  1. Chris had briefly mentioned some longing to play Castles again, so I just thought I'd mention that Castles 1+2, Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader are on GOG.com.
  2. I like this, but I think it would make more sense to have it stickied.
  3. Can I just share something with you...

    Nooooo! Not my couch!
  4. Chris! I thought we were promised a screenshot of Nick's Civ4 game.
  5. Just a bit of a side note on Civ3, in the Civ4 manual, there's a really good writeup from Soren Johnson on the development process and what changes they had to make. It's at the back in the afterwords section. And just a random thought, I've really only found that Civ3 is weak in the sense that you become aware of its holes after a couple hundred hours of playtime. Also (I am bad at organizing thoughts): Civ3 didn't have religion, so naturally vimes would not be able to experience a similar thing.
  6. Ha, you got me digging around to find some proof of that statement (not that I disputed it, but was curious to see what was out there) and I found this paper (abstract follows):http://www.colinfahey.com/tetris/tetris_theory_mit_lcs_tr_865_0210020.pdf Would be kind of hilarious to have someone find a Tetris algorithm and thus prove that P=NP.

  8. Tone Matrix

I'm inspired to keep this going.
  9. I played some pretty sweet PCAs in a video game yesterday.
  10. Henry Hatsworth and some other stuff

I think it's worth it for the 3 levels that I played. And I typically suck at these kinds of games, so maybe you'll get more out of it!
  11. Tone Matrix

"Random" scattering can make for some fun little things. Really, the best part about this thing is that you can make something cool in a few seconds and it'll sound decent. I was considering writing a little script to generate a set of random numbers to feed the Tone Matrix flash program and just see what I could get. 0,0,2304,32,32776,4,2,2,0,12,64,2048,0,65536,0,65536

Neat little sequencer. I've been having a lot of fun with it. Best part is, you can "copy and paste" your creations! Be advised that vBB tends to throw a default space after so many characters, so either separate them yourself at appropriate spots: 66050, 32770, 16642, 32774, 66564, 32772, 18956, 32776, 65544, 32792, 19088, 32784, 68272, 34144, 19104, 34080 Or, put them in a code block: 65538,32772,16392,8208,69666,34884,17544,8976,69666,34884,17544,8976,4128,2112,1152,768

I think what killed me (aside from dying all the time) was that it was reasonably challenging and then somewhere in World 3, I'm throwing out lives like they're candy. I think I blew through a dozen lives just trying to get through some levels. I basically gave up at that point. I mean, I could grind for power-ups (whatever that means! ), but I was just so deflated after throwing my head against the wall for hours.Still, it's a fun game and a great concept. I might go back to it sometime, but it's going to be awhile before those wounds heal.
  14. And yet it moves

I picked the full thing up off Greenhouse. It's pretty clever at times and the controls definitely become more manageable as you improve. In the middle of Chapter 2 (halfway through the game I guess) and I'm rotating the world as easily as I would jump from ledge A to ledge B. Just takes some getting used to.
  15. And yet it moves

Just played the demo and holy hell am I terrible at this. Good stuff, though.
