It's so weird that you know that.

Just saw Top Hat on Turner Classic Movies. It's amazing how well most of the comedy still works after all these years. And I learned about my self that I can appreciate the hell out of some good tapdancin' so, win-win.

I immediately thought of the Simpsons episode where Homer is seen watching Twin Peaks.

It's just three extra weapons and some multiplayer maps.

Some pretentious conference-inspired rambling THE THREAD

They don't really have time, though, unfortunately, because they're accountable to shareholders who want a timely return on their investment OR ELSE. -
What do you even mean by this? It's about trash; it's got a gaudy trash-aesthetic presentation. I'm smashin' things and burnin' things. It all takes place on one screen inside of a big trash can. It covers everything video games were supposed to be before smart people got a hold of them. I'm being facetious here, but I love the game. (full disclosure: I've only played the demo, but I have to believe this is the kind of game that's perfectly encapsulated by the demo experience). Also: Can somebody tell me why the hell I feel like I want to buy "Smash Cars"?

I played a little more, and it turns out it's awesome. I didn't get to the intensity yet but I did figure out what I was supposed to do.

For my money, this is probably the best example of what we're talking about here. Speaking of JRPGS (their mechanics and tropes), I was playing an Xbox Live Indie game called "Japanese Characters That Groucho Can't Read" and although it was in Japanese, I found myself immediately comfortable with it, because it was a Zelda clone. What was funny was that it even had the scene from the beginning of every JRPG where your mother wakes you up and makes you get out of bed. I know Zelda is not technically a JRPG, but you get my point.

Hmm. Maybe it's not. I just assumed because I've heard of people playing it co-op, but maybe that's only local.

Hey, I'm like the only person in the world who's not a huge fan of it. Don't use me as your standard. Plus, I generally only like games that are cute or have motorcycles.

I think that's the only way one can use electroplankton

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/1096-Dragon-Age-Origins I know this guy's been criticized lately on this forum, but he totally sums up the reasons why I don't really like this game. "Realistically, You'll probably just play through it once, then play the opening mission five times, because after that it's pretty much the same except for the occasional bit of dialogue. For example, I was an elf and every now and again, characters would say, 'Hello, you are an elf.'"

Shucks. Good luck, sir. We're rooting/praying/raindancin' for ya.

I leave it to your interpretation. I guess PSone's generation and earlier is a good cutoff.

God. I feel like such a philistine...but I just bought this game (it's on sale for $5), started playing and thought "this is GORGEOUS. I love the controls. Ok. Wait. What? Is this all you do? How do I know when I'm finished? Am I supposed to...oh man. I don't understand." And I stopped playing after 60 seconds. I will certainly return to it. And I'm shocked that I didn't immediately fall in love as I'm so into artsy-fartsy stuff. Oh well. It's sitting on the hard drive awaiting my return.

Oh my God! That's crazy and awesome. I never would have imagined anyone would pick that. It is a great game though.
-
What is your username on ps3? If you're down for it, I'd love to play some co-op.
-
I will never have anything better than my laptop's internal mic.

Well, fuck me. I bought this game while I was drunk last night. I didn't realize it until I checked my email this morning and saw the order confirmation. Well. There are certainly worse purchases that could be made while under-the-influence. I'd been meaning to pick it up anyway... I guess I'll be playing Torchlight soon.

Yeah, maybe a one or two trial runs that don't necessarily make it out into the wider world.

I'm embarrased to think about how often I do that. If the game's not story heavy, I often listen to a podcast or something while I play. That's what I'm doing during my current replay of God of War (got the PS3 reissue) and that's how I played a great deal of Trials HD.

Exactly. Once again: Drunk. Also, if you're online right now, please come on xbox live. -
If you really mean that, you have made my entire life.
