  1. This 'blast busted so many 'bargos that it blew my balls off. Good shit, maybe you should try more frequent episodic micro-'blasting, because it's great to get a sweet new half hour of Idle Thumbs that I can munch on.
  2. the Universe and Everything

I think most people are agnostic to some degree. For all my militant atheist tendencies, I can't really say that I haven't got some degree of doubt either. It's all about application, though. I live my life on the assumption that there is no supreme being, not least one which is omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent. It's the same way that, as Nachimir says, we have "faith" in various aspects of everyday existence, though I'd argue that religion is a different kind of faith in that it barely qualifies as empirical or rationally gained at all. I have faith that when I click the Home button in my browser it goes to the Firefox Start Page because it's practical to think so and in the past it has done as expected. Indeed, a lot of the things discussed are obliterated when it comes to real life application. For all my rhetoric, it's impossible not to have friends or family that aren't religious or have different political views to my own (though it does disturb me that some of my nearest and dearest think I'm going to Hell). Even with this debate at large, we all probably live our lives in similar ways. I'm happy to go along with capitalism even if I know it's a fundamentally skewed system because I can't really avoid doing so. Even philosophers can assume their own theories are nonsense. In a weirdly apt way, Descartes didn't really think he was dreaming when he wrote Meditations, but it was impossible for him to say either way. A big heap of muddy digression to get through there, sorry. Doubt it's adding much to the discussion and I'm not sure the point I was trying to make, but there you go. Edit: Oh dear, you posted again as I was writing this.

Jumping and shit works surprisingly well. Can't imagine using the stick is nearly as good as the mouse.
  4. Life

Kroms, that's enraging. I feel weirdly guilty that I'll never have to face shit like that
  5. Trine

I don't think it takes itself too seriously...
  6. I don't know if the email was that bad. You should have read it out in a funny voice, like Sincerely These Nuts.

Another real one, I love this. "Fantastic characters inhabit an awesome story of power, sacrifice, (cat girls,) and disaster" - IGN.com
  8. This is awesome. Anyone else becoming scarily dependent upon these podcasts? It's really weird, like someone said before, but it's literally the highlight of my week. Thank you Idle Thumbs for brining joy into my life I guess.
  9. The king is dead!

Pretty hard to comprehend he's actually not in existence somewhere in the world. Now should I start the jokes at the risk of being ripped to shit yet again?

  11. Life

Life is now shit because Michael Jackson just died.
  12. Why does the history on Firefox suck so much?

I don't mind the History stuff in Firefox, search is your friend. Then again, I never use it much. If I ever need to revisit a page I'll type what I need in the browser bar and the page will come up in the list, but I can't say I do that often either.

  14. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

Luckily I'll be 18 in less than a month, so don't really give a fuck about this anymore. I suppose it's good to have unified ratings, maybe parents will actually pay attention to them.
  15. Life

Religion is full of infinite regresses in which the only terminator, as they see it, is God. I also hate the "can't have happened by chance" thing, because for one, natural selection is not chance, and secondly, it's far more statistically probable than a god(s). Chance? What's God then?
  16. Bailout Graphic

They're called Hedge Fund Managers, whatever the fuck that means.
  17. Life

This seems like an awfully interesting but tl;dr page. I will contribute, therefore, some random thoughts on some of the topics that may or may not be at hand. Hello there everyone, I dislike organised religion and the right wing, and I reserve in my heart a special place of hatred for marriages of the two. The Republican Party appear to be the absolute manifestation of that. I don't live in the US, but I followed the election last year very closely indeed and have a fairly deep interest in politics across the pond. Their campaign was so anti-scientific, regressive and dirty, I find it hard to see anyone who even voted for them as valid members of global society. I often have that problem, though. Even with centrist/right leaning or religious friends. It's like I regard anyone else with opinions on religion and politics far or even moderately removed from my own as - dare I say it - almost inhuman. It's awful, I know. Religion now. Declaration of interests; I'm what some would call a "militant" atheist, though I've flirted with the thought of pantheism or naturalism. Wouldn't have a problem with the church if they were all like Don Cupitt, but sadly I can't see that happening. The way some Christian friends don't have a clue about what their beliefs are founded on or entail is staggering, and I'd readily wager that I have a greater theological knowledge than 90% of so called "Christians" in Britain. The thing is, most people flat-out refuse to think about it, but for some reason it's taboo to question that. Live and let live I suppose, but it infuriates me when people consider themselves religious and are half assed and ignorant about their apparent beliefs. Honestly, I become consumed by a Dawkinsian rage. "But it's all about faith!" What the fuck is faith? Nothing, a big, belly-button fluff metaphysical get-out clause of shit. Sweet, ranting is awesome.

  19. Favorite Kid's Book

That's a pretty awesome Cok indeed.
  20. Scribblenauts

I adore ALWW, it's totally unique and I love Ashley's voice, the perfect stoner lilt. It's soooo... coooool. And Scribblenauts better be a good game as well as object generator, but I suppose it's pretty hard to fuck up level design that can be surmounted in pretty much any way imaginable.
  21. Favorite Kid's Book

That was so good! I remember playing with the magnifying glass and staring at the map for hours. It had a Yellow Brick Road with sparkles glued on, fuck yeah!

  24. Favorite Kid's Book

This +1,000. The whole Edge Chronicles series is phenomenal. Still read them from time to time. I also loved Chris Wooding's Broken Sky series, awesome shit, and I'm with SignorSuperDouche on The Man, what a sad story There are many more but I can't think of them off the top of my head. Percy the Park Keeper or something along those lines?
  25. [PROTOTYPE] In Stores Today!

Maybe I should just admit I was being unreasonable
