  1. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Dangerdoom is good...but limited since it's all tied to the Adult Swim theme. Definitely check out Madvillainy, the project Doom did with the producer known as Madlib.
  2. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Shit, Yo!...That's one of the only things that bummed me out about the previous game...the fact that you didn't actually get to go anywhere once you finally got to Rome.
  3. Kinect

What do you mean by this? I'm not giving you a hard time...I honestly don't quite understand but I'm curious.
  4. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Have you listened to MF Doom and/or Canibus? If not...you should.
  5. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Swing-Revival, maybe? Or Jump Music Revival... I recommend y'all listen to Stravinsky's "Petrouchka"
  6. Bot quotes

It occurs to me that this might all be a ploy and sleepdance is just an extremely sophisticated bot...just kidding.

Good points synthgerb. I'm tempted to give them a pass on inconsistency since the show's been on for decades, but I guess that's no excuse for not being true to your main character. However, I feel a connection to the characters in all the seasons. Like when Barney quits drinking to get his pilot's license and because of that is able to save Bart and Lisa or everybody tries to keep Moe from slipping irretrievably into lonely despair or when Maude dies or when Bart and Lisa team up so she can execute a prank on Skinner that will win her back the respect of her classmates.
  8. L.A. Noire

I'm picturing that on the back of the box... "-Improved Dodging!"
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched the first episode and it didn't work for me at all. Could it be I'm just not non-American enough? I love Monty Python and Ricky Gervais.
  10. Gaming In-Jokes

I was a big fan of the drunk women in Fable 2. I married one of them just because they stood out from all the others. They always had funny things to say.
  11. Fable 3

    This is a funny sentence.
  12. L.A. Noire

This is a good point. It's hard to roleplay the GTA games because most of the missions are pretty difficult to complete without fucking up some "civilians", which I think organized criminals in real life try not to do for obvious reasons.
  13. L.A. Noire

I don't think you can say the trailer actually detracted from the game's quality.
  14. L.A. Noire

I guess we all pretty much agree it's not a very effective trailer...but it also tells us basically nothing about the game, so we shouldn't hold the trailer against the game itself.
  15. Dead Rising 2

Brad and Jeff? Is this some kind of awesome Giant Bomb game???
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

I guess it's also funny to me that with something as incredibly subjective as comedy, everyone in the world would decide that the Simpsons later seasons are actually "bad" as opposed to just not their cup of tea. I may actually do the Ewe Boll thing, especially after finding out his first feature is basically a German take on Columbine called (of all things) Heart of America. That's the most audacious and presumptuous title I can imagine a first time director who's not from America giving their movie.
  17. L.A. Noire

I think Red Dead Redemption really cut down on the amount of freeform shenanigans available to the player, so I'd say there's a good chance your wish will come true (although, in the case of RDR...that may have just been a result of being out in the middle of nowhere...but hey...you couldn't have sex with prostitutes...John Marsten would say something like "those days are over" so there you go).
  18. L.A. Noire

Your points are well made, Thunderpeel. Part of what I was trying to say is that I think originality is a bit overrated if not downright impossible. I believe execution is far more important. Batman: Arkham Asylum comes to mind. And yes, the trailer is not very compelling. But on the bright side, it's just cut scene snippets and I've never been dissuaded from playing a game because the cutscenes looked bad.
  19. L.A. Noire

Isn't the originality just pastiche in those examples? Taking Noir and something else and slapping it together? (I don't really mind that per se and have only experienced LA Confidential firsthand out of the three, so I'm pulling S out of my A, I suppose). I didn't really "get" LA Confidential...was the point like: It's noir but this is the 90s, so now we can swear and stuff!
  20. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

I guess that was probably the case, but I didn't know what Serkis looked like so I was thinking something different.
  21. CONGRATS STEVE!/FUCK STEVE!

The guy who played Funkhauser on Curb Your Enthusiam? I can't be bothered to look up his real name...because as funny as he is...he's not a "real name" kind of actor if you know what I mean. Kind of like the guy who played the "blind" lady's husband on Twin Peaks and "Daddy" (the S&M suit guy) in The People Under the Stairs. He was a gift to the visual media, but it's better if he just gets to be those characters for us instead of also being a person (although, obviously it's ok for him to be a person in his private life). I just caught myself making this weird fucking post and I'm still going to hit "Submit" anyway.

Am I the only person in the world who thinks the Simpsons has always been good? What do you guys want that you only got from them for 5 seasons? I'm not necessarily saying this about you guys (synthgerbil being very experienced and knowledgeable in animated media, for one) but it seems like the kind of idea that has gained so much momentum and been so widely circulated that I'm pretty sure most people just take it for granted.
  23. I think I'm going to have to watch all his movies now. He seems like an incredible (albeit, probably horrible) force of nature. I have to see what all the fuss is about. Will I survive a marathon weekend of trying to watch them all at once?
  24. Call of Duty: Black Ops

I think someone on the Select Button podcast mentioned that in regard to the last quarter of Indigo Prophecy, which seems reasonable.
