Another good cast. Listened at work, as usual. Though, I was a bit distracted and I don't think it fully sank in. I'll give it another listen tomorrow. Oh, and fantastic job on the dramatic reading. Great as always.

Idle Thumbs 15: I'll Kill the Last Alien
LetterT replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
It's good to hear another Mirror's Edge perspective. I'm still torn as to whether or not to get the game. I liked the 360 Demo, but it didn't really have much gunplay in it, which is why it was enjoyable. I may still pick it up just for the Time Trials mode with the new DLC maps. Those are looking pretty sweet. -
Interesting arguments. I guess it's time to pick up BioShock for PC and see what all the stink is about. And does it really surprise anyone that the game industry is going to take a game that may or may not have been setup for sequels, and string it out to milk every last dollar from it? Doesn't surprise me at all.

My brief console history: NES - 1986. XBox - 2004. 360 - 2007. Edit: Wii 2008. Sold 2008. Bought another one 2009. I missed a lot in the middle as you can see. What is in store next? I think that's a really tough question to answer and I would bet, for that reason, we see the next systems later, rather than sooner. With the current economy, I see Sony/MS/Nintendo being a little more cautious with their next releases. To make people spend money they really don't have, they are going to need to have amazing products. Maybe we'll see a move toward 3D, with the new monitors that are just now coming out (and I believe I saw an article on a stereoscopic TV - Samsung maybe? I'll have to dig the link back up). I can see games shifting to 3D if they can get the Tech cheap and accessible enough. There's really no reason to expect "Better Sound." I mean, seriously, do we really need more than 7.1 surround? Motion control? Maybe. Nintendo has it, and PS3 somewhat. . . but there's not many games, other than Boom Blox where you really feel the need for it. With most of them it comes across as a novelty. It wouldn't surprise me if Sony and MS tried to make their systems more "family friendly" like the Wii, while maintaining their online capabilities. We are going to end up with social networking consoles. Not game consoles. Might be time to shut down CS3 at home and dust off gaming keyboard.

I will look into those (I haven't really PC gamed since I got my 360 last year). It's not that her Lappy is a slouch... it's the integrated video card that kills game performance. I'm sure there's more games I can find that she can get into.

Idle Thumbs 14: Interface with the Animus
LetterT replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Fantastic cast of the pod. It really helps make my work days move more quickly... Though, my only issue with the latest cast was the result of all the retro game soundtrack talk. As I mentioned in my "Hi I'm New Post" I woke up this morning and spent the first half of the day with the Legend of Zelda Title Theme stuck in my head. And now, I feel an overwhelming urge to dig out my NES, replace the cartridge battery so I can save, and roll through Zelda. -
I'm pretty lucky in that. My wife loves certain games. She's almost made it through both KOTOR's, Spore, a few Sims. . . heck, she even played split screen Halo with me one time. I definitely got a keep-her. The trouble now, is finding quality titles for Wii. Her laptop won't keep up with modern games.

Hi. I'm new. The long quick intro: I don't generally consider myself "A Gamer," mostly because I don't have the time. The last "marathon" session I had was playing Mass Effect for 5 hours straight back in July. Sad? Yes, I know it is. What's even sadder is the fact I didn't even get off the Citadel. (I'm what you might call a Back to the Future Gamer. I play stuff that was cool 4 years ago.) I'm a full time Graphic Designer (another sadly: at a newspaper) and spend all day in front of a computer, so I generally like anything game/computer/electronic/technology related. I'm married and my wife and I just had our first kid in August. Luckily for me, my wife is into games as well. (We've played most of the way through Guild Wars, I had to buy her a Wii, and she's currently rolling through Boom Blox) A coworker of mine turned me onto the podcast back in December, and now that I'm current... I figured the IdleForums would be a good place to hang out whilst waiting for the next installment. . . Speaking of which, due to Episode 14, I woke up this morning and the Legend of Zelda opening theme has been stuck in my head all day. How that's related? I don't know, but I blame the Thumbs.
