I was tempted to get Tropico, but I haven't paid more than about six pounds for a single Steam game for a long time now, I pretty much exclusively buy in the sales. Valve have almost conditioned me to not buy anything more expensive than a pint unless I'm feeling particularly extravagant. Edit: Pictorial evidence from first six months of use and last six months of use. Everything more expensive than £7.25 in the right hand image was multiple games.

Definitely not the technical aspects, but certainly the general premise and design goals. Crysis is much more of a shooter than Far Cry 2, and dynamic action mixed with in-depth, almost cerebral narrative experiences are kind of more PC's territory, you know? It's merely game of 2009 on 360, the less adept controls and lower fidelity - if not graphics per se - visual crispness, make me far more inclined to be very conservative and safe both in and out of combat, leading to less dynamism and awesome shit.

I thought Crysis suited consoles a bit more than Far Cry 2. Playing the latter on Xbox is still awesome, but less so.

I love the PC because you can play stuff that you'd never in a million years get on console. You know, thematically existentialist strategy titles by four Ukranian brothers and the like. The fact that anyone can release anything is awesome. The EGP is churning out so much fascinating stuff right now, for instance, and you just couldn't do that every single month on with Xbox indies. Seriously though, now I sometimes do look at the consoles and think "hm, dumb peasants the lot of them". All they want is in your face action games! And they can't even play them properly! Sort of joking. But I've never encountered any huge, game breaking bugs in my year and a half playing on the PC. I guess my "FUCK THE PC" moment was the breakage of my graphics card, or that time the other day when Steam refused to start for no reason in particular.

Maybe they should just call it Far Cry 3, it would sell better. Clint gets it back for the real Far Cry 3, by which I mean Far Cry 2 2, which would in turn be called Far Cry 4.

I'm kind of like you [copy] Tanukitsune [paste] in that I like things to be in whatever language they're meant to. That Scottish means that I'm lucky because I speak North American, therefore get pretty much every game they do. However, it annoys me when developers do it all the wrong way round. I turned on Italian with subtitles for Assassin's Creed 2. Then Desmond and whatever their names are started talking in it too. Whatever I chose would break the illusion at some point. I also got annoyed when I played Cryostasis and a load of Russian actors were playing English-speakers doing bad Russian accents. It was horrible and there was no option to change it. Later I found out that the non-English version, which I could have purchased months beforehand, actually had English subtitles. I remember wishing that Zeno Clash were in Spanish, but I don't think I ever checked if that option existed. I'm into diegetic stuff as it is, and language is possibly the one thing that annoys me most when it doesn't fit.

Are you playing on console or PC, Miffy? Around forums I frequent it seems a higher percentage of console players were put off by dodgy stuff, as well as the save system. Having a huge backlog of quick saves made every five fucking minutes really helps Damn, Far Cry 2. I can't wait to get my new graphics card, it's the first thing I'll play
