It's hard to tell when people are trying to justify their pirating asses by avoiding the issue or simply want to go more in depth. Major corporations etc. are horrible, but to use a recent example, look at poor fucking Stardock. Small company, nice guys, don't believe in DRM; servers crippled due to overload of pirates. Besides, it shouldn't really matter what the perceived artistic quality of the film/music/game is, at the end of the day even the artists that resent their record labels or whatnot would prefer if you actually paid for the thing they created and didn't just steal it. Capitalism blows, but while we're stuck with it we need to have respect for the people slaving away and making the works that are put out there. It's all to easy to fall back on the "stick it to the man!" attitude, but that's totally ignoring the individual artists. Also, I like Shrek. At least the first one

The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

Hairdresser turns robber into sex-slave The story itself is even more awesome. -
It's called "The Pirate Bay". So no intent for users to illegally share copyrighted files, then?

I'm stuck between the two versions though. On the one hand, PC has mouse control, nice and easy for drawing the shapes, whereas the DualShock 3 will be far more suited to the platforming... If it has pad support on the PC I'll probably get that one, but I hate shitty dilemmas like this

"...and then it was fucking EVERYWHERE."

It still means they're at least a year off of fucking anything. I also can't believe its subtitle is Forever, laugh every time it's mentioned.

That's pretty poopy Scrobbs, I hope she gets better For me, I had a great trip to Glasgow and our new couches arrived today. Of the two they're replacing, one of them was older than me and the other was bought more than a decade ago, so I suppose we were due an upgrade Oh, and I got Uncharted, so have been playing that this morning and it's good fun. Got a bit of a cold and my History dissertation (not really a dissertation at only 4,000 words, but they call it that) to finish off and go through for Monday, but that's not really a big problem.

Ever since it was unveiled I've made the mistake of hyping the shit out of it. Need to stop doing that. Looks great though.

I'm starting to think I should get a DS Lite...

No, but the game's logic just starts to click into place more and more. I wanted to finish it today, so I used a video guide to get a couple of the pieces. Some of the puzzles are slightly convoluted, and a handful appear to be completely down to trial and error, but overall they strike a good balance of fiendishness and resolvability - enough that the "GOT IT!" moments make you feel like the biggest fucking genius in the world. I very much enjoyed it. The pretentiousness only makes it more endearing. Actually, I'm not sure if that's the word. They enhance the experience, but I never found it "cute" as such. In some respects it's the anti-Mario.

Sweet fucking game. I love the music. On to chapter five now I think.

Got this from Greenhouse last night. I, too, can now appreciate properly the artwork in lovely shiny HD because my TV is one of those shitty cheap ones that takes an HD signal but isn't actually quite high enough resolution. That was probably the main reason I held off for this. I don't think Impulse has any DRM at all, but the Greenhouse one just gave me an activation code, which I popped in at the start of the demo. Awesome game.

Can a video game journalist also be a video game critic?
gdf replied to Alex P's topic in Video Gaming
Good point though Rodi! -
Hmm, that sounds racist. I meant Hollywood in general. As opposed to the Japanese. I don't... Eh...
-
Why not get Team Ico to do it, half of them originated from the film industry. These stupid American cunts will just fuck it up.

Most of the time, they're both anyway. That's what I want to do It's definitely true to say that no other factors should be considered when assessing a game's merits, however knowledge of certain events could possibly be used to explain certain positives or negatives. Don't be less harsh on a shitty game because it had a turbulent development, but an awareness of the surrounding trouble would be useful to have. Hype and internet culture have spoiled reviews to an extent; Citizen Killzone is a prime example, perhaps the most severe yet. -
Plug it I shall. Just reading the founders' softographies. This made me lol: "Driver 3 (Sorry!) (PS2/Xbox) - Tools & Tech"

GOTY 2009.

Don't bother, the game suffers as a whole for the last ten minutes.
