You're doing fine. I thought this was a little beyond the scope of the ign thread so... (I want to keep that thread pure).

Exactly. It's awesome to have both. Or, it was.

That's so weird when that happens. Maybe they're illegal in Canada. edit: thanks for the info. They're, otherwise, hard to find. I'd prefer to own them, but it seems I'll probably have to settle for what I can get.

I did at first, but found it all to be quite lame. I talk to my party members (and NPCs) a lot to hear their back-stories and such, but after a while, I started to find the codex entries really generic and dull. Only the ones that deal with enemies and the control ones were actually useful to me, because they give you information that is actually relevant to playing the game. I'm not against reading by any means, I do it all the time; but, I got really sick of breaking the pace of the game to read the codex. The stuff during the origin story was pretty interesting and helped to provide context for your story but after that, it's not for me.

It's occurred to me, as I'm trying out different PC games, that many of the genres that work best on the PC (i.e. Strategy, RPG and Adventure) are the genres that age better than any others. Do you guys agree, disagree? I mean, no matter what hardware you have, you'll be able to run, Diablo II, the Monkey Island series (Including the new Telltale episodes), Heroes of Might and Magic, Fallout and Starcraft etc... even certain modern classics like Torchlight and World of Goo. So, even though having an up-to-date system is ideal, there are still a zillion good games that'll run on your humble little machine. Plus digital distribution has made it much easier to obtain older games and be sure that they'll run on your OS. This post is really tangential; does anybody know where I can purchase digital versions of Planescape:Torment or Baldur's Gate?

There doesn't seem to be a thread on this. The distinctions between the three categories: Favorite: Simply the game you enjoy more than any other...based on whatever criteria you want to use. Best: The game that you think could most easily be argued for as the most skillfully made (or whatever). Desert Island: The one game you could play for the rest of your life. Note: This doesn't mean you have to play this game constantly forever; it just means that you can never play any video game ever again except this one. Please explain the reasoning behind your choices.

I'm seriously considering the limited edition, mostly because I want the wireless arcade stick (designed by Hori!!!) for all my fighting games. Also...because at the college I used to go to...we had Tekken Tag Tournament in the lounge set on freeplay and man did I play the everloving scoops out of that thing. Anyone else getting the game? Do you think the stick is worth it (it's a $150 bundle).

That's funny when I imagine it: Chris: Hey, will your save carry over from Mass Effect to ME2? Bioware: Yeah. Chris: Hey, will your save carry over from Mass Effect to ME2? Bioware: You already asked us that. Chris: I know, but what if you changed your mind... Bioware: We didn't. Chris: How 'bout now? No? Ok. Good. One week later... Chris: Hey Bioware, it's Chris Remo calling, I guess you're out or in the bathroom or something. You haven't returned my calls. I was just wondering...

Ain't that the truth. Sorry to be so defensive. Another source of hilarity: The PR descriptions of Wii games: This is for Pop 'n Music: Choose from a variety of recorded sounds such as clapping or percussion sounds. Select from a total of 14 different characters and 6 unique stages. Use your Mii and show emotions such as laughing, crying, or being troubled. Assortment of licensed and original music to play with your friends!

You know what they say: "A Tekken a gen. keeps the doctor...something."

I probably shouldn't have used the title "bad writing." What I really mean is unintentionally humorous writing. I didn't start this thread because I wanted specifically to attack people. I just saw the quote and found it funny. It's like the signs where I work that say, "Only disposable buckets are allowed to leave the kitchen," "Kitchen personnel only allowed in the kitchen" and "Teabags are welcome in compost." Also, I'm not claiming to have perfect grammar, by any means. This isn't about picking on people so much as it is recognizing that everybody makes mistakes and sometimes those mistakes are funny.

Idle Thumbs 50: "Farewell, Video Games" or "The Shitty Wizard"
Garple replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
It makes it look like a Mac. -
It will within a month. If you can't keep up, why don't you just go play on consoles, noob.
-
So, now I'm the weird dude who was like "Oh Man, Tekken 6 is coming out, awesome! is anybody getting it? I might get the Limited Edition with the wireless arcade stick L33T!!!!PWNAGEEEEEEEEE" Then Tekken 6 came out, and instead I bought Tekken Dark Resurrection (Tekken 5) on PSN and have been playing that a whole bunch. I'm that guy.

I was going to make a joke about this...but I don't really want to talk politics here.

Exactly, and besides, I think the point of a quick look is to give you a "quick look" of the gameplay. It's not a review or an analysis. It's just "if you're wondering about this game...here's an idea of what it's like" I find them extremely helpful in deciding whether or not I want to check out a particular game.

Try to run Crysis and burn a dvd at the same time. If it doesn't work out, spend an additional $500 and try again. Repeat as necessary.
-
Of course, they're in the everyone but rockstar camp. They're not rockstar.
-
But there's already a Kotor 2 and a Mass Effect 2...so does this mean the real Kotor 2 is like...Mass Effect 0.5
-
Yes, but then no one can subsequently register as Tobli X2, for there can only be one.

Idle Thumbs 50: "Farewell, Video Games" or "The Shitty Wizard"
Garple replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I agree. I mean, "Darkspawn", really? It's kind of like they took a prebuilt fantasy template and then forgot to fill in the details that make a world unique. It's a fun game though, so I don't really mind that much. It's not like many games have unique settings. -
I've never been to England, so I'm curious: what's different about it?

Is that what the good news is? Is that real?
