  1. Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures

You really seem to be a master of creative artistry and subtlety in UI, Jake. You're probably one of the only auteurs in that area of game design. I really need to play more of your stuff. Jake: or someone who is not Jake, but has played a lot of Telltale games: what are your "greatest hits" i.e. the pieces of work you're most proud of...also...will Telltale games run on an integrated graphics chip? I have all the consoles, but I'm wondering if you guys have made stuff that's exclusive to PC. I suppose that'd be easy enough to look up...but, you know...
  2. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Hey...it says comical youtube thread! Comical, not terrifying.
  3. Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver

You don't liek mudkips? Also: your girlfriend seems really awesome; you're lucky. If I had a girlfriend who got excited about things like Pokemon, I'd...well...I don't know what I'd do. But I'd do something. That's for sure.
  4. XBLA Strategy

Isn't it only single player, though? I have it on Steam.
  5. XBLA Strategy

Ok, guys, I just started up the Catan demo...and I don't know if it's just my current mood...but I was all...bleh. Can you just explain to me briefly what's cool about the game. And does it take a little bit to really "get into it"? I'm still willing to buy it...really I just really want to start gaming with thumbs as much as I possibly can regardless of what the game is because I don't really have any friends around where I live (they're all scattered at different colleges) and I need some social interaction. It would be nice if I could game online with my diaspora-ed friends, but I only took up video games after the whole college thing kicked off and I found myself friendless, so I never happened to make friends with anyone who was much of a "gamer" (I hate the term "gamer", by the way...who's with me?).

Damn. I feel bad for not buying everything Telltale puts out. In fact, I've only bought Tales of Monkey Island episode 1. That's it! I feel very guilty because I think Jake is so goddamn awesome and I respect what Telltale does, but I just don't feel like playing adventure games anymore. Miffy, or someone, will you please sell me on this stuff so I can give those guys a bunch of money?
  7. Street Fighter IV

http://www.amazon.com/Tekken-Limited-Wireless-Bundle-Playstation-3/dp/B002ED5ZR4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=video games&qid=1270268338&sr=1-3 This is the stick I have (except I've got the 360 version). It's a good deal since it comes with the game and it works well as an entry level stick, in my opinion. The buttons feel a little cheap, but one nice thing: the stick makes a very distinctive click as it contacts one of its directional points, so you can tell if you're hitting the three or four points you need to for a proper half circle etc. I'm sure there are plenty of people here more qualified than myself to advise you on this...but as a novice who just purchased an arcade stick back in December, I thought I might be in a position similar to the one you find yourself in. I'd always been interested in the basic systems of Street Fighter II, but suddenly I started playing it a whole lot, then I bought Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and played it a bunch with Patters. I found that it just didn't feel right to try and crank out moves on a pad, so I bought the stick when it was on sale for $60 and I've been very pleased with it. My advice is to buy something cheap if you're a casual and intermittent player, like me. The stick I've linked to is good enough to allow for better execution but also won't break the bank and then lead to you feeling guilty when you take a break from fighting games for a while. Also: don't take offense at me assuming you're a somewhat casual fighting game fan...it's just that, I figure, if you're on the fence about getting a stick, I assume you're not super hardcore. Sorry this post is so fucking long. In summation, this stick is one of several options you have. I own it and enjoy it, so I feel it is worth your consideration. If you want a wireless stick it is pretty much your only option (I think), unless you know how to build one or something...?
  8. Life

    That's awesome advice, thanks.
  9. Street Fighter IV

Can someone give me advice on how to configure the controls for this and Super Turbo, please? I have the wireless Tekken 6 stick which has 8 buttons divided into two sets of four, one above the other, basically, it looks like the SF IV stick Patters posted a picture of a few posts above this one. I'm not sure how to configure for these games so that it won't feel awkward. I put the three punches on top and three kicks on the bottom but it feels like I have to move my hand too much to go from punching to kicking and back. Maybe it's just because I'm not an experienced fighting game player. What do you say?
  10. Books, books, books...

Oh. Right. Well they made that joke on the Giant Bombcast, so if you listen to the episode from a week or two ago, you'll get your fix.
  11. Red Dead Redemption

So is there going to be Red Thumb Redemption?
  12. Books, books, books...

Because it would fit in so well with the rest of his oeuvre and I think I would read it.
  13. Books, books, books...

I want him to write a Just Cause novel.
  14. Books, books, books...

Did you guys know there's a novel based on the first Metal Gear Solid game?
  15. Dawn of War 2

I just read the first two chapters...it's a lot of fun. Kind of like Harry Potter meets Cyberpunk...vaguely.
  16. General Video Game Deals Thread

It's probably worth your while to support telltale. It can't possibly be so bad that it's not worth five bucks.
  17. XBLA Strategy

I will buy it. Now: what's the most efficient way to sort out our timezone differences. I'm free most afternoons, eastern-standard time US. Also: Let's check into Xbox Live Indie Games, since the cost of entry is really low. Tigsource wants us to know about this game http://tigsource.com/articles/2010/03/29/crate-expectations It's probably, like, a dollar (80 points).
  18. As I said...it won't seem to let me. Instead of "save target as" I get "save link as".
  19. C:\Windows\Media\onestop.mid

    This makes my day.
  20. That's fucking hilarious. I want to download it...but it won't seem to let me.
  21. Dawn of War 2

What's your avatar from? It's really awesome.
  22. XBLA Strategy

Like I said, the aesthetic is very nice. Quaint, but very nice. Try the demo and see what you think?
  23. XBLA Strategy

Greed Corp is pretty simple. There are only a handful of mechanics and units. Edit: Also it's only $10. Or there's always one of the Worms games. I guess it's mostly Miffy, Blix and I for this, so guys: how bout we either take a vote on the stuff we'd be interested in playing and then we could set a time for our first session. I don't know about you guys, but I'm willing to buy a game or two for this...and also, I don't expect it to be regular because I know there are a lot of other weekly multiplayer events. I suppose I'm most up for Greed Corp, Worms or Catan, though any others are fine. And Miffy, don't worry about intimidation, nobody it's just Blix and I and we've already said we're not strategists. Think of it as a chance to get your first taste of strategy gaming alongside others who are also totally green.
