I'm not really sure what I mean. Probably a little faster, yes, and with more sweeping radial movements. Oh, and is the magnet always on?
  2. Orbitum

Great idea with the strategy splitting. I like where you're going in that video, especially if you can make the ball gravitate toward the magnet in a more loose/bouncy way. other than the visual style. I think I preferred the neon-y minimalism of the first video, even if it's almost as overplayed a theme as space now.

I checked out your other photos (if indeed they are yours) and I have to say, you're an amazing photographer. Glasgow has never looked anything like inviting before
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

Watched the second episode of Being Human tonight after seeing the pilot absolutely ages ago. Interesting enough premise and surprisingly considered characters, but the whole thing came across as terribly Hollyoaks in presentation and script quality. I'll keep watching it, it's true "disengage the brain" stuff.
  5. Resi 5

Everyone seems to be a tad let down by this or something, like they expected to be blown away [iGN.com] and just sort of weren't. However, I can see it garnering 9-10 across the board when the final product ending up more of an 8. I hope I'm wrong and that it really wows me, and I know the demo was a slightly older build, but from what I've seen somehow I don't think so.
  6. The last game you played

I just spent 40 minutes on Level Six of Hard :frusty: At least I finished it eventually, but one of the checkpoints took me 25 minutes T_T
  7. Holy fuck! (For Bill Hicks fans only...)

I've been a fan for about three years now, I absolutely worship that man. Anyone else read "The American Scream"? It's fairly well written, but the content is incredible, he was simply an amazing person. I read about Mary's interview a few days ago, thanks for the reminder. Here's the first part on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUbB_D-dYp8

The BBcode image tags didn't work, so here's a direct link. http://img60.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pigeondeathed5.png
  9. The last game you played

Mapping Markers are just the things you find that you can then fast travel to. If you make a mental note of where their HQ is then you can go back in a few hours and get some stuff for basically just playing the game.
  10. The last game you played

Quake Live. "Skill Matching" is useless when everyone else has pinpoint accuracy and faster reflexes than me anyway. Good fun if you find the right game though.
  11. Resident Evil 4 Wii

Most people seem to have preferred the Wii's aiming. Perhaps I was just used to the "normal" style.
  12. Resident Evil 4 Wii

There was a laser sight on every weapon and you controlled it with the left stick, pressing R1/R to enter aim mode and using X/A to shoot (which is why you can't move and aim at the same time). It worked very well actually, I prefer it to the Wii's system. I played the RE5 demo a while ago when it came out on the Japanese store, but I since haven't because they region locked it and my Gold ran out on my main account, but aiming is now on two sticks and it controls in a similar way to Gears of War. There is an option to use the RE4 controls, but it's a bad idea as the game's pace was clearly tailored for the new system when it was implemented and it's much harder to succeed if you plump for the old style. RE5 seems to be a weird sort of halfway house between a full on action game and the slower burning horror of number 4, and to be honest it's looking to be slightly awkward as an entry in the series because of that. It's fairly evident that Mikami wasn't involved.
  13. Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

That's good to hear, it deserves to do so much better.
  14. Resident Evil 4 Wii

I got sick of the voice as well when I had it on PS2. I completed it and both the side-missions, like, five times over and got the Chicago Typewriter and everything, but I couldn't bear beating the first third on the Wii for some reason...
  15. Killzone 2

Won't be as good as hyped (obviously), and I'll wait for a few more reviews before I believe the 95 average on Metacritic. Still getting it, Liberation on PSP was great, Killzone was alright, and this looks to surpass them both.
  16. "Chris Remo sucks cock" - Slashdot

Am I a bad person for browsing /b/ if the mood happens to take me? I wouldn't say so. It's the mindless, sexualised, violent corner of the internet where trolls go to troll trolls trolling trolls, and it's a fantastic place to just vent at some other freaks. It becomes a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy though, most anons will it to be as sick as possible so that's exactly what happens.
  17. Buying or building a PC

If you think you'd be able to knock one together yourself and you're not totally up to speed then this guide might help. I'm not an expert on PC specs, but to give you a bit of perspective my rig runs Fallout 3 at a consistent 50 FPS outside towns on high spec with good AA on my 1400x900 monitor. I get a solid 60 out of every game in The Orange Box on full, about 50ish from Crysis sitting between medium and high and 60 from Oblivion on full without any OCing. Perhaps you should consider getting two graphics cards if you want to run newer games on native res though. I'm repeating myself a little but here's my basic spec sheet: CPU: 2x 300GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB RAM: something 2GB HDD: Maxtor 500GB Motherboard: Foxconn P35AX-S Hope this helps in some way.
  18. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

DanJW: I think that the expansions are being considered non-canon, either that or they're just too minor to care about. I saw Alma several times in FEAR, but I don't think I got to the stage you're describing. JamesM: I just got a PC last year, a couple of my dad's friends threw me together a good rig for about £400. It's packing 2GB RAM and a GeForce 8800GT (among other quality bits and bobs), which all in all is great for gaming. I got it at parts value because they're hobbyists who do it as a favour for friends, so if you can find a few mates that are into that kind of thing I'd advise you to, I've basically got free 24 hour support if anything goes wrong.
  19. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

FEAR was alright, but I gave up from boredom about two thirds through, it was just too samey (to be fair I was playing it on 360). FEAR 2 is, by all counts, a lot better judging by the demo. The gunplay is meatier, the violence is intact, the AI is even better, it looks great and it actually gave me a decent scare at one point. I think I'll get it this year, I'm just a little concerned that the bombastic action sections won't sit particularly well with the flat out horror bits, it was even slightly jarring in the short time the demo took to complete.
  20. Orbitum

That game is pretty awful, yours looks much more ambitious artistically and mechanically already
  21. Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts

I love it, just playing around with the bits and bobs and throwing them together into a weird mess is great fun. That's usually how I make great vehicles, because I go on the test track, then add or remove parts as required.
  22. Another entertaining and insightful episode guys. Just a shame there was no mention of those in depth rebuttals to the stuff Chris said about Prince of Persia [Hint: I sent one in]
  23. Fallout 3

Haha, I'm so glad it is though. F5 and F9 have given me some excellent non-canon murder shots.
  24. Orbitum

The magnet power up looks really interesting, great concept. It seems like something you could expand on to be a full blown gameplay mechanic. I'd say impressive so far, look forward to the demo.
  25. Fallout 3

Yeah, you can just dump it on the floor if you want. You can do that with any box in the game, just like Oblivion, however if you put it in one that is marked with the sort of "Don't Steal" icon, when you retrieve the stuff it will count as stolen.
