detracts from the experience and somewhat 'devalues' each name. Maybe 5-10 names at a time will be better for the end user. edit: Thanks for you feedback SuperBiasedMan
  2. Plug your shit

A while back I wanted to do something ASP.NET to freshen up my web dev 'skills'. This was around the time I was deep in to XCOM: Enemy Within and I had run out of name ideas for my dudes (you need a lot of dudes) so I made a random name generator site, even bought a domain for it check it out: http://www.namingen.com Any feedback appreciated, more name generation types, bugs, usability, issues, features etc.

Dmc: Devil May Cry, it was great. Lots of moves, combos, enemies and bosses. Varied levels and nice art and music. Recommended'd'd''d.
  4. Morrowind

This was me too. I had dabbled with mods before and never gotten anywhere with the game. So recently I ditched the mods (apart from view distance, vanilla view distance is torture) and plunged into the game. I didn't do many sidequests, the main quest was quite enough to deal with and it took me more than 50 hours to beat it. Morrowind does not give a shit, you need to dive into the text (there is a lot) just to be able to finish the game and doing so you can't help but to be sucked into the world even more. It certainly does things different than today's games, was very interesting playing it through so long after release.
  5. Spoilers: Henry finds a nearby watchtower only to find another Henry there. He must then find Delilah without her knowing that he knows and after an ambiguous conclusion the player must determine what is real.
  6. Tone Control: Neil Druckmann

FUUUU saw this too late. I did enjoy Gone Home but knowing the ending did take away from the experience.
  7. COH2

I will get it for the campaign, first one was awesome. The multiplayer in 2 is sweet, I'm in the beta and it's similar to COH1 which was pretty good, however I'll probably skip the multi this time round, I like to know what I'm doing and I really don't have time to get to grips with another competitive RTS, I've picked my poison (SC2).

Just finished Shadows of the Damned, it was awesome, characters with humor(!), good weapons and combat, lovely designs and good pacing.

It's a different team doing Thief but Eidos Montreal was very happy with how Deus Ex turned out and they do seem to want to repeat their success, definitely a plus that Eidos Montreal the developer. Put me down for cautiously optimistic.
  10. Flashback

The old one is not on Steam or GOG that I could see, any sensible way to get it up and running today? Anyone played it recently? Does it still hold up?

Hearing Ludwig's impressions on the Joystiq podcast from having seen it/played it was encouraging, they're doing a lot of things right for sure, still a lot of things left uncertain. I can roll with some changes and rebooting but I'm concerned about it being targeted for the mainstream market and overly streamlining it with button prompts, quest markers, bullet time etc. I'm a big fan of the original games.

Dead Space 2, that was a fun game, loved the environments and the combat. Was scared the whole time, the worst part was actually 3-4 corridors and rooms in a row... with no monsters. I navigated those one inch at a time, always looking back, always expecting... but nothing came.
  13. iPad gaming

I've been playing a lot of Civ Rev which just came out with a multiplayer patch, also a little bit of Ghost Trick which seems unusual and pretty cool. Side note, what's the best way to browse this forum on an iPad, I'm just using the browser, is there a mobile view I can switch to? Or an app I could use maybe?
  14. Have you ever fainted?

During a bad flu when I was a teenager, I woke up and went to the bathroom and when I got out I collapsed on the floor. I remember it feeling rather pleasant.
  15. Other podcasts

He's a laid back kind of guy, which really does mix well when Garnett Lee is conducting affairs. Brendon has been on Idle Thumbs as well hasn't he? Or was it TMA... or both? Loved those casts.
  16. Other podcasts

Brad's cool, I identify most with him since he's mainly from a PC background, played the same games I back in the day, is big into StarCraft 2 and I later found out he also hangs out on the shacknews chatty where I've been posting for 17 years now (fuuuu)
  17. I'm still getting used to new episodes each week, so awesome. I had probably listened to the old archives 3 times over by the time the cast started back up.
  18. As for branching storylines and content I'll never see, I got the feeling there were 3-4 times more content in Alpha Protocol than what I actually played. It's unrealistic that that is the case but I got the feeling so well done Obsidian for making me think that.

Vanquish. Surprisingly fun, on paper it's cover shooter but they manage to rise above it somehow, probably becase it's made in Japan. Balls out action the whole time, never lets up, crazy wtf lol story and characters, huge bosses, mechs, giant robots and the game looks rather nice too. Fun weapons and interesting upgrade mechanics for them.
  20. Was it this episode or previous where Remo talked about the bleak future megacities? I'm surprised he didn't mention Steve Gaynor's tumblr which I find very reminiscent of just that: http://rekall.tumblr.com/ Some awesome imagery in there, I love it.
  21. XCOM Enemy Unknown

I'm willing to give the new mechanics a chance with the full game, the demo is very limited. It has few abilities to choose from and the missions are guided and simple. I've played the demo twice through and I really liked the flow of the missions, mouse navigation and view control and having hotkeys for your actions is a god send. I've read people are having performance issues and mouse lag but I didn't get that. One issue I found funny with the voice acting... isn't Dr. Vahlen supposed to be German? I thought her accent sounded German anyways but when she actually speaks German in the tutorial mission, you hear the words are supposed to be German but the voice actor obviously has never spoken a word of German in her life and all I could think was BONGIORNO.
  22. Planetary Annihilation

    Galactic War! I'll take it!
  23. Starcraft 2

Ah I probably had rainwave running (rainwave.cc) I've been listening to it for weeks. I'm actually playing Chrono Trigger now for the first time. Playing on iOS and just started the end boss fight against Lavos. No idea whether my dudes are good enough to finish it though. As for my opening I've been watching Filters tutorials and been through his opening many times so I'm pretty good up until the 10th minute, then I need start macroing and making decisions and it all comes crashing down, I lost a game the other day where I had 18k minerals at one point edit: If you would have finished watching the first game you would have seen some conveniently prophetic rage from my opponent, here is a link with a time marker to said rage: http://www.twitch.tv/donktv/b/329558547?t=20m
  24. Starcraft 2

You watched one of my videos Which one? How do you like my bronze skills, and what's CT music?
  25. Starcraft 2

Lots of HotS streams going on now, any make it in the beta? It's a whole new metagame and Blizzard will have its hands full gathering feedback and stats and then balancing. I hope the transition will be relatively smooth, how long usually from Blizzard betas to release?
